Thanks for the scriptures Searcher. John 5:2-3 tells of a great multitude that lay in the 5 porches. John 5:6 tells me that 'Jesus saw him lie'. It doesn't not say 'He saw the multitude'. The reason I point this out is because in other places in scripture, it tells us that Jesus saw the multitute and healed them: But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; Matt 12:15 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. Matt 14:14 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Matt 15:30 ***************** I agree that if someone does not get healed, that does not invalidate Abba Father, the Lord that heals. ***************** How do we reconcile Mark 13:22 (false Christs and false prophets showing signs and wonders) with Mark 16:17 'And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover'? False Christs and false prophets shall show signs and wonders but they that believe shall have signs following them. I would really love to devle into this one so that I can learn how to discern whether false Christs and prophets or those that believe are showing the signs and wonders. Was Jesus rebuking the man when he said 'Except you see signs and wonders, you will not believe'? The next thing Jesus says is 'Go your way, your son lives'. Did Jesus WANT this man to believe and thus he said 'your son lives' and the son lived? Also, I was not saying that I persay wants signs and wonders. I already believe in the Lord my GOD. I was just saying that if the Chruch as a whole exhibited the power that Christ did while he was here, would the unbelievers become believers? questions, questions, questions. I am full of them! :) Hope you are able to lend more scriptures to enlighten. Abba Father bless and keep you. |

222 | Question | Is 57:1 | mbooker | 46268
'However again I believe it has to serve God’s purpose to heal them. Each healing in the Bible had a purpose. All showed the glory and power of God. In the New Testament most were to validate either Jesus or his apostles' I have a few questions. 1. We still have sick people in the world as they did in the gospels accounts. If the purpose of the healings showed the glory and power of Abba Father, does scripture say we can no longer see the glory and power of Abba Father thru healings like the ones performed in the gospels? 2. If most of the healings were to validate Jesus and his apostles, is it unscriptural for Jesus to be validated today thru signs and wonders (which include healing)? Some may never read the bible, so why can't we be living letters(doing signs and wonders) and maybe, just maybe, they will believe on our Father because of those signs and wonders. |

Sorry if I offended you about the fear thing. I was just taking your words and responding to them. Glad to know you fear no man and reverence our Father. Does scripture teach that the suffering of his children brings glory to GOD our Father? If so, I have no other choice but to believe that 'the suffering the young woman experienced was a means by which God glorified Himself'. I know the bible talks about the sufferings that Jesus went thru and it talks about the fellowship of his sufferings. I just have to find those and read them to see if they indeed support the statement that 'suffering brings GOD glory'. If you know of scriptures that support the above statement, please share. Thanks for your quick response. Oh, btw, that's Sister MBooker :) |

224 | After reading about Naaman | Is 57:1 | mbooker | 46261
Greetings Mommapbs I went and read about Naaman: II Kings 5:1-15 'Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, because by him the LORD had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper. And the Syrians had gone out on raids, and had brought back captive a young girl from the land of Israel. She waited on Naaman's wife. Then she said to her mistress, "If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy." And Naaman went in and told his master, saying, "Thus and thus said the girl who is from the land of Israel." Then the king of Syria said, "Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel." So he departed and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold, and ten changes of clothing. Then he brought the letter to the king of Israel, which said, Now be advised, when this letter comes to you, that I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy. And it happened, when the king of Israel read the letter, that he tore his clothes and said, "Am I God, to kill and make alive, that this man sends a man to me to heal him of his leprosy? Therefore please consider, and see how he seeks a quarrel with me." So it was, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, "Why have you torn your clothes? Please let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel." Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha's house. And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, "Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean." But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, "Indeed, I said to myself, "He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.' Are not the Abanah[1] and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?" So he turned and went away in a rage. And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, "My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, "Wash, and be clean'?" So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. And he returned to the man of God, he and all his aides, and came and stood before him; and he said, "Indeed, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel; now therefore, please take a gift from your servant."' Naaman did believe or have faith in what the little maid from Isreal said about the prophet in Samaria being able to heal him of his leprosy, didn't he? Otherwise, why did he depart to Isreal? And even before he was healed, he said 'Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his GOD, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper'. That sounds a lot like the woman with the issue of blood to me. He did believe there was a GOD in Isreal at this point, didn't he? After he got healed of the leprosy, he said 'Behold, now I know that there is no GOD in all the earth, but in Isreal'. Though he may not have submitted himself to the GOD of Isreal before his healing, he nevertheless believed that the GOD of Isreal existed. After he was healed, then he proclaimed that the GOD of Isreal is the only GOD there is (now that makes me want to shout!!). The Bible says in the mouth of two or three witnesses let every word be established, so do you know of any more scripture passages that show someone who did not have faith to get healed be healed? What I want to do is read it in context and see what circumstances where involved. Thanks again and Abba Father bless you always!! |

And another: Luke 17:11-19 'And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole' Just something to think about. Now, if you have examples in scripture where someone wanted healing, did not get it as those in the previously mentioned scriptures did, and still gave glory to GOD, please share them with me. I can only base my faith on what scripture teaches, not on the experiences of my brothers and sisters in Christ. Thanks for answering. And Abba Father bless you always. |

Please don't fear, especially if you are responding to me. We have been delievered from fear and our Father did not give us a spirit of fear. As long as you speak scripture, what is there to fear? The righteous are as bold as a lion. As for who glorifies Abba Father more, Jesus said it better than I ever could: 'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.' The young lady you mentioned brought scripture passages to mind: Luke 5:18-26 'And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.' When were they 'all amazed'? When did they 'glorify God'? After the man sick with palsy obeyed Jesus and arose, took up his couch, and went inside his house. After they saw this with their own eyes, then they glorified GOD. Had the man sick with palsy not gotten up, I wonder if the people still would have glorified GOD. Luke 18:35-43 'And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God. In this instance, the blind man received his sight, followed Jesus and glorified God. After all the people saw it, then they gave praise unto God. Again, I can only wonder if the blind man had not received his sight, would the people still have praised GOD. Another reference showing the people glorifying GOD after healing took place: Matthew 15:29-31 'And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there. And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. And another: Luke 13:11-13 'And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. |

I'm going to read about the Canaanite woman... Scribe, thanks so much!! I have read both accounts in Matthew and Mark and my faith has been stirred. The NIV says 'Woman you have great faith! Your request is granted.' Lord, I want great faith! Thanks again for those scripture references. My mind is being renewed and I am being transformed. |

228 | Last question | Is 57:1 | mbooker | 46202
Thanks. Your chair example helped me see where you are coming from and I agree with you. Just as I have faith that the chair will hold me, I have faith the my Father will heal me. And no, the chair doesn't hold me because I believe it will and no, my Father does not heal because I believe He will. The chair holds me because thats what it does. My Father heals me because that's what he does. And as you said with the chair, I must believe, then act on that trust and sit before I can benefit from what I believe (that the chair can hold me). Likewise, I must believe my Father will heal, act on that belief, then sit (or like Hebrews 4:11 says 'labor to enter into his rest') before I can benefit from what I believe. I've had been reading Hebrews not too long ago and chapters 3 and 4 talk about the dangers of unbelief and how 'they could not enter in because of unbelief'. Heb 4:2 even said that 'but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it'. And I guess that would be an entirely different subject so I'll stop now. :) Again thanks for listening and responding. Abba Father bless you! |

230 | Last question | Is 57:1 | mbooker | 46134
So do you believe Jesus was taking the focus off the Healer and putting it on the woman with the issue of blood when he said 'thy faith has made thee whole'? Also, I pray that I don't sound as if I am condemning someone if they don't 'have faith' for healing. God forbid that I would do that. My simple goal in all of this was to find out from scripture, not from people's experiences, if my Father DOES NOT grant a request for healing. I don't like strife(but I don't feel strife with you Mommapbs) and after reading some of the posts, I feel like this may be getting a little out of hand. So this may be my last question on the matter. May we all be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God our Father. Thanks so much for listening and responding. |

'I just hope for their sakes that the Lord doesn't give them a big dose of reality' What would that big dose of reality be that would shatter our ('those that get off on this healing kick') faith. Thanks for answering. |

I just thought of and found another scripture that apprears to connect faith and healing. 'And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked: The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked' Acts 14:8-10 |

Scribe, I think you said it so beautifully. I too believe that 'The idea that saints have become sick and even died of their sickness does not make void the Word of God.' Your words here have encouraged me too and reminded me that 'The servant of the Lord must not strive but be gentle toward all men, apt to teach'. Thanks so much for that dose of refreshing and strengthening medicine. May our Father bless and keep you and may you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. |

235 | points to address | Is 57:1 | mbooker | 46028
There is a lot in here but I would like to take one thing at a time. 'But is healing really based on your faith alone?' When I read this I thought of the woman with the issue of blood: 'thy faith has made thee whole' (Mt 9:22). Then I thought of Jairus: 'fear not, believe only' (Lk 8:50). Then the centurion (LK 7:2-10). Then of what Jesus said in Mark 11:22-23. Healing may not be based on faith alone, but from these scriptures, is not faith important? If faith is important, I wonder at the statement: 'But healing does not depend on faith'. The second part of that statement, 'Healing depends on the Healer' stirs this up in me: 1. I believe that the power to heal comes from The Lord that heals. I don't doubt that. 2. If I depend on the Lord that heals, what am I depending on Him to do? I am depending on Him to heal me in whatever area I am sick (ie physical, mental, spiritual) because He is the Lord that heals. Because of #2, some may say I am trying pressure GOD into doing my will. Well... I beg to differ because I believe it is my Father's will that I be in health (III John 2). So, if it's His will and I have asked according to His will... you know how the story ends (I John 5:14-15) 'I have seen those of great faith die'. Am I to base my faith on what brother Keefauver has seen or on what the Word of GOD says? Of course I am to base my faith on the Word of GOD and not what is seen by me or other brothers and sisters (Walk by faith, not by sight). So if brother Keefauver says he has seen people of 'great faith die', my question is were they sick and if so, did they have 'great faith' that physical healing had been provided by Jesus? 'In fact, everyone Jesus healed eventually died'. I would like to make it clear that when I speak of healing, I am speaking of a person having a disease (cancer, heart disease, diabeties, etc) and being cured or healed of that disease. The disease is no longer present in their physcial body. Everyone one that Jesus healed may have eventually died but did they die because of the disease Jesus healed them of? I'd better stop now because I didn't want this response to be too long. I think we can easily get away from our initial point when we keep expanding and bringing in other points. So, I'll be waiting to hear back from you. Blessings and peace to you |

Hey heisthe1 A lot of what you posted sounds like what I remember reading the the book 'Messenger of Satan', a book by Charles Capps on that thorn in the flesh. Thanks for the scriptural reference. I hope to get the book soon and re-read it and post all the scripture references he list. |

Answers to your questions: 1. No. I am basing that belief on the gospel accounts of Jesus' healing of people. 2. Playing the adversarial role here (no problem. I think it helps me dig into the Word, which is good for me! :) How can one assert that it is ALWAYS God's will to heal physically in this life ? Because of what Jesus did (went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil Acts 10:38) and I hadn't seen in scripture where Jesus healed someone and they did not walk away from him alive. In other words, I haven't seen where Jesus healed someone by letting them die. If it's GOD's will to heal me (and he provided that healing that by the stripes of Jesus) and not you, does that make Him a respecter of persons? Another scripture that leads me to believe in physical healing is Proverbs 4:20-22. Could you share those instances in Scripture where He does not heal (I already have the situation w/David and posted my response to that). How can one presume to know the absolute will of God in every instance? If it's an instance of healing, don't we already have GOD's will (WORD) on that (I think I listed scriptures in my very first post in this discussion)? 3. If I 'name' (ask) it and what I name is according to His will, then I 'claim' (know I have the petition I ask) it, am I unscriptural? Jesus said once(and maybe more than once) that he knew the Father heard him (John 11:41-42). And I wanna be just like Jesus! LOL OK, That's it for now for me. Hope to post with ya soon. Always in Him |

239 | Thorn in the flesh | Is 57:1 | mbooker | 45317
Just one point I'd like to address. The thorn in the flesh that Paul had to deal with. Are you saying it was some type of sickness? He said it was a messenger of Satan. I read a book dealing with 'the thorn in the flesh' issue. In the book, the author went thru scripture and found instances where the term 'thorn in the flesh' was used and if I'm not mistaken, they referred to a person or a people. I will try and get the book and pull out those scriptures. Well maybe two points I'd like to address. If we always pray 'if the LORD wills', can we ever pray according to I John 5:14-15. Thanks again. Yours in Christ |

240 | Me again | Is 57:1 | mbooker | 45276
It's me again! :) I did think of Moses when I wondered about David 'changing' GOD's mind about the child. But with Moses, didn't he ask GOD to remember Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the covenant he had with them? I now wonder if David had prayed as Moses and found a covenant promise to stand on, if the LORD would have repented. 'There are so many that we are lifting up before the Throne of Grace for physical healing, and the healing we ask for doesn't come' Right away, I ask, if 'the prayer of faith shall heal the sick', why didn't this prayer of faith(your statement above) heal the sick? When I ask this question, I am not questioning GOD's sovereignty. I am simply relying on the truth of his WORD because He said what ever He says, he'll do and whatever He purposes, He will bring to pass(Isaiah). I want to be a student of my Father's Word and for me that means asking questions when something I see does not line up with what the WORD says. So do you know of scriptures that may be a prerequisite to 'the prayer of faith shall heal the sick and the LORD shall raise him up'? Also, if I ask anything according to his will, he hears me and I know I have the petition I have asked (I John 5:14-15). So, I guess the first thing we need to know is if it is GOD's will for us to have physical healing. Would you agree with that? Again, thanks for listening and if I'm getting on your nerves :), I understand. I can be a pest sometimes! :) Oh and by the way, currently, I am not interceding for anyone for physical healing, but I do believe that it is His will for us to be healed physically in this life(not by death) as well as the next. And if what I believe is wrong, I need to have my mind renewed and that's what I'm after. I once heard someone say that those that disagree with you do you the most good. They force you to go to the WORD and you will either find error or confirmation in what you believe. Grace and Peace be multiplied to you. |
