findrichard, Welcome to the forum. First of all a couple of scriptures. 2 Iim 2:15 and 2 Pt 1:20,21. These are bedrock scriptures when it comes to how we handle God's Word. People take things out of context, twist scripture to make it say whatever they want to say and unfortunately this goes on everyday. As 2 Timothy says, we gotta accurately handle God's Word. In Him, lionheart |

1625 | Why does Jesus come as a thief? | 2 Pet 3:10 | lionheart | 188160
Cheri, Hello,I think where most of us get into trouble where Revelation is concerned is that we forget why it was written. When John wrote Revelation the church was undergoing extreme persecution and Revelation was written to encourage them during this time of persecution.It also carries encouragement and hope for us today. In Him, lionheart |

1626 | Need help with Forgiveness and Sins. | 1 John | lionheart | 168430
Dear believer, I would like to say this to you right up front,I am highly relatable to your situation and my heart goes out to you. I want to encourage you to get whatever help you need,God would have you do nothing less.My biggest advice to you at this time is to stay close to God and His people. Dont try and go this alone. Romans 8:1 -Therefore,there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. When Jesus Became Lord and Savior of your life all your sins were forgiven.Read Ephesians 2:8-10 It's Gods grace,This is what God has done for all of us. Take to heart Matthew 28:20 where Jesus tells us that he is with us always. We will be dealing with sin till Jesus comes back or He takes us home,whichever comes first. Check out 1 John 1:9. We can do this everyday. God is faithful,even when we arent. 1 John 3:1 this is what God thinks of you,dont let anyone talk you out of that. We are who God says we are.We have the greatest defense attorney of all time,Jesus Christ,and the bible tells us that he interceeds on our behalf. Read all of 1 John. Remember light dispels darkness. 1627 | losing salvation | 1 John | lionheart | 225513
christbeliever7, First of all welcome to the forum we're glad to have you with us. We see throughout the Gospels Jn 3:16 for example where it says life everlasting or eternal life. Salvation isn't something that can be lost. People don't lose their salvation,you don't lose your salvation. People can and do turn their backs on God and walk away from Him. But there is good news. We can repent and God does forgive. When we refer to those who walk away oft time we are talking about those who choose to continue in their sin rather than repent. Take a good look at the Gospels,spend some time in Romans and 1John. I think this will give you a better understanding of what you have and it will help build your faith. In Him, lionheart |

1628 | God's guidance on resolving conflict | 1 John | lionheart | 229672
Traveler3, Welcome to the forum. Give 1 John a good look. John gives us the framework for where our hearts should be and this is where our hearts should be. This is an important starting point. In Him, lionheart |

1629 | Are you saved if you speak in tongues. | 1 John | lionheart | 238017
Hello Purch, Glad to have you here. Doc made outstanding points in his answer to you. I want to add this though and I'm sure Doc will agree. If I've misunderstood your question please forgive me. Whether one speaks in tongues or not does not determine ones salvation. It's a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jn 3:16,Ro 10:9,10, Eph 2:8,9. The things Doc shared with you will evidence ones salvation. Jesus and His finished work on the cross is the key to it all. In Him, lionheart |

1630 | Are Christians meant to be push overs? | 1 John 1:2 | lionheart | 168615
Jehovason, Welcome to the forum.In answer to your question. Push overs? Not even on our worst day.Ephesians 6:10-17. We just fight with different weapons. What the world perceives as weakness and foolishness is our strength. Pushovers? Not a Chance! In Christ, lionheart |

1631 | Human Freedom and Free Will | 1 John 1:3 | lionheart | 218418
snookie, 1 Corinthians 6:12- All things are lawful for me,but not all things are profitable. All are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Life will involve a series of choices and God has granted us the the freedom and ability to choose. Part of God's sovereignty is that he will allow things to happen and oft times we gotta decide, but through all of God is always sovereign. In Him, lionheart |

1632 | Is sinless perfection possible on earth? | 1 John 1:8 | lionheart | 228756
EdB, This has been one of the longest threads I've encountered in quite some time. You have stated things simply and quite accurately. I believe 1 John addresses this subject quite well. Thank you for this. In Him, lionheart |

1633 | Can we determine thr truth of the matter | 1 John 1:8 | lionheart | 228766
Doc, You've expressed here what I think allot of us overlook. A question I come up with where scripture is concerned, are there any reasons to be reading between the lines? Considering the nature and character of God I wouldn't think so. In Him, lionheart |

1634 | Heb.10:26 | 1 John 1:9 | lionheart | 193832
bream925, Welcome to the forum. You pose a valid question and I pose that with this question, Is there unwillful sin. Go back and read Hebrews 10:26 again and read the context in which it was written. We can repent and must. Often when we talk about willful sin as is in Hebrews 10:26 it can be within the context of one who chooses to stay in thier sin. John mentions in 1 John those who practice sin. We sin everyday. It is in repentance and striving to obey God and His Word and making him the primary focus of our life that we will live the life God has called us to. If a person choose to stay in thier sin they place themselves in jeopardy. In Him, lionheart |

1635 | disconnect from friends and family | 1 John 1:9 | lionheart | 197604
nae-nae 04, What Mark 9:43-45 is showing here is what our attitude twards our sin should be. How do you deal with your sin? It's easy to place blame on others. But you gotta ask yourself where does it start? Look at James 1:15-13 Usually when we are talking about our sin and the things that may influence it, It starts with us. In Him, lionheart |
||||||
1636 | Are we judged when we come to Jesus now? | 1 John 1:9 | lionheart | 201993
LJ777, Read I John 1:9 and John 8:31,32 I think they will help you. I don't know about being judged when we go to God but there are consequences when we do sin but God does and will forgive us. It's a matter of us going to God with repentant hearts. Take a look at Isaiah 59:1,2 and then look at Hebrews 12:5-13 where it refers to Gods discipline in our life I think this will help you. In Him, lionheart |
||||||
1637 | Are we judged when we come to Jesus now? | 1 John 1:9 | lionheart | 202066
LJ777, Right off the get go let me say this, You will sin, I will sin, all of us will sin. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ does not mean that we're not gonna sin. It's what will be one's attitude of heart be in dealing with our sin. 2 Corinthians 7:8-11, give this passage of scripture your undivided attention. Are we sorry or are we SORRY. There's a huge difference. Take a good look at 1 Timothy 4:15,16 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16,17. It's not always a matter of what does a disciple(Christian) look like. We don't look around out there and say there's a disciple or here's a disciple. It's just not as simple as that. But! It's not impossible though. These passages in 1 and 2 Timothy are bench marks in every disciples life. These are the hows. At the end of the day it's you and God that know for sure if you are a disciple or not. You are who you are regardless of what others may dictate. Get into your bible and study out discipleship. Hebrews 4:12,13 God's Word is sharp, it will cut, allow it to cut. It can be painful but God will and does bring healing and forgiveness. If you have doubts as to whether your a disciple or not Then again get into the Word,get with believers who are strong in the faith and have them study these things out with you. You don't have to do this alone. There is help. Colossians 1:27 It's Christ in you! Powerful stuff. What you live will be evident. Give this due consideration, I am more than blessed to walk through it with you. PS. Go to my user profile. Drop me a line. I wont be hard to find. In Him, lionheart |

1638 | abide | 1 John 2:3 | lionheart | 216911
Asis, Matt 5:17Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets;I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. Nothing in the Gospels suggests that Jesus annulled any thing in the OT, but He did fulfill the law. Case in point, His substitutionary death on the cross. In Him, lionheart |
