42 | Do altars belong in christian churches? | Ex 17:15 | mbooker | 97873
Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. Ps 149 1-3 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Ps 150 Concerning dancing before the Lord, is it forbidden during what we typically today call 'worship' service? Where exactly in scripture can we find the prescribed elements of worship? Is praise one of those elements? |

Yes, religion may do that to you but… ‘where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty’ 2 Cor 3:17 and a man named Jesus, aka ‘The Truth’ (John 14:6) , makes us free :) sorry Sir Pent :), but when I read the post, the above came up in me :). 44 | did God ever stop time for a day? | Joshua | mbooker | 72526
Joshua 10 shows the account: Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. vv12-13 |

I have been reading thru this thread and more than once the same question has gone thru my mind :) (especially since I am a woman!! LOL). I was wondering if the old saying was true: What's good for the goose is good for the gander! But seriously, one man is enough for me! :) |

49 | Why should we obey God? | Psalm | mbooker | 64093
Because he said so :) just kidding... I think Psalms 19:7-11 gives a few good reasons to obey God. The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb. By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Deut 28 also gives a long list of blessings for obeying and gives even more curses for disobeying... Abba Father Bless... |

50 | Why should we obey God? | Psalm | mbooker | 64168
Good morning Whatever... When I read your post, 1 Cor 3:12-15 came to my mind. While this passage does not explicitly speak of a 'degree of obedience', I do believe that the degree to which you do the good works that Abba Father planned for you to do (Eph 2:10), will directly correspond with the reward you receive (1 Cor 2:14-15). But if anyone builds upon the Foundation, whether it be with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, the work of each (one) will become (plainly, openly) known (shown for what it is); for the day (of Christ) will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done. If the work which any person has built on this Foundation (any product of his efforts whatever) survives (this test), he will get his reward. But if any person's work is burned up (under the test), he will suffer the loss (of it all, losing his reward), though he himself will be saved, but only as (one who has passed) through fire. 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 Amp For we are God's own handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, (born anew) that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live). Ephesians 2:10 Amp Now… :) If you are asking if a person has to have a certain level/degree of obedience to get to heaven, I think if John 3:16 and John 6:28-29. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God: that you believe on him whom he has sent. John 6:28-29 Abba Father Bless… |

51 | Why should we obey God? | Psalm | mbooker | 64171
Good morning again :) Another scripture that came to mind: No one who abides in Him (who lives and remains in communion with and in obedience to Him--deliberately, knowingly, and habitually) commits (practices) sin. No one who [habitually] sins has either seen or known Him (recognized, perceived, or understood Him, or has had an experiential acquaintance with Him). Boys (lads), let no one deceive and lead you astray. He who practices righteousness [who is upright, conforming to the divine will in purpose, thought, and action, living a consistently conscientious life] is righteous, even as He is righteous. (But) he who commits sin (who practices evildoing) is of the devil (takes his character from the evil one), for the devil has sinned (violated the divine law) from the beginning. The reason the Son of God was made manifest (visible) was to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works the devil [has done]. No one born (begotten) of God (deliberately, knowingly, and habitually) practices sin, for God's nature abides in him (His principle of life, the divine sperm, remains permanently within him); and he cannot practice sinning because he is born (begotten) of God. 1 John 3:6-9 Amp |

55 | Help to borrower who doesn't pay back | Ps 37:21 | mbooker | 70053
Here are two passages that may be able to help you in this situation: And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Luke 6:33-34 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. Matt 18:15-17 Meredith |

56 | Anyone killed for stopping God's work | Ps 105:15 | mbooker | 57252
Good morning Kalos! I have printed your post and will look up each scripture reference later today. When I was first pointed to 1 John 2:20, I became excited because I learned that I was indeed anointed! Some time later in Sunday school, I made the statement that we(believers) are all anointed and I remember the teacher implying that only ministers/pastors were anointed. I referenced 1 John 2:20 and left it at that. Thanks for the post and scripture references. Abba Father bless you... |

12. In Mark 6:5, it says that Yeshua "could do no miracle". However, Mark 10:27 says that "with G-d, all things are possible". Which is it? But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. Mark 6:4-5 In Matthew's account it gives the reason Jesus could not do might work: And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief. Matt 13:57-58 The people's unbelief was the problem. Considering the bible truth that Jesus 'did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief' and Mark 10:27, 'With God, all things are possible', I was lead to this scripture: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. Mark 9:23 Thus I see no contradition between Mark 6:5 and Mark 10:27. Abba Father Bless... Meredith |
