2641 | The second Man is the Lord from heaven? | Heb 13:8 | srbaegon | 69765
Hello Ray I think it's because those that see Christ as man are not making the same capitalization distinctives that you do. It appears that in your thinking the difference between man and "Man" is that the former is sinful and the latter is sinless. I'm sure it's a helpful tool for you, but understand that most don't use that scheme of notation. Steve |

2645 | Sumission to authority? | Heb 13:17 | srbaegon | 28650
Submission to authority.......................... There are many questions in your question. A big way to recognize authority is by the attitude you take when discussing your pastor or his views. You can disagree, but acknowledge him and his position without belittling. Are your interpretations different or the application? There is no difficulty with alternate applications. If your interpretations differ, that's another matter. Be patient in this (maybe you already have). There are times when it is best to part, and yes, it could be mutually profitable to both. 2647 | Need help remembering a story of 2 men | James | srbaegon | 235099
Hello, Perhaps you are thinking of this passage from James 4:13-15? Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit"—yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that." Steve |

2650 | Any extra biblical support? | James 1:1 | srbaegon | 193286
Hello Robbert, After a short search I found this. Jerome in his "Lives of Illustrious Men" says: Simon Peter the son of John, from the village of Bethsaida in the province of Galilee, brother of Andrew the apostle, and himself chief of the apostles, after having been bishop of the church of Antioch and having preached to the Dispersion--the believers in Circumcision in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia--pushed on to Rome in the second year of Claudius . . . So Jerome obviously believed that Peter's epistle was to believers. Steve |

2652 | let him ask of God, who gives to all | James 1:5 | srbaegon | 94501
Hello gbennett76, No place in Scripture is a revelation given that must be worked out in order to be given to another. Either the plain meaning is given or is shut up so that even the receiver cannot know. By Joseph Smith's own commentary, he has shown himself to be deceived by a lying spirit. Steve |

2653 | Ray--here's the context, and thank you!! | James 1:5 | srbaegon | 143764

2655 | How blessed and wonderful are His gifts | James 1:17 | srbaegon | 235044
How blessed and wonderful, beloved, are the gifts of God! Life in immortality, splendor in righteousness, truth in perfect confidence, faith in assurance, self-control in holiness! And all these fall under the cognizance of our understandings; what then shall those things be which are prepared for such as wait for Him? The Creator and Father of all worlds, the Most Holy, alone knows their amount and their beauty. (1 Clement 35)

Thank you for responding. I asked a poor question. It should have been: Where is the _Biblical_ definition of what constitutes the Moral, Ceremonial, and Civil Law? Where in Scripture can I go to see that the Law was viewed by prophet or apostle as divided into multiple types or sections. Steve |

2660 | Why keep the Moral Law? | James 2:10 | srbaegon | 19217
I agree with your answer. Therefore, if Christ has fulfilled the Law (Matt 5:17), why do we insist on taking one aspect (moral), remove it from the rest, artificially systematize it using the 10 commandments (the whole Law is moral, not just the 10), and teach that it must continue to be kept?
