21 | What does the fig tree symbolize here | Mark 11:21 | philemcc | 78716
As to what the fig tree symbolizes. All through the bible God uses trees and fruit to express His meaning…. Genesis 3:2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " Rev 22:1Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. Matt 7:15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. John 15:11"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. In the context of Mark 11 I believe the fig tree represents the traditions of men based on the written word….. Col 2:6So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, 7rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. 8See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. 9For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, 10and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority. philemcc |

22 | Is this scripture Luke 37-38 in regard ? | Luke 7:47 | philemcc | 77404
She loved Jesus because she knew her many sins have been forgiven, the Pharisee didn’t consider himself a sinner. He only saw the sin of others (vs39), not his own. She felt God’s love, he felt no love at all. Luke 7: 47 Therefore I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; that's why she loved much. But the one who is forgiven little, loves little." philemcc |

23 | Is this verse referring to Christians | Luke 12:47 | philemcc | 81656
Jesus' answer to Peter's question by asking a question, "Who is the faithful and wise manager?" He is pointing out that all people will be held responsible for their actions (what they believe). Paul expressed this same idea in: Rom 2:6 God "will give to each person according to what he has done." 7To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. 8But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. philemcc |

24 | John 1:18 "only begotten God". | John 1:18 | philemcc | 76613
I can’t help but step in here. I am not a student of the original languages or do I read many different translations of the Bible, my personal choice is NIV. What John 1:18 means to me is, that the unwilling heart has never seen God even though God can be clearly seen as explained, (Rom1: 19 since what can be known about God is evident among them, because God has shown it to them. 20 From the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what He has made. As a result, people are without excuse.) God had to reveal Himself to the world in a way that would force it to make a decision. If we were not able to see God why would Jesus have said, “ Blessed are the pure in heart, because they will see God.” Phil |

25 | Is lifting His name related to this vs? | John 12:32 | philemcc | 78844
We are not told to do it,, God has already... Phil 2:8And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! 9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, philemcc |

26 | Why is important to worship god in life? | Rom 1:17 | philemcc | 81508
God is the source of all life, to not worship Him is to deny this and separate oneself from life. ROM 1: 17For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." God's Wrath Against Mankind 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. philemcc |

27 | Do inalienable rights include salvation? | Rom 1:24 | philemcc | 78833
According to Webster inalienable means: incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred and rights means: something to which one has a just claim: as a : the power or privilege to which one is justly entitled. I would have to say no because of….. Rom 2: 1You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. 2Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based on truth. 3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment? 4Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God's kindness leads you toward repentance? 5But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. 6God "will give to each person according to what he has done." philemcc |

28 | Do inalienable rights include salvation? | Rom 1:24 | philemcc | 78928
The original question was about inalienable rights, those that could not be lost or taken away, those a US citizens has under the constitution as an example. We are not born with any rights in regards to God. This is the problem Job was faced with, why was life so unfair, as an example his remarks in chapter 23. What he discovered is that life was not about himself, but about God! Job 42: 4 "You said, 'Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.' 5 My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. 6 Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes." Now the socialist point of view is that everything has rights, animals, trees, the environment, the creation, etc. As God explained to me, none of us ever had any rights period. The Kingdom of God is a theocracy and He is Lord of Lords, King of Kings. Rom 9: 13Just as it is written: "Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated." 14What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."…… 19One of you will say to me: "Then why does God still blame us? For who resists his will?" 20But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? "Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, 'Why did you make me like this?' " 21Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use? 22What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath--prepared for destruction? Hope this answers your question -- Do inalienable rights include salvation? philemcc |

29 | When does God forgive me? | Rom 3:1 | philemcc | 79024
God has not only forgiven us… Rom 8: 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. But also peace in our heart….. Rom 5: 1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And a new birth into a living Hope…. 1 Peter 1: 3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7These have come so that your faith--of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire--may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. philemcc |

31 | Do all those in Romans 1:18-20 hear? | Rom 10:17 | philemcc | 76448
They could; Mat 13:14 In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: You will listen and listen, yet never understand; and you will look and look, yet never perceive. 15 For this people's heart has grown callous; their ears are hard of hearing, and they have shut their eyes; otherwise they might see with their eyes and hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn back--and I would cure them. God does not just let people go their own way,, Jam 4:5 Or do you think it's without reason the Scripture says that the Spirit He has caused to live in us yearns jealously? 6 But He gives greater grace. Therefore He says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Hope this helps Phil |

32 | Do all those in Romans 1:18-20 hear? | Rom 10:17 | philemcc | 76477

33 | Is hearing necessary for salvation? | Rom 10:17 | philemcc | 76681
If a person hears and believes the truth of the gospel then repentance and confession are a given, not a act to be performed but the results of the change in their belief. Two examples are: Job 42:4 You told me to listen while you spoke and to try to answer your questions. 5 In the past I knew only what others had told me, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. 6 So I am ashamed of all I have said and repent in dust and ashes. Isaiah 6:5 I said, "There is no hope for me! I am doomed because every word that passes my lips is sinful, and I live among a people whose every word is sinful. And yet, with my own eyes I have seen the King, the Lord Almighty." Phil |

34 | Did Jesus die for the whole world? | Rom 10:17 | philemcc | 76683
It keeps coming back to whoever will,, 1 John 2:1 I am writing this to you, my children, so that you will not sin; but if anyone does sin, we have someone who pleads with the Father on our behalf—Jesus Christ, the righteous one. 2 And Christ himself is the means by which our sins are forgiven, and not our sins only, but also the sins of everyone. 35 | Resist His will? | Rom 10:17 | philemcc | 76799
I would have to say yes or Jesus would not have prayed: Matt 26: 39 Going a little farther, He fell on His face, praying, "My Father! If it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will." Also it is not God’s will for man to reject Him but: Rom 1: 21 For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless minds were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man, birds, four-footed animals, and reptiles. 24 Therefore God delivered them over in the cravings of their hearts to sexual impurity, so that their bodies were degraded among themselves. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served something created instead of the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. philemcc |

36 | "God uses the weak to confound the wise" | 1 Corinthians | philemcc | 76472
Yes,, 1 cor 1:26 Brothers, consider your calling: not many are wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth. 27 Instead, God has chosen the world's foolish things to shame the wise, and God has chosen the world's weak things to shame the strong. 28 God has chosen the world's insignificant and despised things--the things viewed as nothing--so He might bring to nothing the things that are viewed as something, 29 so that no one can boast in His presence. Are any of us are right?? Mat 19: 16Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" 17"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." philemcc |

38 | J. Preston Eby? | 2 Cor 11:4 | philemcc | 82983
Norrie I don't know who Mr. Eby is but I know what the Bible says!!! Rev 20: 10And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever..... 15If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. and then in 2 Peter 2: 1But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping. philemcc |

39 | Understand Hagar and Sarah illustration? | Gal 4:21 | philemcc | 77364
Hagar and her son represent the fulfilling of God’s promises by our own efforts, the Jews under the Law, if you do these things you will live. The birth of Isaac was the result of God fulfilling His promise, not the effort of man but the Grace of God, the righteous shall live by faith. Eph 2: 8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God's gift-- 9 not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are His making, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time so that we should walk in them. philemcc |

40 | Understand Hagar and Sarah illustration? | Gal 4:21 | philemcc | 77371
These are the children of the promise Rom 4: 1 What then can we say that Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh, has found? 2 If Abraham was justified by works, then he has something to brag about--but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness. 4 Now to the one who works, pay is not considered as a gift, but as something owed. 5 But to the one who does not work, but believes on Him who declares righteous the ungodly, his faith is credited for righteousness. 6 Likewise, David also speaks of the blessing of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 How happy those whose lawless acts are forgiven and whose sins are covered! 8 How happy the man whom the Lord will never charge with sin! Gal 4:28And you brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise. Rom 4: 13 For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would inherit the world was not through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. 14 If those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made empty and the promise is canceled. 15 For the law produces wrath; but where there is no law, there is no transgression. 16 This is why the promise is by faith, so that it may be according to grace, to guarantee it to all the descendants--not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of Abraham's faith. He is the father of us all philemcc |
