383 | Cremation after death? Go to heaven? | Ezek 37:4 | justme | 228384
Doc: I have had a hard time dealing with the subject of cremation. I believe cremation is a rather sad thing to read about in the news paper. In our community when a person is cremated, it reads that such a person died on the date and place. Then it say no services are planned at this time becaues at the persons request a service will be held later. Ofter just a private for the spreading of the ashes and that's it. No record for future family to make, or way of fimding what happened to the ashes. It is almost as if the persons life just ended and that's it. A memorial service with a casket or urn really helps with natural grief for those who knew the deceased. Even with those deceased who have no one to contact, and are basicly paupers have a clergy to say a prayer before being burried in places where I have been. I think it's important to at give recognition to God who gives all persons life. We have had family members choose cremation. There was no memorial service for several months. This was like the person just stopped existing. This left an empty feeling and a deeper feeling of loss. Again this is just what I have observed, and personally felt. Blessings Doc. justme |

384 | Obesity? | 1 Cor 6:19 | justme | 228340
Biblicalman: I have reread my two posts. I made too much about the feelings of some hurting believers I am dealing with now. You are certainly correct in what you have said. I have seem one person who overcame smoking and being overweight. Now that person sees no reason for anyone to be obese or for anyone to smoke. This person now has become so obnoxious. The true test is that of how long a person can stay an overcomer. I sincerely see I was a real pain, and I regret being so harsh. Please accept my sincere apology. Blessings |

385 | Obesity? | 1 Cor 6:19 | justme | 228326
Biblicalman: I think this type of judgement leads to legalism. How many square feet of house is geting greedy? Is 1200 sq ft to large for two people? How many pair of shoes should one person have, and not be considered greedy? Should a person trade in their vehicle every two or three years, or drive it beyone 200,000 miles? Is eating out at Wendy's better than eating at a fancy stake house with special guests? What should a Pastor get paid, at the low wage or the avrage church members wage, or higher than the higest? How many Scripture verses can I read and still feel it's enough? Most people in the world don't have a car, two pair of shoes, a house with a tolet, money in their pocket, food that will last beyond the next day, and a Bible of their own. When we make judgements that cast a doubt on a fellow brother or sister that we are stepping in where the Holy Spirit works. Let's work at encouraging each other to grow in the Lord and let the Lord work on areas that are sensitive and may cause a person to become so hurt, and they drop out. I am not talking about sin that needs to be confronted. Often those who have overcome a problem want others who have the same problem to overcome the problem as they did. Shame is used to show off how great a victory they have won. Smoking, weight loss seem to be the ones that are the sins we notice first. Maybe removing the log in our eye first is best followed first. Blessings. justme |

386 | age of Issac during sacrifice | OT general | justme | 228253
dnqualls: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. Just this last week this very subject was brought us on NRB tv. I do not recall who said this but they felt Issac was about 30 years old. Never before had I considered that age for Issac. Somehow I remember as a child all the Flannel Graphs showed Issac as a yound boy, not a man. The Flannel Graph sure shows my age, right? Blessings. justme |

389 | Are tatoos allowed? | Lev 19:28 | justme | 228249
Beja: I had a very close older mentor, who was retired from the United States Navy. He surrendered to Christ at the Pacific Garden Mission located in Chicago IL. while on leave before his retirement from the Navy around 35 yrs old. Soon after he and his wife felt Gods call into the ministry and he studied at Moody Bible College. He also worked as a minister at the Pacific Garden Misson while in Bible College. Before he attended Moody B.C. he felt so ashamed of the naked lady on his right arm, he took a razor blade and attempted to scrape the tattoo off his arm. From that point on he wore long slieve shirts for the rest of his life. He showed me the mess on his arm, and I was able to see the deep wounds and still the outline of a female figure. Les Gentry was this dear friend and mentor to me for nearly 30 years. Les encouraged me and my wife while in college, seminary, and in full time ministry. Les and his wife are with the Lord now. Les encouraged an innumerable pastors and missionaries. The point is he was ashamed of his "mess on my arm" all his life after surrendering to Christ. I do not believe a tattoo is wise at anytime. For me, I believe it is a sin, and I do not put aside the Old Testament instruction about marking the body. However if anyone is so head strong and determined to be branded (tattooed) then let it be for a witness to their faith in Christ. Justme |

390 | Are tatoos allowed? | Lev 19:28 | justme | 228241
Magie: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. It is few and far between that someone give any thought to the User info. especia;;y on the first post! Thank you! The others have given you the Old Testament verse about Tatoos, so no need to repeat that. However with you experiences in college I am sure you too have seen that many men and women are tatooing their bodies in every place a tatoo can be put. Today in our culture perhaps more than fifty percent of the people under fourty have a tatoo. I can remember a time when anyone with a tatoo was considered a rebel, and the tatoos reflected that rebelious spirit, with vulgare tatoos. I think unless a tatoo can refect that we are Christians, a tatoo is unwise. We are bought with a price, the Blood of Jesus. If we are bought by Christ than we are His ans any mark on us should reflect we belong to Jesus. This gives anyone reading this something to think about, hey? justme |

391 | wife left doing drugs adultery help | Matt 19:9 | justme | 227892
hwytech: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. The Book of Hosea has some of the same issues you are experiencing. I encourage you to take your time reading Hosea. The picture of Hosea's wayward wife is heart gripping. The experience of Hosea is a true picture of Jesus Christ and how He redeemed you and I. The sacrifice Christ Jesus paid to redeem us is unmeasurable. Ephesians 5:25-33 is where husbands are told how to love their wife. These verses are very difficult to follow, especially under circumstances you and your wife are in. 1Peter 3:4 is a verse that is written mainly for wives, but dear brother it works for all brethern be they be male or female. Under such trying situation that your family is in it would be natural to be angry, resentful. Most anyone in your situation would naturally want to be loud, mean, resentful and out of control. But 1 Peter 3:4 instructs us to be gentle and have a quiet spirit. This is opposite of what seems the natural way to behave. No where in Scripture does it say you have to get a divorce. By what you have said there seems to have been several problems in your home leading up to your wife and daughter leaving you. As the spiritual leader of your home why was your daughter allowed to have a boy friend living with her in your house? I am not saying this to provoke you, but to show a point that was clearly wrong to be allowed. So it seems things were out of control in your home. I am sure this is just the tip of the iceburg. You need to share this situation with your pastor. I encourage you to put divorce out of your mind. Divorce even when there is adultery, unless your wife remarries there is room for God to restore your marriage. I believe there is no greater witness for Christ then a restored marriage. Restoration begins when you are able to see where you failed as well as your wife. It is never, never the fault of just one person in a marriage. Unless you do all you can to restore and redeem your wife, you are at fault as well. Sounds harsh, but when we Covenant with God that we will love and cherish for better or worse until death parts us, that is a very serious promise to God and your wife. Right now it is the worst, God knows what you feel and the heartache you are in. Trust God to work in your life and hers. Put your shame, hurt, and anger in the hands of Jesus. This will take time, it is not an easy road to take. Satan will test you to dump our wife and more on. But you will carry the hurt, and anger right into the next relationship. You need Jesus to heal you and your wife and daughter, it can happen. Please get help either from your pastor or a Christian counselor. I will be remembering you in prayer, blessings. justme |

392 | Lawful marriage certificate | Rom 13:1 | justme | 227759
yellowrose61: Welcome to the Study Bible Forum. I can state with assurance having been a pastor in Kansas, and marring several couples, that there is no such "legal' marriage without a Kansas Marriage license. I have been told there is no such thing as a Common Law marriage any where in the United States any longer. There is no wiggle-room left for this couple. They can say as many vows to each other as they want, but it amounts to a hill of beans sa far as any legal marriage goes. Sorry to tell you this. justme |

legsrandall: The JW's are a cult. They believe Jesus is a brother to Satan, and reject Jesus as the only way to salvation. The JW's are trained in very direct answeres ind have text of the Bible that is twisted to make their beliefs fit their purposes. The New World Translation is a corrupted text and leads people away from Jesus . Unless you are firmly established in your Christiab faith leave the JW's alone. justme |
