602 | What is the message in Matthew 20 1-16 | Matt 20:1 | prayon | 61814
Greetings and welcome to the forum! Matthew 20:1-16 is the parable of the laborers. The owner represents God and the vineyard His kingdom. The laborers represent all who have heard God's call to them to live for Him and to use their lives to do God's work in His vineyard. The denarius represents eternal life which is given to all workers equally at the end of the age. Eternal life can never be earned. It is God's free gift through faith that is given in grace to all who believe in Him. One interpretation of the parable is that God gives eternal life to all who respond to His call and believe in Him no matter what the amount or type of service given to God's kingdom. All who enter the vineyard in answer to God's call receive it. Another interpretation is that God's rewards depend on His Sovereign grace. Because He is sovereign, He can determine when people are called and how they are rewarded. The third view is that the parable and it's main teaching centers on the faithfulness of the workers, not on the amount of work or the size of the task. Whatever the case, there is a warning for Christians who recognize that they are called to serve God each and every day. Jealousy and envy have no place in a believers life and those who do suffer from such an attitude may find that they have no rank in God's kingdom even though they may seem to be ahead of others in knowledge, age or years in God's sevice. prayon |

603 | Is the divine revelation of hell biblica | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 61806
Greetings Passion, I have to totally disagree with Steve that your question is not for the forum. Any question about the bible and whether something relates to it is proper. I have read the book and it is not biblical. However, I have used small parts of it as a "scared straight" tactic with teenagers who were very far off the narrow path. It did have some positive effects. I can not say whether this really did come from God or not - I can not judge what God has possibly revealed to someone or what he has not. Mary Baxter will have to answer to God for her statements. prayon |

604 | 7 sins | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 61703
Greetings Elder, A sin is a sin is a sin. The sin of murder is no more of a sin than is lying. They both break a commandment that God has given us. The bible talks of one sin that there is no forgiveness for, “Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. “Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come". 606 | Is it right to go to a spa for massages? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 61700
Greetings and a belated welcome to the forum. I agree with Ed. If you have put God first and met all your financial obligations to Him there is no reason why you should not have a massage. I am not sure what type of massage you receive but just to clarify, a relaxation massage can be just as therapeutic as a therapeutic massage. Enjoy, my friend! prayon
607 | How was earth created? | Gen 1:3 | prayon | 61697
Greetings Ahmed and welcome to the forum, The earth in the beginning was without form and void (v2). Then God spoke light into existence. That's all He just opened His mouth and spoke and the elements obeyed Him. For a day by day account see Gen 1:1-2:7. prayon
608 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | prayon | 61516
Greetings Deb, In the East the donkey is as large as a small horse, often having a rich saddle and accouterments and carrying great men. The horse was for war (Prov 21:31), but the donkey was always used for peaceful events. Zechariah prophesied that Jesus would ride a donkey because He is the King of Peace, thus giving another indication that Jesus was indeed the Messiah. The donkey was a lowly beast. Christ's first coming to Israel was in meekness and peace, on a lowly beast of burden, and resulted in national rejection, suffering, death, and resurrection. No Jewish king since Solomon had ridden upon one officially. prayon

610 | Whats up with Judgement, calvinists plz? | Rom 9:21 | prayon | 61509
Then why don't we have a discussion on any of those topics without having a debate on whether the Calvinistic views of each topic are right or wrong. Just curious - what is your idea to keep these long repetitive threads off of the forum? prayon |

611 | Whats up with Judgement, calvinists plz? | Rom 9:21 | prayon | 61484
John, it is not that you are stupid or dense - it is just that this topic has been been discussed into the ground. We need to let it rest in peace. Each time it has made it into another discussion it has caused hard feelings, and harsh words which is not what we Christians are called to behave as. If you really feel the need to discuss Calvinism there are numerous other forums where the subject might be welcomed. As for this forum I am sure that there are many other posts that would interest you where your contributions would be welcome. prayon
612 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | prayon | 61475
Greetings Berean, I don't have a problem with this topic. I don't have the money to have a problem with this topic. I do think that it is an excellent topic for discussion or study. Many people have been taught and believe that it is unChrist-like to have anything of value. prayon
613 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | prayon | 61474
Greetings Ed, Does this mean that you think Christians should not have thousands of dollars in a savings account and that as soon as we get a little extra we should devote it to God's kiingdom? prayon
614 | Discussion Question | Matt 19:24 | prayon | 61421
The bible has much to say on money and riches. My discussion question is this: Do you believe that it is a sin for Christians to have expensive things (cars, houses, jewelry, ect) and have an excess of money in the bank or do you believe that Christians are called to live a simple lifestyle? Do you feel that God would consider you greedy with an excess of money in the bank? prayon |

I, too, recognize that you are new to the forum and welcome to it, I too, would strongly suggest that you use the Search feature and type in Calvinism. The reasoning behind my suggestion is this: The debates on Calvinism have been and, very unforunately for the general good of this forum, continue to be hashed and rehashed over and over to the point of becoming ridiculously repetitive and hence unproductive. Debates on the so-called "5 Points" (TULIP) of Calvinism have waged for centuries among seasoned and learned theologians and have for the most part failed to be resolved. There is no reason to believe that we of the forum, most of whom could not meet the criteria to be called seasoned and learned theologians, will be able to effect any meaningful consensus either. prayon
617 | Pauls Authority | 1 Tim 1:20 | prayon | 61331
Greetings christian7, Paul said that he handed them over to Satan meaning that he has removed them from the church, thus ending their influence in the church and removing them from the protection and insulation of God's people. They were no longer under God's blessings but under the control of Satan. He did this so that Hymenaeus and Alexander would see how they had fallen into heresies and were attempting to shipwreck the faith of true believers. The ultimate purpose was not punishment but correction. The bible does not tell us how long they took before they learned their lesson. They may not of learned it at all. prayon
618 | forgiveness confirmed? | 1 John 1:1 | prayon | 61330
GJH, God knew a long time ago that you would be going through this discouragement. That's why you have His word. He tells you over and over throughout the bible that He loves you. Jesus gave His life for you. What greater sign of His love could He give you? Read His words to you. Personalize them. - For God so loved ME that He gave his only son that when I believe in Him I will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) Fear not: For He has redeemed ME, He has called ME by name; I are His. When I pass through the waters, He will be with ME; and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm ME; when I walk through fire I shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume ME. For He is the Lord MY God. (Isa 43:1-2) ...for He has said, He will never leave ME nor forsake ME...The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me. (Heb 13:5) I am confident of this: that the one who began a good work in Me will bring it to completion! (Phil 1:6) Therefore if I be in Christ I am new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new (2Cor 5:17) He will keep ME in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Him (Isa 26:3) I trust the Lord with all MY heart and will not lean not to MY own understanding. In all MY ways I will acknowledge Him and He shall direct MY paths. (Prov 3:5-6) I cast MY burden on the Lord and He will sustain ME; He will never permit the righteous to be moved. (Psa 55:22) Neither death nor life nor angels, nor pricipalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, not any other creaature, shall be able to separate ME from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom 8:38,39) The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? (Psa 27:1) All the reassurance you need is in the book that He wrote for YOU! prayon |

619 | what does the burning bush symbolize? | Exodus | prayon | 61174
Greetings Danielle and welcome to the forum! The burning bush was a supernatural event. The appearance of God in the fire of the burning bush reveals 2 important facts about God. First is God's immanence (a permenant abiding within). Fire is an ancient symbol for God, know as far back as God's appearance to Abraham as a "smoking fire pot with a blazing torch" (Gen 15:17). A bush symbolizes all that is commonplace or near at hand. combining these two things would tell us that the presence of the fire in the bush is symbolic of God's presence at all times and in all things. God is with us. He is the ever present God. The second thing the burning bush tells us is of God's holiness, which sets him apart from sinful humanity and transcendence. Although God is holy and ever present it does not give us the permission or right to intrude upon that holiness. When Moses approached he was commanded to remove his sandals. Sandals carry dirt, the removal of the sandals was symbolic of putting off all personal contamination. It was an act of reverance before God which conveyed his own unworthiiness before God. prayon |

620 | forgiveness confirmed? | 1 John 1:1 | prayon | 61172
Greetings GJH, Suppose you owned a business and you had an employee that had just told you that he was going to quit. Now this employee was your best employee. He worked long hours without high wages. He did overtime to get the job done and never charged you a cent. He was one of those employees who went above and beyond the call of duty. What would you do to get this employee to stay? Would you tell him just about anything to stay? Well when you were not walking with God you were walking with Satan. He does not want to loose you back to Jesus. He will do and say anything to get you to doubt your faith in God. He is truly a deceiver. He will deceive you in all ways. You do not have to and probably won't experience anything "definative" to confirm your relationship. The bible tells you that your relationship has been restored! You are forgiven and your slate has been wiped clean! You must believe and know in your heart that God has forgiven you and the angels in heaven are rejoicing your return. Never doubt God. God is not a God of fear. Fear belongs to Satan. Do not allow Satan to get a foothold in your life by getting you to question God. Claim your Joy!!! prayon |
