Sorry my opinion doesn't count for much but that's all I have to offer :-) I have a lot of it though ;-) There is much more taught in this little interaction then just the answers that were given. Praise God! Great example Brother! Your Brother in Christ, Steve |

Greetings Carol, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! They were made clean by His blood! (Revelation 1:5) Read verses 13-16 to get a better understanding of what He was doing / teaching. The text does not allow for your interpretation. God bless, Steve |

483 | John 13:1 | John 13:15 | humbledbyhisgrace | 189343
Azure, My understanding is "the end" is referring to His time here on earth with them. Consider the first part of the verse "...Jesus knowing that His hour had come that He would depart out of this world to the Father..." I would think the washing of the disciples feet was aditional proof of the statement as it shows even though His hour had come, He humbled Himself once more taking the opportunity to teach them the ways of God! 484 | Should good men be allowed in Heaven? | John 14:6 | humbledbyhisgrace | 163568
The word of God is very clear about this. John 14:6 NKJV "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. " The bible is also very clear that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ and not of anything that we can do ourselves. We cannot obtain salvation through our works. Ephesians 2:8-10 KKJV 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works , which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Regardless of how good a person may be in our eyes, we are all sinners (Romans 3:23). We cannot use our interpretation of what is right or wrong as our guide because many times they are in disagreement with what God's word teaches us. The fact that you do not recall your Father teaching you about Jesus or never heard him proclaim Him has no meaning in regards to your Fathers relationship with God. Many born again Christians can be placed in the same category. I would also argue that many people who proclaim Jesus have not truly accepted Him. We are also taught this through the word of God in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me,'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven". Your desire to know that your earthly Father was saved is understandable. I don't even know you but my heart truly goes out to you regarding this issue. All Christians should be so concerned about their family members and others as well. There will come a day that there are no second chances. I hope this helps. I understand your concern and I think you simply have to place your trust in Christ on all things including this issue. It may very well be that your Father was saved. Although it would have been nice for you to have heard this from him, it is not what determines his salvation. God bless you and I pray God send His abounding peace on you! Steve |

485 | Sufism | John 14:6 | humbledbyhisgrace | 176040
Greetings Ocelot! I would have to guess your "friend" neither understands what a Christian is nor a sufi. If they did then they would have no trouble understanding they are not compatible. You should not be surprised at the fact a sufi would claim compatibility with Christianity. However, I would encourage you to keep in mind the enemy makes many false claims and spends much of the time trying to deceive. John 14:6 (NASB95) Jesus said* to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. This one scripture alone is enough to discount any religion that teaches anything different (i.e. sufism). I'm no sufi expert! However, It doesn't take long to browse the net and find the teachings and it doesn't take long to see they are not biblical. You will also find the sufi practice has attempted to hijack many different religions including islam. Hummm... imagine that?!?!? Turn about is fair play so they say :-) God bless! Steve |

486 | hi | John 14:6 | humbledbyhisgrace | 202657
It is important that you know the word of God says that all of us are sinners (Romans 3:23). No one is able to overcome their sins on their own. There is but one who has paid for our sins (Romans 6:23, Acts 4:12). It is by His grace through faith in Christ Jesus, not of our works nor anything we can do to earn it (Ephesians 2:4-10). What you must do is believe ONLY in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). For He says as many as receive Him, to them He gives the right to become children of God (John 1:12). No one comes to God the Father but through Christ Jesus (John 14:6)! No one! There is no other way! We do not discuss the quran here. This forum is only for discussing the word of God! If you seek to hear from the God of heaven and earth, the one and only true God in whom He Himself has said Steve H. |

487 | hi | John 14:6 | humbledbyhisgrace | 202660
raz, I failed to complete my last. What I intended to finish with is this. If you seek to hear from the God of heaven and earth, the One and only true God in which He Himself has revealed to mankind this truth. Acts 4:10-12 (NASB95) 4:10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by this name this man stands here before you in good health. 4:11 "He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone. 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved." Then ask what you will and many will help point you to what God's word says. For it is His word that is truth (John 17:17). Steve |

Charlie, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! It may be with the limited details I'm not completely understanding you. But with what you have stated, if it is true your wife was saved, then why is it you think there was a better way? Is this not how God chose to draw her to Himself? Was He not glorified? Is your wife not now secured in His saving grace? Steve |

Matt, You sound as one who has never dealt with any of these false teachers? For your edification, I pointed the user to the web site of Matt Slick (Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry) which is one of the best apologetics sites on the web. Brother Slick has dedicated his time and efforts to the ministry of apologetics and freely shares the information with others. It's a great site for equipping the saints to understand the biblical truths and the many false teachings out there. Steve |

Well Matt (?), based on your post it was the most logical assumption. There is plenty of information on the web regarding apologetics. Many good sites have already been recommended in this thread. Spend some time checking them out. They can do a much better job for you then I can in explaining apologetics. By the way, you remind me a great deal of bowler. Your writing style, argumentative personality, understanding of sola scriptura, apparent method of interpretation, context, etc... Did you use to hang out here on the forum as bowler? Steve |

495 | How do i get back on track with god?. | John 15:4 | humbledbyhisgrace | 202257
mittens, Study John 15:1-16. What you will find here is there is only one way to address your question and that is to abide in Christ! Study out this passage of scripture! Then daily read His word and spend time on your knees before Him! Spend time in fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ at your local church. Seek to be and fulfill that which God has gifted you for as a member of His body and conduct yourself in all things to His honor and glory (Ephesians 4). There is so much you can do and it all comes down to you abiding in Him! You will learn and understand what you are called to do as you study His word, pray and spend time with Him and also being an active part of the body of Christ. Steve |

498 | No Fruit? | John 15:8 | humbledbyhisgrace | 205385
John 15:8 (NASB) "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples." The desire is to bear much fruit! The question is, if we find ourselves in a place where not much fruit or perhaps no fruit is being produced that perhaps it is God's way of telling us to move on? Steve |
