201 | Properly Interpreting the Bible | Bible general Archive 3 | lionheart | 190293
Hank, Good morning brother. That's why I will always be a stickler where 2 Peter 1:20,21 2 Timothy 2:15, and 2 Timothy 3:16,17 are concerned. I will never be an expert but I know the EXPERT. Who better than the one who authored the bible. If he has anything in comon with other authors it's he doesnt take kindly with folks tampering with his work. We have all that we need to know. As 2 Peter 1:3 tells us, He's given us all things pertaining to life and godliness. So with all this in mind I think it's a great idea for people to let God's Word speak for it's self. It works every time. In Him, lionheart |

onlyme, I wouldn't know about SDA or not. I view myself as many others as a disciple and follower of Jesus Christ. The result of Jesus fulfilling the law is that we are no longer under it. Look at the gospel accounts of the last supper if you would. They mention a new covenant. The new will supersede the old. Look at the Greek translation for abolish and fulfill. You will notice distinct differences in definition and connotation. Should we read into it differently? With scriptures such as 1 Timothy 4:16, 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16,17 and 2 Peter 1:20,21 in mind do we have any business reading anything into it. Romans 15:4 clarifies allot where the law and the old covenant are concerned. These scriptures aught to be bedrock for all Christians. If not they better be. In Him, lionheart |

onlyme, Matthew 5:17- Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. Did Jesus fulfill or not? Either He didn't or He did. Were not the Ten Commandments part of the Old Covenant. As for Romans 15:4, just about everything. In Him, lionheart |

There can be allot of differences in where people are in there walk with God. But thats a whole other subect. In Him, lionheart |

213 | What is considered an Idol | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140574
Noveta Hi! Worldly people and sometimes Gods people will call the things of God into question. To the unsaved the cross means nothing,But to those who are being saved as Paul states in 1Cor 1:17,18 it is the power of God. The cross is a constant reminder to what Jesus did for us. Idolitry is anything that takes first place ahead of God. God wants first place in our lives. Mtt6:33 Deut 6:5 God wants all of us not just part of us. 1Jn3:21 Says that if our heart doesnt condemn us we have confidence before God. So if you can have a clear conscience dont fret what people will tell you just keep your focus on God and his Word and pray lots. In the end it's what God says that carries the weight. Read Romans chapter 14. Paul adresses matters of the conscience and things that we could call disputable. Read that I think it will help put your heart at ease. Your Brother in Christ lionheart |

215 | How do we evaluate a pastor | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140600
WilBa,God bless you brother. I hear what you are saying. God has called all of us. He called us to be his sons and daughters. It was encumbent on us to answer that call. God calls all of our wives to be supportive. Obviously this poses a problem. Does this mean your Pastor cant minister, thats not for me to say. A couple of thoughts though. First, are the women in the church getting in there and working with the wife? And secondly what can you and the other brothers do to help and encourage your Pastor? My heart goes out to all of you and I will be praying for all of you. Please let me know if there is anything specific I can pray for. Your Brother in Christ: Lionheart |

216 | Shed some light | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140686
I've been real curious as of late. Over the years there has been much discussion and debate over when Jesus Christ will return.I've heard and read post trib, pre trib, the whole nine yards. There more theories out there than I can shake a stick at. The one thing I am sure of is that our Lord is comming back. If I'm still around when he does I get to mmet him in the air. If not then he's gonna get me up. Eighter one works for me. My biggest concern for the time being is just remaining faithful to the end and winning as many souls for Christ as possible. Maybe those of you out there can shed some light on this for me. Thanx lionheart |

219 | What is considered an Idol | Bible general Archive 2 | lionheart | 140735
AO Brother slow your role here for a second. I can appreciate your heart. Anything that will take our priority and focus off of God is dead wrong. God is specific and clear about what constitutes an idol and what constitutes idolitry. In Matthew 23 Jesus calls the pharisees to task for there hypocrisy. He says in vs 15 that those they convert that they make them twice as much a son of hell as they are. In vs 23 Jesus says that they ignore the weightier matters of the law, justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Go ahead and throw love in along with that. These guys themselves were idolitros they went after attention for themseves not God. The wearing of a cross or a fish does not nescessarily constitute idoloitry. Check this out,During the Roman persecution beleivers would use the sign of the fish to identify each other. Brother I want to encourage you To check out Romans chapter 14. Paul addresses things that were disputable matters of that time,Ultimatly it's about our relationship with God.Gods Word is clear on how we should be living and what our priorities must be. My brother thats what I was attempting to say. We cant involve ourselves in anything that will turn us away from God,and for that matter anything that will cause our brothers or sister to stumble and fall. Thats one of the reasons I see Romans 14 as I do. Not all of us see things from the same perspective.I think thats one reason Paul penned Romans 14. God wants his family intact not splintered. Thats why it's encumbant on me as a brother in Christ that if I'm doing something that makes you struggle even if I'm at peace with God about it that I not do it around you. Thats the Godly thing to do, thats the loving thing to do. I have no right to make or cause anyone to stumble. A little sidebar here, I'm a recovering alcaholic by the grace of God with over 15 years clean and sober. It's only because of Jesus Christ that I can say that. So with that in mind I dont put myself in situations that will put my walk with God or my brothers in jepordy. They do the same for me. You know what? It works!! In the end it all comes down to this,Love God and keep his commandments Jn 14:15 and secondly 2Pt 1:18-21 Lets Gods Word speak for itself it will make things perfectly clear. A whole bunch better than we can. I love you brother your great. In Christ lionheart |
