1 | dictatorship superior to democracy? | Dan 2:37 | Hank | 82368
"...the democracy of the US hinged on the Christian ethics and morals. If they disappear the democracy will collapse." ..... Early on in the Operation Iraqi Freedom campaign, our military leaders in the theater of operation predicted that Baghdad would fall from within, not from without. That is what happened. The leadership ran like scared rabbits and the Iraqi military essentially threw in the towel. Both the Greek Empire and Roman Empire crumbled from within, a fall precipated by the moral and spiritual decay of its citizenry. Our nation was conceived and founded on solid ground, the solid ground of belief in and dedication to Christian beliefs and ethics. Today the one Book from which these teachings are derived is banned in the classrooms of our public schools. The lilting poetry of the Psalms and Christ's incomparable Sermon on the Mount have been replaced by the adventures of Harry Potter and the atheistic theory of Charles Darwin. We murder a million and more babies a year and call it pro choice; we endorse sexual perversion and call it an alternative lifestyle. Yet we continue to sing "God Bless America" and retain still the motto "In God we trust" on the face of our coins. We call bigoted and right-wing extremists those who are brave enough to defend their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We severely chastize those who would dare voice their belief that Christianity is true and that pagan religions are false. So, will God keep His hedge of protection forever around a country and a people who make every attempt to shut Him out and shut Him up? Or is America speeding on a crash course to collapse and destruction? "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain." [Psalm 127:1] --Hank
2 | dictatorship superior to democracy? | Dan 2:37 | Piper | 82377
Hank: Sounds like a return to the "good old days": the 1950's Bible belt where segregation, exclusion, censorsorship, regimented prayer...and most of all...hypocrisy, was king. Sure, there's less "law" now, perhaps more sinners... but that's the price of freedom:freewill. Go to Iran, not many overt sinners there, and all the public prayer you can swallow. Frankly, I'll take 2003 sinners over 1953's Pharisees any day. My sense is Jesus would too. PS: can't recall, but wasn't Christianity the required state religion during the last centuries of the Roman Empire? |

3 | dictatorship superior to democracy? | Dan 2:37 | Emmaus | 82378
Piper, I guess then it would be even better to be completely lawless so we can also have complete freedom and freewill, right? I think you were reading a little more into Hank's post than was actually there. Emmaus |
