1121 | Why the dispute? | Jude 1:9 | prayon | 9024
The body of some commentators view the body of Moses as symbolic, the body of Moses "being intended to represent the Mosiac law and institutions" (Zech 3:1), in the same manner in which modern Christians call the church "the body of Christ". Some also say in the Hebrew books that Satan disputed the burial, claiming the body because of the blood of the Egyptian who Moses slew, and because of the leaders sin at Meribah (Ex 17:5-6, Num 20:5, 8-9). prayon

1123 | Was Abraham a Muslim? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 9004
Abraham was the son of Terah, a descendent of Shem. Shem is the ancestor of Isreal, and was rewarded for a special relationship with God. Abraham was known as the first great patriarch of Isreal - an Isrealite, not a Muslim. He is, however, revered by the Muslims and the Christians as the epitome of human faith. He has been called the pioneer of trust in God. Terah, Abraham's father, was portrayed by ancient rabbinic interpreters as a manufacturer and worshiper of idols, which goes with God's command to Abraham to leave his father's house. prayon |

1130 | What does "a measure of faith" mean? | Rom 12:3 | prayon | 8984
Andrew, a measure of faith is just that - a measurement of faith. The measure of faith should be understood as the same as "gifts that differ according to the grace given to us" (v. 6) and corresponds to Paul's similar statements about gifts in 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4. |

1131 | Why did God harden Pharaoh's heart? | Ex 7:3 | prayon | 8946
Good question Hiram! Upon God ultimately rests the responsibility for the well-being of some and the discomfuture of others, and He is well able to bear it. In Exo 33:19 God tells us that He "will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and show mercy to whom I will show mercy. This tells us specifically that He will not show mercy to all. The Pharaoh is cautioned at the outset as to the consequences of non-compliance with the divine command. In addition, Exo 8:15,32; 9:34 states that Pharaoh hardened his own heart. Hardening of the heart is the choice of man. Pharaoh freely chose a life of resisting God. Pharaoh was a greedy man. The Hebrews were free labor for the Pharaoh. He was not about to let such a great resource go. Even after he did say they were to go he changed his mind and went after them to bring them back (Exo 14:5). |

1132 | Mark, Couldn't of been God.... | Gen 18:2 | prayon | 8944
How can you misunderstand John 1:18; "No man hath seen God at any time" (KJV), "No one has ever seen God" (NRSV). Exo 33:23 also states tht no man shall see my face. According to Eerdmans Word Studies of the New Testament "The 'seeing' intended here is seeing of the divine essence rather than of the divine person". This can lead us to think that maybe it was His shekinah glory. The Everyman's Bible Commentary says that He has come to man through the one who has always been at the Fathers side. This usually designates Jesus Christ. I am led to believe that who they saw was Jesus Christ. To explain Exo 24:10 - isn't Jesus and God one? How would they of known the difference between Jesus and God?
1133 | Why destroy Sodom and Gom if no God law | Gen 18:20 | prayon | 8920
I am not quite sure where you got the idea that there was no law violated. Many of God's laws were being broken in Sodom and Gomorrah. Sodom and Gomorrah are remembered as the wicked cities that brought God's divine wrath upon them. He destroyed these two cities because of the wickedness of the people. Both of these two cities are repeatedly brought up throughout the old and new testaments as a warning and sometimes as a accusation against the covenant people.

1135 | Why the number 7? | Bible general Archive 1 | prayon | 8910
Greetings Nolan! I thought I would add a little more. The symbolism of 7 should also be traced back to the symbolism of its components, three and four, which represent divinity and humanity. Therefore, the number 7 represents the union between God and man. Ciero called it the "knot and cement of all things" because in the number 7 the spiritual and the natural world were comprehended in one idea. Isn't the number 7 awesome?!?!? prayon
1136 | Mark, Couldn't of been God.... | Gen 18:2 | prayon | 8909
Greetings Mark! In John 1:18 it states that "No man hath seen God at any time". We know that this has to be accurate since it is in the bible. It goes on to say "It is God the only Son,who is close to the Father's heart, who has made him known". The NT teaches that Christ existed co-eternally with God the Father and in Christ, God revealed his essence in a way that could be seen and touched. Therefore, it is probable that at times Christ would take on the apperance of humanity when He wished to make himself known to man. I believe it was Jesus Christ that Abraham and the others mentioned in Exodus really saw. prayon
