21 | I would like to know the original prayer | Matt 6:9 | lookN4luv | 136447
A thought to ponder and pass on to others......How many Christians invite Christ into their life... their family.... their heart, and... their home ,.... then ignore Him. I believe Jesus is a perfect example of how to communicate with God. No one comes to God but through Jesus. Yet, because He deals with us individually, ..our prayers should also be mostly individual and not general or a mocking of what we've heard. I beleive that Jesus' model prayers are to teach us to always give the highest reverence to our Heavenly Father, the Almighty God. And as you said ... to make sure our prayers align with God's will. ('!') Thanks, JKW |

We cannot speak that which we do not know. If we do not have goodness in our heart, goodness cannot come from within ourselves. and ... If we have not evil in our hearts, evil would not come from us. All mankind has some kind of evil in their heart. Only Jesus is without evil. |

26 | Where are the dead before rapture? | 2 Cor 5:6 | lookN4luv | 136282
I believe the book of revelations clearly states that all shall come together to be judged before God. "Even hell shall give up her dead to be judged" this is the final judgement. I personally believe that even someone who died 500 years ago will not know of any time period between their death and this final judgement day.It will seem like an instant to all mankind..... does this make any sense? ... just my opinion. 30 | any opinions about "thorn in the flesh" | 2 Cor 12:7 | lookN4luv | 130979
Searcher56 ... I'm sure most if not all of the Bible verses have been discused here before. If this were reason enough to stop asking questions, then this forum wouldn't be needed anymore, would it? I asked for opinions about the "thorn" in this verse, not instructions on using the forum. I have a different view than anything I read in the threads posted back in 2001. The whole world has changed since 9 -11 -01 and maybe someone might have a better understanding, so please, please, please, do not remove questions from the unanswered page when you have no answer/opinion to offer. Sometimes people who post a question might be living in dire straits and seeking the value of the Biblical answer, so they can instate this principal in their life and perhaps walk a little closer with the Creator, Savior, and Holy Spirit. Maybe you should try to find some empathy for the other members here and simply "pass or play". .... ('!') hey ... take it to heart. 2 Corinth. 12:7 ... |

Excuse me, sir. But how did you come up with " 911 didn't change the Bible"? No one ever even made a hint about anything like that. In my statement to you, there isn't anything I said that could have been mis-construed to say such as that. And your saying my question has been answered, well that's only your point of veiw. Go back to the thread now and read the wonderful answer Tim Moran offered after yours. I believe NOW the forum has an answer on that thread that we can believe is well rounded. Oh, and about 9-11 did Isaiah Write about this ..Ch.30:25 ??? JKW |

32 | Discovering the will of God | Eph 2:10 | lookN4luv | 129031
Very Well Said, brother. I personally believe people should get away from the " Hollywood" image of a personified God. and channel their thoughts and prayers to the Holy Spirit of our Divine Creator. Be still in His presence and wait. lookN4luv
33 | Discovering the will of God | Eph 2:10 | lookN4luv | 129033
Hi, 1949 ... you sure started off with one of those seemingly imposible to answer questions. What I mean is this ... if everyone's relationship with God the Father is unique and personal ... then how can anyone tell you what is the right way for you? right... WRONG!!! This is a common misconception that can blind us from the Truth ... God's Word. ref. John 1:1 Our Holy, and Gracious Father, God, has much to say to those who seek Him. That is why He laid it upon the hearts of men to share His Word by telling and writting the Holy scriptures as God revealed it to them. In this way God still speaks to us, through His Word. I believe God speaks to us though His Holy Word ... the Bible. If we use Scripture in our prayers, then the Scriptures will also speak back to us and reveal Truth and Light exactly as the Holy Spirit guides... and with His Word God does give us a specific direstion. As far as seeking the will of God in this or that ...it is very important to look into the Word of God (the Truth) when we are anticipating a change or new direction, ... relationships ... career ... finances ... worship ... parenting ...responsabilities ... Think about this ... there are many terrible places to be ... Iraq ... prision ... the grave ... poverty ... but the worst place anyone could ever be is ... outside of the will of God !!! As far as saying you don't believe you have ever had this kind of communication from God ... well think again ... Wasn't it His Holy Spirit that gave you this conviction and made your heart long for a closer relationship with Him? Nobody seeks an answer to a question like this one just because they were bored ... it is the awesome Power of God's Holy Spirit at work within your heart. Proverbs says "Seek Him while He is near". Yes he does have a particular intent for your life but, it is my belief that this is not something we have to " somehow discover" it is already mapped out in His Word. And it is the same intent He has for all of the family of believers. Honor God the Father ... when you know what is right, turn from what is wrong. ...do your best to live a life that does not go outside the boundries God has established in His Word. Be forgiving ... we are only forgiven by the same measure by which we can forgive others. In this way we become "Christ-like" because Jesus (the Christ\Savior) came to be the example of our salvation. It is'nt meant for us to seek some particular life-course or unique calling. There is no puzzle to piece together. If we are blessed, what more could we want or need ? I hope this makes some sense to you and helps you see more clearly. God's blessings be upon you and your families. lookN4luv |

34 | Discovering the will of God | Eph 2:10 | lookN4luv | 129145
Thank you. I don't think I've ever heard a more beautiful explaination. I hope many read this thread and come to the same understanding. Brother, I have stood on both sides of that fence, as sad as that is to admit, yet our Lord (in His perfect time) used my shortcomings in an adversed way to benifit my growth in Christ, my Savior. Trust and obey ... For there's no other way, Amen. this is only intended to be a praise note. However, I would like to ask you just one question, and if you feel you can help me better understand, then please reply when you have the time. ... You had mentioned that if God were talking to many individuals we would need those words in order to live by EVERY Word of God. Well, OK I understand your analogy, but do you believe that there are modern-day Prophets and Visionaries? Here is the reason I ask; God's Word tells us "in the last days...old men will dream dreams and see visions and your son's and daughters will give prophesy..." One other thing that's not easy to understand ... Saul, Isreal's 1st king had to go to Sammual to inquire of the will of God, why did he not have access to hear and understand God for himself? I believe God's ways are unchanging ... the same yesterday , today , and tomorrow. So wouldn't that also include the Prophets? thank you again, JKW |

35 | Discovering the will of God | Eph 2:10 | lookN4luv | 129224
WoW ! Thank you very much. You have shinned new Light on the subject for me. I truely thank you for taking the time to reply. I know that sometimes I tend to look too deeply (maybe) into scripture. And I try to weigh the adversities ... seeking the answer that stands alone. I would greatly appreciate it if I could just run one more thought by you about this, if I may. ..... I know the Bible is the living, breathing, un-ending Word of God. And it is intended to pertain to our lives today as much as it was the day the paper first met the pen. And it is in this realm of thought that I would like to ask you about Peters statement in Acts2:16 If the prophecy of Joel was being fulfilled in those days, then how does it pertain to me today? Please, Mr. Elkins, understand that I am NOT disputing sciptures. I am mearly trying to make sure that I have a clear understanding that does not contradict the truth. I know there is a vast number of people in the world today that believe they are chosen to be amongst the elite, or select few, who have a special connection to the Father, our God. And we are warned about the false prophets. Thanks, I hope to chat with you again soon, JKW |

to jelkins, Well, it's been almost a week since you replied to me and I'm just now getting back to you. Thank you for your gentle answers, to which I say ... hummmm... I'm not trying to dispute you on this issue (as you seem well educated) but, it seems I find relation with many scriptures in the book of Joel. I have seen the darkness covering me and I know why the moon turns to blood. And I understand why he calls it "the great and dreadful day of the Lord". So, as I try to evaluate the answers you gave and the use of scriptures, I do not understand why I still find so much relationship with many books of the O.T. as well as the N.T. In Hebrews 10:5-7 it says; "when Christ came into the world, he said: ..... Here I am it is written about me in the scroll - I have come to do your will, O God." now read Psalms 40:6-8 Please don't think I'm trying to confuse scripture. It's just that I have had many situations in my life that I know the Lord, Jesus led me through. And after I was given understanding, I would also find the same circumstance, outcome, and understanding in the scriptures. And I have seen wonderful things happen that I dare not even talk about. In the 7th chapter of Hebrews the Word of God speaks about the priest Melchizedek. Now, obviously, Jesus is the one and only High Priest foever, but read verse 15. " and what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek (not Jesus) appears...." Please understand why I mention this. It is because I have no earthly father, mother,I've never had an aunt, uncle, cousin, or grandparents. I was born the least of 8 children. And now at 40 years old I find myself to be a very passive person who has carried my cross almost all my life. There is very little that still remains of the me I once knew, yet God has written His laws on my heart, and I rejoice in the shadow of His right arm. Maybe you can help my understanding on a few N.T. verses. Luke 11:52 Luke 12:51 Luke 14:26-27 Please tell me your opinion in Mark 10:17- does the rich young ruler inherit eternal life? If you can provide some clarity for me I would greatly appreciate it. I really don't like the feeling of being different in my veiws. I thank you for your time and patience with me. in Christ, JKW |

hi, 1949. Just a thought ... Do you remember the hymn "In the Garden"? the words may help you see anothers understanding of God's communication. I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses. And the voice I hear falling on my ear the Son of God discloses. And He wlks with me and He talks with me. He tells me I am His own. And the joy we share as we tarry there no other has ever known. in Christ, JKW |

to jelkins, I forgot to mention in my other reply, I also feel that there are no modern day prophets. I believe O.T. prophecies were all stepping stones that lead to Christ. So, with Christ with us, why would we need more prophets, right? JKW |

39 | KJV only movement | 2 Timothy | lookN4luv | 131677
TIA .. You are probably referring to the Septugent or the Vulgate. There are many arguemennts about using different versions of the Bible, but the answer lies in reading a version that is written in the language you speak. (simple huh) The KJV has brought many people into the knowledge of our Father, God almighty. But, most of us do NOT speak Old English, so a more modern version is more likely to be understood. I really enjoy the NIV. thanks JKW |
