2 | World English Bible | Not Specified | roverjbh99 | 6924
There's a new Translation called the World English Bible (WEB) also called the American Standard Version of 1997 (ASV97). Like the NAS, it's a revsion of the 1901 ASV. However, it's different than the NAS. It uses 'Yahweh' for God's name and the Majority text as it's base for the NT. As I speak, the NT, Psalms, and Proverns are finshed. You can find out more at http://worldenglishbible.org. Is it better or equal to the NAS? Also, what are your thoughts on the WEB/ASV97? |

3 | NAS like the NWT??? I HOPE NOT! | Not Specified | roverjbh99 | 7107
Aloha Brothers and Sisters! A while back, I read a chart that compared the AV, NAS, NIV, and the Jehovah Witnesses New World Translation. The author concluded that the NIV and NAS was more like the NWT. I like the NAS. I read this and it scared me. Is this true? Should I put down my NAS??? Thanks for your help. |

6 | Why no gender-neutral language in NASB? | Not Specified | roverjbh99 | 8487
I love and cherish the NASB. I have always wondered, why didn't the translators use gender-neutral language in the 1995 update. Some scriptures refer both to men and women. The NAS, KJV, NIV, NIrV, RSV, dont accept this fact. The CEV, TEV (1992 update), NLT, and NRSV have.

9 | Good News Bible? | Not Specified | roverjbh99 | 13294
Recently I turned 21 and got a copy of the Today's English Version 2 (TEV2), 1992 edition. (I had gotten the 1976 edition [TEV1] a few years back.) This version of the TEV was produced under the imprint of the GodSpeaks billboard campaign. What's your view on the TEV? I find it to a fresh rendering of God's Word. I helps balence out some of the literal renderings of the KJV, NRSV, and their kin.
10 | I'm Back! | Not Specified | roverjbh99 | 56752
It's been a long while since I posted. Since then, I have moved from Hawaii to Virginia. When I have posted, I have been a stauch NRSV user. Now, after lying to myself so long (over language towards gender), I have dropped the NRSV and have gone to the RSV. Since that, I have felt better and liberated. Now on to the questions: Recently nine Miners were pulled from a shaft alive. I praise God for that. I am wondering, why did God let those nine miners live but let 3,000 plus people perish on 11 Sept 01? Second question: Is the Universal Life Church scripurial? Thanks Everyone! |

11 | What is the best version of the Bible? | Bible general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 3733
Every version since 1881 has claimed to be the "best". I believe it's up to every child of God to decide. I have made this decsion. In my view the best versions are the KJV, the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) , the American Standard Version (ASV), The NASB95, and the World English Bible. BTW, don't believe KJO.

14 | But the older NASB did. Why? | Bible general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 3926
Ashley, I believe the reason the NASB and RSV (Revised Standard Version) translators stuck with the Thees and thous is that it was a sign of respect the the AV. Also, It was a link in the great tradication. Josh |

17 | Looking to download the NASB | Bible general Archive 1 | roverjbh99 | 6936
The NAS (1995 Update and 1977 Edition) can be downloaded as part of the Online Bible. Go to their site at http://www.online-bible.net to download. Do a search for NAS in the main searchbox. To use the NAS, you need to pay 20.00 to the publisher for copyright reasons. You will need the main software to use. If you have a palm pilot/Pocket PC, Olive Tree has the NAS (1995 Update) for a good price. Their main software is also free. Their site is http://www.olivetree.com. I like the NAS, but do yourself a favor and get an NRSV. |

So far, I think the WEB/ASV97 is really good (in the NT, that is). As with the old ASV, some of the language is pretty old sounding. Until it's done, I won't make a comparsion to the NAS.
