22 | How much submitting must a woman do? | 1 Corinthians | janet | 11667
Norrie, abuse can be an addiction. In some cases, the abusive person is actuallly addicted to that violent kind of behavior, whether it is physical or mental. Like an alcoholic, or a person addicted to pornography, the person strongly desires the behavior. If a person is addicted to abusive behavior they, of course, need help to break the addiction. Jesus is the answer for any addiction...He knows. Prayer is very powerful. Put it in God's hands and watch Him work. In the meantime, you may want to ask yourself, if your paticular circumstances are enabling your husband to feed on his addiction. If your loved one was an alcoholic and he wanted a drink, would you give it to them? If they were a heroine addict, would you provide the heroine and needle? The more they get fed their addiction the stronger and more fierce the addiction grows, and this is the case in all addictions. I do not know exactly what your circumstances are, but if you or especially your children are in danger, you need to remove yourself from harms way. If your husband is becoming or is addicted to abusive behavior, you may be enabling him to grow in his addiction by being present. Norrie, my prayers are with you. This is one of Satan's most powerful weapons to destroy families, because he uses love and guilt as additional weapons against you. There are many good Christian sources that can help you, search them out and most especially, pray and listen for God's guidance for you and your family. He loves you.
23 | death, being with Jesus -verse? | 2 Corinthians | janet | 42057
This is for Hopeful and Angel, re 2 Cor 5:8.I love the way God intertwines the lives of His children to help them learn and to help confirm what they have learned. This question was asked to me by my Mom just a couple of weeks ago. She had been taught the spirit sleeps in the body until Christ's second coming. I told her that I believed we went to be with Christ. Then, like a coincidence (if that is what you like to call it), our pastor happened to mention Sunday the same thing Angel 1 said...we go to be with our Lord the instant we die and then are returned to our glorified bodies when He returns. Also, Luke 8:55 states "Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up." This is the section in which Jesus brings the little girl back to life. To me, if the little girl's spirit returned it must have left, not gone to sleep or wouldn't the scripture have stated something like, "He awoke her"? It is also interesting that Luke, the physician, wrote this, a doctor, who, history tells, was a stickler for details. God bless both of you, I know we will meet someday in heaven. |

24 | verse mean death now or at 2nd coming | 2 Cor 5:8 | janet | 42061
Hopeful, I hope you get my "note". I apologize, somehow I ended up doing a note rather than an answer and just realized it. The main thing I wanted to tell you is I agree with Angel1, and believe scripture clearly states that. Luke 11:55 states, "Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up." This was when Jesus brought the little girl back to life. If her spirit returned, then it did not go to sleep or wouldn't scripture have stated something like, "He awoke her," Also, it is interesting to note that Luke wrote this, Luke was a physician, and biographies state that Luke was a stickler to detail. If the little girls spirit left the body then it must have gone somewhere and as Angel1 pointed out scripture states if we are not in the body then we are with the Lord. God bless you.
