561 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64300
Greetings Ed, "got the keys" is just a saying that I have heard many times. What it really means to me is that Jesus conquered death 1Cor 15:56-57. I think it comes from Matt 16:18 where it says "The gates of hell shall not prevail". prayon

565 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64251
Greetings Ed, I have to disagree with you that there is no one in Abraham's busom (or paradise)now for the reasons explained in my above answer to Joe. Many have died not ever hearing of Jesus. Those who lived righteous can not go to heaven because no one can enter in without Jesus. They lived righteous lives so they aren't in Hades. The only place left is is "paradise". prayon |

566 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64247
If I understand you correctly you are saying that there is no one who does not know Jesus? The verse says that God holds all men responsible for what he has shown of himself in creation. These men have had an opportunity to see the clear witness about the character and existance of God through divine revelation. There are a lot of people who know this but have not accepted Jesus, they don't even know there is a Jesus. Those who have accepted the revelation but have not heard the gospel are the ones who will be in Abrahams busom. They will hear of Jesus in Abraham's busom and will then have an opportunity to accept Him at that time. John 14:6 "No one come to the Father except through me". Those who have never heard the gospel have to hear of Jesus or they can't get to the Father. prayon |

567 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64179
Greetings Ed, I believe that those who have never heard the name Jesus will also go to Abrahams busom. We know that no one can enter the kingdom without first our Lord and Savior. Those who have not heard of Jesus can not be responsible for what they do not know. So I think that these people will be waiting in Abraham's bosum for Jesus to let them know who He is. prayon

571 | Jesus couldn't of gone up to heaven. | Luke 23:43 | prayon | 64041
Jesus tells the thief "Today you will be with me in paradise". Some say that this means that Jesus went to heaven before He went to hell to "get the keys". In light of Matt 12:39b-40 "no sign will be give to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be 3 days and nights in the heart of the earth". These verses show that Jesus spent the 3 days and nights before His resurrection in the heart of the earth. He couldn't of gone to heaven to be with the thief there - the thief had to of gone with Him to the heart of the earth which means that paradise is in Hades. Comments?

574 | Isn't Lamentations a book of poetry? | Lamentations | prayon | 63782
Greetings, Lament means to mourne or mourning. "Lamentations" is believed to of been written by the prophet Jeremiah. Jeremiah had predicted the calamity to befall Jerusalem in his book and In Lamentations, he concentrates on the bitter suffering and heartache in more detail. Since it relates so closely to the book of Jeremiah and can be considered "part 2" of the prediction of Jerusalem it is placed after Jeremiah in the prophetic section of the bible even though it is written in the form of poetry. prayon

577 | distance around Jericho | Josh 6:3 | prayon | 63776
Greetings SDTaylor, I could find only limited information on the size of Jericho. The Nelson’s illustrated Bible dictionary states: "By far the most imposing site of the three is Old Testament Jericho, a pear-shaped mound about 366 meters (400 yards) long, north to south, 183 meters (200 yards) wide at the north end, and some 67 meters (70 yards) high. It has been the site of numerous archaeological diggings." The Believer’s study Bible in 6:2–5 says "Jericho was a city of about 9 acres that would have taken about 20–30 minutes to march around." The city, which was built on a hill, was fortified by a double ring of walls, the outer 6 feet thick and the inner 12 feet thick. prayon |
