321 | Is God's will prosperity/healing always? | Rom 8:28 | inmyheart | 67663
EdB, Greetings, thanks for responding, but I'm not going to buy into your name calling. You have already stated how feel about the doctrine you believe in, so there is no value to continue. Instead of me rethinking what I've been taught, why don't you re-read the terms of use on this forum. God bless |

joe Your account of Epaphroditus was in err, therefore your assumption of his sickness was not accurate. You stated: "Epaphroditus recovered from his sickness which almost led to death. Did he not know to name it and claim it before it got that bad? Maybe Paul didn;t instruct him in the faith well enough (Philippians 2:25-27)." However, if you would have read Phil. 2:25-27 just a little further to verse 30, your conclusion would have been different. Please take into account the following; Sick nigh unto death. "For indeed he was sick nigh unto death. . ." (Philippians 2:27). Paul here refers to a Christian named Epaphroditus. Some "scholars" of the Bible read verses 25-27 and then teach "See, see! Paul left somebody sick. He failed to heal somebody." The implication is that it is not God's will to heal everyone, and therefore if you pray for healing, do not be too expectant since it may not be God's will to heal you. Just because someone was sick does not mean you have to be. Epaphroditus was not the "Word made flesh." If those "scholars" had read just a few verses down, they would have seen the reason for Epaphroditus' sickness: Verse 30 says, "Because of the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me." Epaphroditus overworked! See those words "not regarding his life"? Epaphroditus made a choice to continue to work when he should have stopped. There were not many people helping Paul at this time so Epaphroditus pushed himself to "supply your lack of service" (or, "take up the slack," "make up the difference"). Epaphroditus pushed himself too far – that is all there is to it. If he had rested and then got back to work, he would have stayed well. He did not even have to over work – he made that decision himself. |

Jesified, I was blessed by your post! God bless you as you proclaim His Living Word. 1 Corinthians 2 1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: 5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Great post and great screen name. |

327 | Mercy can only go so far... right? | Eph 5:5 | inmyheart | 67537
malspa, The Bible is also one of the most given away book in America! What is your view of that person who steals a Bible, or anything for that matter, and finally comes to their senses, and repents? "The problem is; Our God is a Merciful God, but can God be pushed too far? Do you think this is the problem?" God has spoken with finality through His Son. It's a completed and perfect message (gospel). Nothing has to be added and nothing has to be changed. It simply has to be understood and obeyed. We live under His Grace and Mercy, and that will soon come to an end. You seem to have a great passion for our Lord, and this issue (stealing) affects you. You may even had a breakthough in this area. However, pray for people who struggle in this area of their life. May God continue to bless you as He fulfills your purpose and leads you to your destiny. |

328 | What are the qualification for an elder | Titus 1:5 | inmyheart | 67534
Jr. Deacon Theo, here is some info that you requested. God Bless. The elder is a leader in the Christian church. It is a divinely appointed office that is held by men who are able to teach sound doctrine, refute error, be of good reputation, having believing children, who manage their households well, etc. The elder should not be in office if he is unable to fulfill the requirements of the office and he should not be chosen because he is a popular figure in the local church. Being an elder is a high calling and there are thousands of very godly men in many churches and who seek God and serve Him as best as they can. But, it is also true that many should not be elders who are in that position. Women, should not be elder's. Men with unbelieving children living with them should not be elders. And, elders should be able to teach correct doctrine and refute error. Sadly, many elders cannot do this. Qualifications for an elder: Must be above reproach (Titus 1:6; 1 Tim. 3:2) Husband of one wife (Titus 1:6; 1 Tim. 3:2). Household must be in order with children who believe (Titus 1:6 ;1 Tim. 3:4). Not a new convert (1 Tim. 3:6). Self controlled and temperate (Titus 1:7; 1 Tim. 3:2). Honorable, hospitable, seeking good (Titus 1:7). Have a good reputation (1 Tim. 3:7). Not addicted to wine (1 Tim. 3:3). Not greedy (1 Tim. 3:3). Able to exhort (teach) sound doctrine (Titus 1:9; 1 Tim. 3:2). Able to refute false teaching (Titus 1:9). They must be ready to earn their own living if necessary (Acts 20:17, 33-35). |

329 | What is Paul's "thorn in the flesh?' | 2 Cor 12:7 | inmyheart | 67521
Blessed One 1, Paul's thorn. "...There was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me…" (2 Corinthians 12:7). This verse is frequently used by ministers to prove that sickness can be the will of God, and that Paul was sick. First of all, even if Paul was sick, it is no proof that it was the will of God. David committed murder and adultery – was that the will of God? Judas betrayed Jesus – was that a moral act? Just because someone in the Bible did something does not automatically make it right. Even Satan is in the Bible. You have to read the implied principles from the experiences of biblical character as well as the directly stated principles in the Bible. Nevertheless, Paul was really a solid proof of the supernatural healing power of God – even in his experience. Many Christians have been deceived in this area. Notice Paul says he had "a thorn in the flesh." The words "scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes" in Joshua 23:13 are used to describe people; the words "thorns in your sides" in Judges 2:3 are also used the same way. Since when did it become a sickness? Paul was simply using an expression commonly used in those days. When you say, "Tom is a pain in the neck," you are talking about a person that bothers or annoys you, not a sickness. To further confirm that, Paul says the thorn was "a messenger of Satan." This tells us it was a person or demon, and that he was from Satan, not God. What Paul experienced was most likely persecution from people (inspired by Satan). Most of them followed Paul around to preach circumcision to the people right after Paul leaves a city. Some even reacted to Paul's preaching with physical violence. This is why the evil spirit or "messenger" was a "thorn in the flesh," or a "pain in the neck." You need to know the truth about the biblical passages that have been used to preach sickness. Many times those passages are some of the greatest proofs for healing. Some of them prove neither healing or sickness – just the need for wisdom. For example, if the Bible says that someone accidentally fell off a building and died, does that prove sickness, or that it is not God's will to heal and protect? No, it proves the need for wisdom and caution. By the way, this happened and Paul resurrected the dead man by the power of God (Acts 20:9-12). God bless as you study God's Word! |

confusing, The Word of God says in 1 Corinthians 1:18; "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." (KJV) This tells me that no matter how or what I thought of God before I was saved, was of no value. Whether it was the Old Testament of Law or the New Testament of grace, God has spoken. That in itself is an astounding and humbling reality. God was not obligated to speak. He was not our debtor. Man surely did not deserve a word from heaven. After all, we were sinful, disobedient, and at enmity with God. The Old Testament, God speaks of "My people perish for lack of knowledge," you my friend need to know God, so you can understand the wisdom of God. Don't delay, it's up to you. Nothing more has to be said. God bless |

Pt. 2 (con't) God's Way of Saving Man from Suffering God loved man and still wanted to save man from suffering back to Himself. However, even He had to acknowledge the authority which had been set up. It would have been unrighteous for God to remove this deputy authority without the proper procedure. Also, without the preparation of a proper replacement, there would be a big chaos. With this in view, He took some definite steps to bring about the defeat of Satan and to bring in His own kingdom. First, He came to earth as a man named Jesus Christ 2000 years ago. He as a man set up a pattern for us, showing us how man may love one another and be righteous by God's life. Although He acknowledged the authority of Satan over the earth and was subject to his ruling outwardly, He did not succumb to Satan's temptations. He was the one-man kingdom of God. Satan had nothing in Him. Jesus did not have the satanic nature; therefore He was inwardly free from the tyranny of Satan. Yet He did not as a single man take back the earth. This job requires many of us to join Him. For this He died to pay a ransom for all mankind in order to redeem them from God's righteous judgment of sin and resurrected to be man's life. Now the way has been reopened for man to take God in as life and express and rule for God, to become just like Him and together to defeat His enemy and bring in His kingdom. All this happened 2000 years ago, yet most people have not heard about or received this good news. The world is still in chaos because so many are under Satan's deception and control to resist God and live by the sinful nature. The Way to Stop All Suffering If you want to get out of this chaos, and save the world from Satan's kingdom, you need to save yourself first by receiving God into you through calling on His name. Then He will start the process of salvation inside of you. At the same time, you need to spread the good news abroad to your acquaintances. When enough people on earth are filled up with the God of love and righteousness, the kingdom of God will be brought in. People will be living in peace, loving one another. There will be no more robbing nor senseless killing. All forms of evil will be removed from the earth. Would you like to see this in your lifetime? What should you do? You may turn from Satan's kingdom of darkness to God's kingdom of light, from Satan's authority of death to God's authority of life. Say to God, "Lord Jesus, come into me. Deliver me from Satan's kingdom into Your kingdom. Forgive me of all that I did under the tyranny of Satan. Save me now." You will become a part of what God is doing in man to end all the suffering in the world and to bring His kingdom to the earth. I pray this information has inspired you. God bless. |

333 | What is the people sin? | NT general Archive 1 | inmyheart | 67244
Why Does God Let Innocent People Suffer? This is the most frequently asked question concerning God. If God is loving, why do evil people flourish and innocent people perish? Why does God not step in to help, deliver, and save? Millions of people died in World War II. Many innocent people are still dying all around the world today in war and in peace. Babies are born impaired. Children become crippled. Adults become paralyzed. Old people become invalids. There is senseless killing, lying, cheating, stealing, and robbing between and within nations and ethnic groups, in "bad neighborhoods" and "good neighborhoods," and in families. Who are the victims? Mostly the innocent - the children, the aged, and the nice people. Where is God? Is He not a loving God? Did He not create man? Why does He not help? Why does He let it happen? Isn't He in control? We need to go back to the beginning to see why things are the way they are and if there is a solution to this problem that all humanity faces. The Battle of Two Kingdoms The Bible tells us that before man was created, Lucifer, the archangel who was the ruler over the earth, had rebelled against God and become God's enemy, Satan. The earth had become the kingdom of Satan. Then there was a struggle between the two kingdoms - God's and Satan's. Man is to Express God and Rule for God Man was made by God in His image to express God and rule for God. To express God is to love as God loves, be righteous as God is righteous, and so on. God has many divine attributes, and man was created with the corresponding human virtues. Man is supposed to live a life that expresses God's divine attributes through his human virtues. To rule for God is to be God's deputy authority, king of the earth, to overthrow and replace Satan and to bring in God's kingdom of love and righteousness. Man was created perfectly. He would not get sick or die. God provided everything that man would need to live, to express God, and to rule for God. For man's physical existence, God gave man air, water, food, and sunshine. To make the environment pleasant for man, God made trees, flowers, and grass. To make the earth a lively place, God made the animals. For man to fulfill his function - expressing God and ruling for God - God made a spirit within man and set man before the tree of life. The tree of life signifies God becoming life to man. If man would take God into his spirit by eating the tree of life, man would have God as life and be able to express God and to rule for God. The Greatest Tragedy of the Universe Although God's intention would have been fulfilled if man ate from the tree of life, God still allowed man to choose between Him and Satan - signified by the tree of knowledge. Satan came in disguise, in trickery, and deceived man by making the tree of knowledge seem very pleasant. Man chose the tree of knowledge. Instead of God's life, man received the satanic life into himself, resulting in sin, evil, and death. The satanic life has been growing in man for the last six thousand years. Because man took in Satan's life, man is under the control of the satanic nature inwardly as well as the authority of Satan outwardly. The Bible calls Satan "the god of this age." Man is blinded by him. Man is lying in the hand of this evil one and is unconscious of what the evil one is doing to and in him. Satan's desire is to ruin and kill man. The real and living God created man, but the god of this age got into man. The universal tragedy is that the very man who was to be king living in God's kingdom has become a slave dying in Satan's kingdom. Satan is destroying the man God created, so that the condition today is not God's original intention. continued----------- |

Eph 1:11, In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will. As you can see, you were not born on earth with no choice, God planned you. He created you to be a member of His family, but each one of us has gone our way. Isaiah 53 6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. God loves you my friend, so much so that He sent His only Son to redeem you. John 3:16. God is not against you, read Jeremiah 29:11-13. The questions you are asking, are the same ones that I had asked also, you see we are all seeking the answer to why we are here on earth. God answered us in His written Word, the Bible. Give your life to God today, repent of your sins, through His Son Jesus, ask Him to be the Lord and Savior of your life. He will come into your life, and change that name, CONFUSING, and give you a name with meaning, and put it in the Book of Life! God bless |

335 | How assured? | Rom 8:16 | inmyheart | 67122
biblesearcher, Here are a few verses that answer your question, there are many more. 1 John 5 11, And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12, He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13, I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. Romans 5 1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 10 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. God bless |

336 | Are we healed already? | Is 53:5 | inmyheart | 67119
Searching for Truth, The Source and Origin of Sickness. In a very real sense, all sickness began because of sin. Physical death itself had started because of the sin of Adam: “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned” (Romans 5:12). Many individual instances of sickness had occurred since then as a direct result of specific sins. For example, after having healed a man who “had been an invalid for thirty-eight years” (John 5:5), Jesus said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you” (John 5:14). Although sickness itself had started due to Adam’s transgression, this is not to say that every instance of sickness is due to a specific sin that the individual has committed. In John 9, when Jesus and his disciples came across a man blind from birth, the disciples asked, “Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” (v.2).Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned” (v. 3). In other words, not every instance of sickness can be traced back to a particular sin. However, even if a particular instance of sickness is the direct result of a sin that one has committed, the word of God says that there is forgiveness for such a one. James 5:15 says, “The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.” We should be careful before determining the spiritual reasons for someone’s sickness. There are a number of reasons and it may not be a sin, so do not judge a person base on limited and inaccurate information. The person may not have sinned. He may have contracted the sickness and allow it to remain due to lack of wisdom or ignorance of the Scriptures, or some other reasons. God bless |

338 | Teacher, when were the 11 rebaptized? | Romans | inmyheart | 67109
"As in Acts, we baptize as the Lord adds to our number." Again, this is why there is baptism every Sunday! *********** By the way, how does your church handle those who have been baptized and fall into sin and then repent. Do they have to be rebaptized? To answer this would be another thread. My point is, people want to exclude being baptized after salvation, which is not true. "Thanks for your response!" You are welcome! |

My church has Wednesday night services; does yours? Thanks for your response! |

340 | Teacher, when were the 11 rebaptized? | Romans | inmyheart | 67041
--Joe! In Acts 22:16 we read-AND NOW WHY TARRIEST THOU? ARISE, AND BE BAPTIZED, AND WASH AWAY THY SINS, CALLING ON THE NAME OF THE LORD. Here it is clear, that water baptism after believing on Jesus is a commandment. Your below answer was all that needed to be said. I also believe that Grace motivates to be obedient to all of God's will for our lives. "Is there grace without baptism?" Of course there is. Grace motivates the believer to be baptized. God's grace is absolutely free and is not chained by our own activity or inactivity. Grace moves US to obedience; our obedience does not "let" God be gracious to us. ***************** Some churches today believe a person does not have to be baptized, while others believe it is required for salvation. Some baptize by total immersion, and others believe this is not necessary. The answer lies not in a denomination, not in the traditions of men, but in God’s Word only. Jesus warned us that the traditions of men make God’s Word of none effect. In other words, Jesus was saying, the traditions that you are doing are not from God’s Word, but are only of men; and being only of men, you are sending people to hell by your traditions. Thanks for you responce Joe! |
