761 | Follow up - how and to whom? | Matt 24:3 | prayon | 20587
Greetings Steve, In the first question the disciples asked they were referring to what Jesus was talking about in 24:2 when He said, "not one stone will be left here upon another". The event of course was the destruction of the Jewish temple that occured in 70 AD. The next two questions are referring to Jesus return and the end of the age. Neither of the events that these questions are referring to have been occured yet nor has the Lord chosen to reveal the answers yet. prayon

Greetings Walking, Christ tells us in Matthew 24:4-8 that in the end days many will come in His name, we will hear of wars and rumors of wars, nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, (this prophecy was fulfilled with WWI) and there will be famines, earthquakes, and pestilences. As the last day gets closer all of these things will escalate. Consider a woman in labor. As she gets closer to the birth the pains get closer together and much stronger. So it is now. All of the above mentioned events are getting worse and worse. Matt 24:9-13 tells us that persecution of Christians will rise. Christians today are being slaughtered because they refuse to deny Christ. There will also be preaching of false doctrine which will lead to moral laxity. People today are so absorbed in self and seeking material comfort they have become ignorant of God's word. If you look in James 5:1-5 it is a prophecy of things to come in the last days. All of these things have come to pass. Daniel 12:4 states that in the end days many will run to and fro and knowledge shall increase. Until the mid 19th century man could not travel faster than horseback. Today we can board a plane and travel 2000mph. If you look at a city from an airplane you will see freeways crowded with cars running to and fro. It has been estimated that from Noahs day until the year 1800 knowledge doubled once. We are told by scientists today the mans knowledge doubles every 10-15 years. In 2Thess 3:3 it states that there will be a falling away of many in the end days. How many are falling away in these days we are in, instead seeking self gratifacation and pleasure? How many go to church to be seen there instead of going to truly hear God's word? 1Tim 4:1-2 states that "in the latter times, some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and the doctrines of devils.." Today we are having a epidemic of seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. These include fortune tellers, witches, palm and tea leaf readers, psychics, occultists, sorcerers, and horoscopes and astrology. Who can deny the rise of any of these today? "In the last days perilous times will come; for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloveing, unforgiving, slanders without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haaughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of Godliness but denying the power" (2Tim 3:1-5) (the outward 'form' of Godliness can mean going to church, knowing scriptures, following Christian traditions, ect but on the inside are not Godly). If one is to believe the scriptures one has to know that we are in the last days. Be patient and hold tight to God my friend, for the rapture in indeed coming soon. prayon If you would like more info on any of the above please let me know. |

765 | see to let you know the end is near ? | Matt 24:6 | prayon | 165742
Greetings and welcome to the forum! Shythiyl's answer was great but I want to add some more. The first prophecy of the end times came from Jesus Himself in Matt 24:1-2 when He said "There shall not be left here one stone upon the other that shall not be thrown down". This was fulfilled in 70AD when the armies of Titus surrounded Jerusalem and destroyed the temple. IN the Olivet discourse in Matt 24 and 25 Jesus gave many other prophesies of what was to come in the end times. Ezek 38 and 39 talk about how Russia would become a major power in the end times and how it would be involved in the end days. James5:1-5 says that in the final days riches would be accumulated by some but would not produce happiness but instead misery and heartache. There will also be conflict between labor and management. We will also witness and increase of pleasure seeking. Daniel 12:4 in addition to speaking of transportation talks about an increase of knowledge. It was estimated that between Noahs day and the year 1800 knowledge doubled once. Today knowledge doubles every 10 - 15 years. 1Tim 4:1-2 talks about the rise of the occult and that people shall depart fromt the faith and give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of the devil. These include fortune tellers, witches, palm and tea leaf readers, psychics, occultists, sorcerers, horoscopes and astrology. 2Tim 3:1-5 says that in the last days distressing times will come. For people will be lovers of themselves, blasphemers, lovers of money, boasters, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, and without natural affection. It also says many will hold to an outward form of godliness but denying it's power. Wickedness will also flourish. There will be sexual perversions, evil imaginations, and violence. In summarry these are the predicted signs of the end days - some of which Shythiyl has already mentioned: 1) Return of the Jews to the homeland and Isreal becomes a nation again. 2) The Jews recapture the Old City of Jerusalem (1967) 3) Rise of Russia as a powerful nation and enemy of Israel 4) The Arab confederation against the new state of Isreal 5) Rise of a military power in the Orient that can field and army of 200 million. 6) REvivla of old Roman Empire in the form of a 10 nation confederacy 7) Revival of the dark occult practices of ancient Babylon 8) Immense turn to drugs 9) increase of international revolution 10) increase of wars 11) increase of earthquakes 12) increase of famine (due to population explosion) 13) coming of plagues and diseases 14) increase of pollution 15) departure of many Christian Churches from the historic truths of Christiajnity 16) Move toward a one-world religion 17) move towards a one-world government 18) decline of the US as a major world power 19) increase in lawlessness 20) decline of the family unit Rev 7:1-3 talks of weather changes. Jesus Himself said there would be strange events in the sky. Warnings, eveil oments and portents in the sun, moon, and stars and down on earth nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. (luke 21:25-26). Some additional scriptures to look at are: Mark 13 Luke 17:17-37, 21:7-28 In 1Thess each chapter has a reference to te end times, 2Thess emphasizes it even more. Hope this helps. prayon |

766 | Urgent and swift help needed!! | Matt 24:11 | prayon | 5813
You are correct that every item you mentioned goes against the word of God. In Matt 24:11 Jesus warns us that there will be many false prophets in the end times. It seems to me that this man clearly falls into that category. I would consider him dangerous to the saints and especially the baby saints. It sounds to me that he is preaching the message people want to hear instead of the gospel. I am not sure what can be done about him since your pastor is not willing to stand srong for the truth. The pastors preaching on the opposite occationally is not going to save many that fall for this mans word. I'm sure that Satan has him truly deceived. I would suggest this - PRAY. One of 2 things has happened; either you are not meant to be in that church or God is going to use you to stop this man. I am also going to refer this question to someone(s) more knowledgeable than I for possible things that can be done. Remember God is a God of order. May God give you wisdom in the situation.
767 | scriptuer Matthew 24:20 | Matt 24:20 | prayon | 35353
Greetings, In this verse Christ was prophesing that about the great tribulation at which time the Anti-Christ would desecrate the Temple of God. Buy saying He hoped it wasn't winter He was saying that this will happpen quickly, in a seconds notice the believers would have to flee to the mountains to avoid death. The Christians also remembered his warning in 70 AD when the Roman General Titus destroyed Jerusalem. Many fled to the mountains of Perea at this time to avoid slavery and death. prayon

Greetings Betjburgess and welcome to the forum, Exodus 31:14 says that the Isrealites must keep the Sabbath and if they defiled it and did any work they would surely be put to death. On the Sabbath anything was considered work including traveling. A person was not even allowed to start a fire in their house (Ex 35:3). In addition the gates to the city where locked. A person would of therefore been unable to flee the city when they saw the abomination of desolation. Fleeing in the winter is pretty much self explanatory. It would of been very cold. Hope this helps your understanding. prayon
770 | What's the sign? | Matt 24:27 | prayon | 3275
While talking to His disiples about His return he states that the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. He then says that the SIGN of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. I have heard tell that this sign is His shakina (sp?) glory. Is this the general concensus? Can anyone elaborate more on this?

773 | 7 years of tribulation? | Matt 24:29 | prayon | 60953
Greetings inheavenseyes, just a little more on the 7 years for you. As everyone said the 7 years of tribulation has not come yet. Daniel 9:27 tells us that the tribultion will begin when the Roman Antichrist signs a treaty with the Jews to rebuild their temple and resume animal sacrifices. During this time the antichrist will provide a pseudo-peace. Halfway through the 7 years the antichrist will break this covenant by causing an abomination against the Jewish people. The desecration will ruin what the Jews regard as sacred, the temple. (see also Matt 24:15). During the first 1260 days or 3 1/2 years the two witnesses (believed to be Moses and Elijah) will be present. They will identify the antichrist for who he is. The antichrist will have the two witnesses killed and they will lay dead in the street for 3 days and then be raised from the dead. During the 2nd half of the tribulation the antichrist will have supernatural powers. During this time the antichrist will raise up a conspirator. The conspirator will be even more ruthless because he will enslave the minds and souls of men. It is believed that this person will be a religious specialist. prayon |

775 | the rapture??? | Matt 24:40 | prayon | 20617

776 | Will the believer or non believer be go? | Matt 24:40 | prayon | 55478
Greetings Ken John, In 1Thes 4:16-17 Paul tells us that in a "with the sound of the trumpet...the dead shall rise first. Then we that are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together to meet the Lord in the air." When we look at Matt 24:31 tells us that those that rise will be His elect. The sound of the trumpet and the rapture of the saints will usher in the tribulation. In Matt 24:40-41 Jesus is telling us that Christ's 2nd coming will be swift and sudden. There will be no opportunity for afterthought, last minute repentance or bargaining. The believer will be taken in that "twinkling of an eye" the unsaved will be left to face the tribulation and the rule of the anti-christ. Hope this helps. agape, prayon |

777 | the ten virgins | Matt 25:1 | prayon | 26414
Greetings! In addition to Nolan's answer I wanted to add a little bit of symbolism. Lamps: Each virgin had a lamp. A lamp is a symbol of Christian profession. (Psa 119:105, Pro 6:23). 10 Virgins: In Jewish custom 10 constitutes a complete congregation. Oil: Oil is consistantly used in Scripture to symbolize power and the person of the Holy Spirit. The oil in the lamp causes it to produce light (2Cor 1:21-22). Sleepers: Christ is longer in coming than the church expected. Many have become complacent concerning his return. The virgins may appear selfish by not sharing their oil but we must remember that no one can give the Holy Spirit to another. Those who tried to get into heaven represent those who profess to be Christians but have no light. They are pretenders. They may appear to live an obedient life but in actuality have no personal relationship with Jesus and therefore He said He did not know them. In the custom of the marriage couple at that time when the groom was ready for the marriage to happen he went to the brides house and tried to catch her when she least expected. The bottom line of this parable is that you cannot borrow or loan a relationship with God, each person has to have their own. prayon |

778 | the ten virgins | Matt 25:1 | prayon | 44048
Greetings Mommapbs, I believe that those who miss the rapture will have a second chance. The bible tells us that 144,000 will never give into the beast. It also tells us that these people come from the 12 tribes of Isreal. All Jews have heard about Jesus Christ and yet refused to believe that He was the son of God. If what you said (that any one who has heard will not get a second chance to go to heaven), then the 144,000 would not be able to get into heaven. In addition Rev 9:9 tells us that "Blessed are those who are invited to the marrisage supper of the lamb". Through the process of elimination these people are believed to be the tribulation saints. All those who were raised in the rapture and all the OT and NT saints will be the bride of Christ, this only leaves the Tribulation believers. The wedding guests will join the bride and groom in fellowship for the next 1000 years. The guests will be made immortal after the 1000 year reign. 1Cor 15:53 tells us that the believers will be raised up and made immortal. Rev 20:5 says that the dead will be raised up from the tribulation will be judged. Anyone who becomes a believer after the rapture will go to heaven but will not be made immortal. I believe that the 5 virgins whose lamps were empty will be left at the tribulation but that they will have a second chance to get their act together and join us in heaven as the guests of the groom. I also believe that they will have a second chance because our God is a merciful God and a loving God that hates to see anyone perish. He gives all of us chance after chance when we mess up to redeem ourself. Why should it be any different later? Our God is an unchanging God. Hope this helps. prayon |
