201 | Accountable for every commandment? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 66450
Greetings Charis, In Eph 2:8 we are told, FOR BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH; AND THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES: IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD. Gal 3:2-RECEIVED YE THE SPIRIT BY THE WORKS OF THE LAW, OR BY THE HEARING OF FAITH? Gal 3:14-THAT THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM MIGHT COME ON THE GENTILES THROUGH JESUS CHRIST; THAT WE MIGHT RECEIVE THE PROMISE OF THE SPIRIT THROUGH FAITH. Eph 3:17-THAT CHRIST MAY DWELL IN YOUR HEARTS BY FAITH. We are saved by faith. Does this mean we are saved by faith without repentance? Not at all. We must repent of our sins, or there is no salvation. For it is written, EXCEPT YE REPENT, YE SHALL ALL LIKEWISE PERISH-Lk 13:3. Does this mean that we are saved by faith only, and we never need to confess Jesus publicly? Not at all. We should confess that Jesus is (the only Hope) of our salvation to everyone that asks us. If we are ashamed of Jesus, He will be ashamed of us at the judgment. So we may ask, "What about baptism?" I believe when a person is lead to the Lord, that baptism be included, not excluded. And if it's not possible to be baptized at that time, then at the earliest time avaiable. God bless, may you continue to be an extention of God's hand to the people in the land you live in. |

Greetings Charis, We have already seen that believing on Jesus is an absolute essential for salvation. We have already seen that repentance is an absolute essential for salvation. Now the question, "What about water baptism?" There is much debate on this subject. One of the main subjects to be considered in this discussion is that salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ "apart from all works." This statement is absolutely true. It is written, Eph 2:8,9-FOR BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH; AND THAT NOT OF YOURSELVES: IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD: NOT OF WORKS, LEST ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST. Now the questions arise: "Is calling on the name of the Lord classified as works?" "Is repentance classified as works?" "Is water baptism classified as works?" The answer to all three of these questions is no. No where in the Bible is calling on Jesus, repentance, water baptism, or reading the Bible classified as a form of works. Those that relate these things to works or the works of the Law appear to be greatly misled. One might say that repentance can certainly be very hard work, or very difficult. There are certain things or areas in each of our lives where the flesh does not want to repent, but never does the Bible classify repentance as works. It is the same for baptism. Water baptism is a command for all that repent and believe. It is not classified as "works." Hearing or reading the Bible might be considered as work or a chore by some, yet it is never classified as "works" in relation to working or earning your way into heaven. We need to hear and read God’s Word to learn more about God. Faith comes by hearing God’s Word. Thank you for your response, I have enjoyed your postings. God bless! |

Eph 1:11, In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will. As you can see, you were not born on earth with no choice, God planned you. He created you to be a member of His family, but each one of us has gone our way. Isaiah 53 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. God loves you my friend, so much so that He sent His only Son to redeem you. John 3:16. God is not against you, read Jeremiah 29:11-13. The questions you are asking, are the same ones that I had asked also, you see we are all seeking the answer to why we are here on earth. God answered us in His written Word, the Bible. Give your life to God today, repent of your sins, through His Son Jesus, ask Him to be the Lord and Savior of your life. He will come into your life, and change that name, CONFUSING, and give you a name with meaning, and put it in the Book of Life! God bless |

Why Does God Let Innocent People Suffer? This is the most frequently asked question concerning God. If God is loving, why do evil people flourish and innocent people perish? Why does God not step in to help, deliver, and save? Millions of people died in World War II. Many innocent people are still dying all around the world today in war and in peace. Babies are born impaired. Children become crippled. Adults become paralyzed. Old people become invalids. There is senseless killing, lying, cheating, stealing, and robbing between and within nations and ethnic groups, in "bad neighborhoods" and "good neighborhoods," and in families. Who are the victims? Mostly the innocent - the children, the aged, and the nice people. Where is God? Is He not a loving God? Did He not create man? Why does He not help? Why does He let it happen? Isn't He in control? We need to go back to the beginning to see why things are the way they are and if there is a solution to this problem that all humanity faces. The Battle of Two Kingdoms The Bible tells us that before man was created, Lucifer, the archangel who was the ruler over the earth, had rebelled against God and become God's enemy, Satan. The earth had become the kingdom of Satan. Then there was a struggle between the two kingdoms - God's and Satan's. Man is to Express God and Rule for God Man was made by God in His image to express God and rule for God. To express God is to love as God loves, be righteous as God is righteous, and so on. God has many divine attributes, and man was created with the corresponding human virtues. Man is supposed to live a life that expresses God's divine attributes through his human virtues. To rule for God is to be God's deputy authority, king of the earth, to overthrow and replace Satan and to bring in God's kingdom of love and righteousness. Man was created perfectly. He would not get sick or die. God provided everything that man would need to live, to express God, and to rule for God. For man's physical existence, God gave man air, water, food, and sunshine. To make the environment pleasant for man, God made trees, flowers, and grass. To make the earth a lively place, God made the animals. For man to fulfill his function - expressing God and ruling for God - God made a spirit within man and set man before the tree of life. The tree of life signifies God becoming life to man. If man would take God into his spirit by eating the tree of life, man would have God as life and be able to express God and to rule for God. The Greatest Tragedy of the Universe Although God's intention would have been fulfilled if man ate from the tree of life, God still allowed man to choose between Him and Satan - signified by the tree of knowledge. Satan came in disguise, in trickery, and deceived man by making the tree of knowledge seem very pleasant. Man chose the tree of knowledge. Instead of God's life, man received the satanic life into himself, resulting in sin, evil, and death. The satanic life has been growing in man for the last six thousand years. Because man took in Satan's life, man is under the control of the satanic nature inwardly as well as the authority of Satan outwardly. The Bible calls Satan "the god of this age." Man is blinded by him. Man is lying in the hand of this evil one and is unconscious of what the evil one is doing to and in him. Satan's desire is to ruin and kill man. The real and living God created man, but the god of this age got into man. The universal tragedy is that the very man who was to be king living in God's kingdom has become a slave dying in Satan's kingdom. Satan is destroying the man God created, so that the condition today is not God's original intention. continued----------- |

Pt. 2 (con't) God's Way of Saving Man from Suffering God loved man and still wanted to save man from suffering back to Himself. However, even He had to acknowledge the authority which had been set up. It would have been unrighteous for God to remove this deputy authority without the proper procedure. Also, without the preparation of a proper replacement, there would be a big chaos. With this in view, He took some definite steps to bring about the defeat of Satan and to bring in His own kingdom. First, He came to earth as a man named Jesus Christ 2000 years ago. He as a man set up a pattern for us, showing us how man may love one another and be righteous by God's life. Although He acknowledged the authority of Satan over the earth and was subject to his ruling outwardly, He did not succumb to Satan's temptations. He was the one-man kingdom of God. Satan had nothing in Him. Jesus did not have the satanic nature; therefore He was inwardly free from the tyranny of Satan. Yet He did not as a single man take back the earth. This job requires many of us to join Him. For this He died to pay a ransom for all mankind in order to redeem them from God's righteous judgment of sin and resurrected to be man's life. Now the way has been reopened for man to take God in as life and express and rule for God, to become just like Him and together to defeat His enemy and bring in His kingdom. All this happened 2000 years ago, yet most people have not heard about or received this good news. The world is still in chaos because so many are under Satan's deception and control to resist God and live by the sinful nature. The Way to Stop All Suffering If you want to get out of this chaos, and save the world from Satan's kingdom, you need to save yourself first by receiving God into you through calling on His name. Then He will start the process of salvation inside of you. At the same time, you need to spread the good news abroad to your acquaintances. When enough people on earth are filled up with the God of love and righteousness, the kingdom of God will be brought in. People will be living in peace, loving one another. There will be no more robbing nor senseless killing. All forms of evil will be removed from the earth. Would you like to see this in your lifetime? What should you do? You may turn from Satan's kingdom of darkness to God's kingdom of light, from Satan's authority of death to God's authority of life. Say to God, "Lord Jesus, come into me. Deliver me from Satan's kingdom into Your kingdom. Forgive me of all that I did under the tyranny of Satan. Save me now." You will become a part of what God is doing in man to end all the suffering in the world and to bring His kingdom to the earth. I pray this information has inspired you. God bless. |

confusing, The Word of God says in 1 Corinthians 1:18; "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." (KJV) This tells me that no matter how or what I thought of God before I was saved, was of no value. Whether it was the Old Testament of Law or the New Testament of grace, God has spoken. That in itself is an astounding and humbling reality. God was not obligated to speak. He was not our debtor. Man surely did not deserve a word from heaven. After all, we were sinful, disobedient, and at enmity with God. The Old Testament, God speaks of "My people perish for lack of knowledge," you my friend need to know God, so you can understand the wisdom of God. Don't delay, it's up to you. Nothing more has to be said. God bless |

210 | Is the request of Christ Granted? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 70620
Johnny, Jesus condemned him. Jesus, who fulfilled the role of Prophet, as well as Priest, King, and Savior, was the herald of God, pronouncing curses and blessings as the Old Testament prophets did. He would say, "Blessed are..." for the Beatitudes and later curse the Impenitent Cities saying, "Woe to..." (see Matt. 5:3-11; 11:20-24; and Luke 6:20-26.) He answered them and said, "He who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betray Me. The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had not been born." Then Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, "Rabbi, is it I?" He said to him, "You have said it."- Matt. 26:23-25 Would God say, "It would have been good...if he had not been born," about one who would be destined for heaven? Certainly not! Jesus didn't acknowledge him to God. The events that happened at Gethsemane offer a prime example of God's honor; He lives up to His Word. Matt. 10:32, 33 - Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Judas not only denied Jesus by refusing His authority as a Rabbi and attempting to rob His liberty (both by the act of betrayal), he rejected Christ's deity. In turn Jesus rejected Judas in His prayers to His Father, calling him the son of perdition, which means damnation. John 17:12 - Those whom you gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. Judas was condemned. His repentance was not true to God; he denied the Lord Jesus Christ; he hung himself and fulfilled Scriptural prophecy. The LORD has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom. Proverbs 16:4 |

"How can anyone assert hell is empty?" one may ask. Scripture is full of declarations that people who commit particular sins will not go to heaven (e.g., I Cor. 6:9-10). Since some people unquestionably practice the sins mentioned until their dying day, how could hell be empty? Most fundamentally, the idea that we may hope that hell is empty is against the teaching of Scripture. Even if one were to write off all of Scripture's warnings about hell as purely hypothetical, Scripture directly asserts that many will not be saved. In Luke's Gospel, Jesus is asked, "Lord, will those who are saved be few?" He replies by stating, "Strive to enter by the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able" (Luke 13:23-24). Given the question that prompts it, Jesus' answer cannot be interpreted to mean anything other than that many will not be saved. There is nothing conditional about the question or Jesus' answer. He does not say, "If someone does this then he will be damned" or "Anyone who does this will be damned." He says that there are many who fail to enter—and the context is salvation. The same is indicated elsewhere in the Gospels, such as when Jesus tells us that on the last day "many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers'" (Matt. 7:22-23). Again, none of this is hypothetical. Jesus says "many will" be cast away from him. Finally, although the Church does not teach that any particular individual is in hell, "I believe that Scripture indicates that Judas Iscariot is in hell". (I acknowledge that other orthodox commentators may disagree on this point.) Jesus says, "The Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had .not been born" (Matt. 26:24). If Judas ended up in heaven rather than hell, it would be difficult to see how it would have been better for him not to have been born. Going through any amount of temporal pain and disgrace is not worth comparing to the joys of heaven (Rom, 8:18), and, if Judas went to heaven, matters still came out infinitely to his benefit. Only if Judas went to hell, it seems to me, would it have been better for him not to have been born. While most Christians know the goodness of God when they became Christians, the later discovery of the severity of God can come as a shock. God bless |

213 | When or should we avoid unbelievers? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 71201
dat, It is good to mix with unbelievers to love and convert them. If you can convert them, then you can happily yoke together. We should sometimes revisit people even if they don't believe at first, as conversion can take time. Back in the time of Christ the tax collectors or publicans were considered evil and part of the world. Jesus indicated they were sick and needed converting. The disciples who were tax collectors gave their professions away to do God's work. Matthew 9: 9 And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him. 10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? 12 But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. 13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. It must have been widely known that it was wrong to work for a corrupt system in Jesus' time. The Pharisees must have thought that it was so bad to be a tax collector that they had no hope of salvation, and that Jesus should stay away from them as if they had no hope of being saved. Tax collectors were still needed as God said to pay taxes but it seemed that it was not for Christians to become tax collectors. Jesus did the right thing by loving and mixing with sinners and tax collectors for the purpose of converting them. But he did not yoke, work and stay with the same people if they did not believe. Jesus and the Apostles moved on if people did not believe, and met other people, trying to convert them. However, the false church of today is wrongfully encouraging people to live or work with the same unbelievers and work with and for a corrupt system, which is now far worse than it was in the time of the Pharisees. Many of the so-called Christians today could be seen by Jesus as being much sicker than the tax collectors. |

Is Jesus God? The Historical Dispute Is Jesus God? The answer to this question is the only real dispute surrounding the historical Jesus. No legitimate scholar today denies that Jesus is a historic figure that walked on this earth about 2,000 years ago, that he did remarkable wonders and acts of charity, and that He died a horrible death on a Roman cross just outside Jerusalem. The emotionally-charged dispute focuses specifically on whether Jesus was God incarnate who rose from the dead three days after His Crucifixion. Is Jesus God? The Only Alternatives Is Jesus God? Many people have dealt with this "spiritual" dispute by intellectually accepting Jesus as a great man, great teacher, or great prophet. However, Jesus didn't mince words, He declared Himself God (John 10:30, John 14:6). Therefore, any type of intellectual compromise calling Jesus a "good man" is logically inconsistent. Why? Because there are really only three legitimate alternatives for the identity of Jesus Christ. He is either a liar, a lunatic or our Lord and God. Since Jesus claimed to be God, His claims are either true or false. If false, He must have been a liar, deliberately misleading the multitudes. Or, He was a lunatic, sincerely believing Himself to be God, when in reality He was just a man. However, if Jesus was a "good man," as most people now agree, how then could He be both good and crazy, or good and a liar? There is only one logically consistent alternative - He must have been telling the truth. In addition to the logical inconsistency, the remarkable historical, archaeological and manuscript evidence shows that Jesus was neither a liar nor a lunatic. Again, the only position left is that His claim is true. Jesus is Lord and God. Is Jesus God? The Only Answer Is Jesus God? Once you have asked all your questions, weighed all the evidence, and tested all the arguments, you will ultimately be confronted with this question. In Mathew 16:15, Jesus put it this way, 'But who do you say that I am?' One of His disciples, Simon Peter, replied: 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' What is your reply? |

Damascus, here are but a few; Luke 2:40 And the little child [Jesus] grew and became strong, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him. Col. 2:3 In whom [Christ] all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden. Psalms 1:1-2 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. Psalms 119:32 I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free. Psalms 119:9-11 How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Ecclesiastes 12:13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. John 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. The Bible is all this and more. This is why the wise person sets himself to knowing and obeying God's word. Jesus said: If you love me, you will obey what I command. John 14:15 God bless |

216 | What do you think of this great mystery? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 79575
Hi Ray! He that is joined to the Lord is one spirit (1 Cor. 6: 17). We are united to Christ. And oh, what a revelation it gives us of the nearness and the intimacy into which we are brought with Him! For we are made to know that we are one with Himself, that whatever touches us touches Him (see Acts 9: 4); and therefore that we are inseparably, indissolubly, connected with Himself forever. The same bond, then, that unites us to Christ, unites us also to all believers; for the same Spirit that unites us to Christ has united us also one to another. This is what is meant by "the unity of the Spirit" (Eph. 4: 3); i.e., the unity of all the members of Christ which has been formed on the earth by the Spirit of God. 1 Cor. 12, you will see the wonderful character of our mutual relationships, arising out of our being members one of another. You can read the passage from the 12th to the 27th verse, at your leisure; it is carefully insisted upon that "the body is not one member, but many"; and that every member has its own place in the body. Just some thoughts.... God Bless |

220 | # of Apostles? 12 and Paul? or more? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 83369
JodiCF "Surely everyone will agree that there were 12 original apostles. They are mentioned by name in several places including Acts, the first chapter. Because one of those apostles, Judas Iscariot, betrayed Christ and later hanged himself (Matt. 27:5), it became necessary to select a replacement. The Acts account states that Matthias was the one selected by God (Acts 1:26) to replace Judas. The list of named apostles of Christ now totaled 13 in the New Testament. "In the 12th chapter of Acts, we learn that James, the son of Zebedee, one of the original apostles, was killed by King Herod (verse 2). There was another James among the original 12, the son of Alphaeus, who apparently is not mentioned after Acts 1:13. "Continuing in the 12th chapter of Acts, we learn from verse 17 that after James was killed, another James remained." "Who this other James was is explained in Galatians 1:19, 'But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.' This James, who was a half brother of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, is in this place called an apostle. This brings the number to 14 named apostles." "The next apostles' names in Acts are mentioned in chapter 14." "Who were these apostles? The previous chapter (13), verse 50, identifies them as Paul and Barnabas. This now brings our total to 16 named apostles. Lest there be any question about Paul and Barnabas, notice also Acts 14:14." God bless |
