21 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80969
Hello, I'm glad you see no contradiction between James and Paul, because there is none. The solution to harmonizing them is not to create two faiths. The faith that Paul wrote about -- faith in God -- is the same faith James speaks of -- faith that works. When THIS faith is exhibited, one is saved. James is not talking about salvation? I think he is. "You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone." - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, Stay Faithful |

22 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80970
"'Those who imagine a discrepancy between James and Paul rarely observe that it was Paul who wrote, "Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be!" (Rom. 6:15); and "Having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness" (v. 18). Thus Paul condemns the same error James is exposing here. Paul never advocated any concept of dormant faith. " Exactly, and Romans 6:3-5 shows WHEN the Christians are saved. - Samanatha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, Stay Faithful |

23 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80972
Oh, I'm sorry. The books of James and Romans show that having an obedient faith in God [not in works] is what harmonizes this doctrine. Just an observation. You tend to be very short with people. It may be the medium, but you are coming through as hostile. If not, my apologies. - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized Romans 10:9,10; 6:3-5 |

24 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 80973
Thank you. The answer doesn't seem to be what many on this forum have settled on: Two faiths, one faith that God sees and one faith that men see! Faith is obedient (Romans 1:5; 16:26; 1 Thess 1:3) and Faith is IN the Grace of God. Trouble only arises when Faith is IN one's obedience/works. Trouble also arises when faith is not obedient. Faith that does not obey God cannot save. The moment of salvation doesn't come before obedient faith. Thanks again. - Samantha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized |

25 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 81252
Hi, I believe I'm saying what James and Paul are saying. A person is saved through faith that works. It is not a saving faith if it has no works. It is not a saving faith if trust is in the works. James and Paul are depicted as speaking of two faiths. One that men see and one that God sees. Such is not the case. The same faith that one has initially at salvation is the same faith that carries him through to the last day. Faith works. - Samantha Hear because faith comes through hearing. Believe because God loves you. Repent because Jesus died for sin. Confess because it is good news. Be Baptized to be united with Christ. Stay faithful 'til death and you will receive the crown of life. |

26 | Do you have to be baptized to be saved? | Rom 6:3 | wwjdonuts | 81253
Thank you, but we will have to disagree. Wouldn't your point here also mean that repentance wasn't a requirement to be saved? Oh well. - Samantha Hear because faith comes through hearing. Believe because God loves you. Repent because Jesus died for sin. Confess because it is good news. Be Baptized to be united with Christ. Stay faithful 'til death and you will receive the crown of life. |

I agree that Hades is the unseen world and no necessarily the place of torment. The only thing I would point out that is 'Paradise' is a realm in the Hadean world: 'today you will be with me in paradise.' - Samanatha Hear, Believe, Repent, Confess, Be Baptized, Stay Faithful |
