862 | Church is kidnapped to Sodom! | James 2:8 | gracefull | 75031
I see. As one post pointed out, there are no perfect churches because there are no perfect people. How was this resolved? Was the pastor disciplined? Did he repent before the congregation and accept full responsibility? Did he respond to being disciplined(if he was)? |

Commit him to the Lord and move on. Do not allow the failures of others to influence your relationship with the Lord or other believers. Remember, we need to forgive, even when we have not been asked to, or when the other has repented. Not fellowshiping and harbouring unforgiveness are totally different. God bless |

864 | How about the other kind of tongues? | James 3:5 | gracefull | 74308
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The spoken word of God (not simply quoting scripture but the word/heart of God) sent forth produces life. The opposite of Godly words are Satanic(vain unGodly) words which work death. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. I believe that as our minds are renewed by God' s word and our hearts are changed we will begin to speak Godly words that produce life. Until then we should practice silence, and repentance for those we speak in error. This takes a powerful committment that God's word must be final authority over all we think, believe, and do. John 6:62-64 Our words are spirit, not mere physical sounds. They communicate the condition of our spirit, therefore we must pay close attention to what we are saying, not merely keep silent. They are symptoms of the illness of the heart, not the illness. Proverbs 18:20-21 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the iincrease of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. God bless |

865 | What causes a holier than thou attitude? | James 4:4 | gracefull | 84513
Hi mommapbs: "However I struggle a bit with the directive you suggest that I "reproove their deeds by my lifestyle." " I appreciate the message as believers do often demonstrate this unholy attitude. But I do not believe it comes from living a holy lifestyle, but rather an attitude of legalism and comparing themselves with others. Often when believers will not participate in unholy behaviour, they are accused of having a 'holier than thou' attitude when in reality they are just being obedient and faithful. The prideful heart causes this attitude, but most believers are not operating in pride even though they may be accused of doing so. Ephesians 5:11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; Our lifestyle of holiness will cause conviction by revealing God's true will to the lost or disobedinet believers. I personally believe this accusation comes from disobedient believers than from the lost world. God bless |

866 | What causes a holier than thou attitude? | James 4:4 | gracefull | 84565
Hi Mommapbs, My point is that just because one is accuesd, does not mean he is guilty, but should allow the Holy Spirit to examine his heart. And the accuser should be examining his or her own heart to know the source of the accusation. " Are believers who exhibit this attitude disobedient? Or are you saying that believer who perceives this attitude in another Christian is the disobedient one?" ometimes believers who are walking in dosobedience and are convicted by brothers or sisters who are being obedient and will take a 'self justification' attitude. To accuse their obedient brothers or sisters of pride (the source of a holier than thou attitude) somehow makes them feel better. This attitude will be sin because it is revellion against the conviction of the Holy Spirit, a hardening of the heart. Sometimes young believers will sucumb to the pressure to 'prove' they are not 'holier than thou' and join in the disobedient acts. AS believers we should, rather, ask the Holy Spirit to examine and reveal any uncleanness (pride) and if there is none, pray for the accuser, and continue in obedience. "As for me, I see legalism is the generator of the holier than thou attitude in fellow believers. And in my opinion, legalism denies the sufficiency of the Grace of God. Therefore, the one with the legalistic mindset is at enmity with the Spirit - what causes division among you? Jude 1:19" I agree. Both legalists and moralist place their faith in their works of righteousness rather than the righteousness of Jesus we receive through faith. Thus the HEART of the matter is pride. Any believer can fall into this trap of comparing ourselves with others as the Pharasee and the Publican, so we should guard our heart and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what is in our heart regularly, as opposed to assuming because we are not committing 'external' and odvious acts of sin, we must be OK. We can be walking the walk and talking the talk, and our heart be in sin. God bless. Our pastor was teaching on this last night reminding believers that the externally actions are the RESULT or the manifestation of the sinful state of the heart. God bless |

869 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | James 5:14 | gracefull | 75309
Searcher, I find your answer interesting. Please explain it scripturally. "I have faith to be healed so if they cannot heal me, they are fake". God heals not man. So if God does not heal you, the teacher is fake? If someone teaches the Word of God and the Word of God does not produce the promise in your life, the teacher is fake? If someone preaches the new birth and someone does not receive, was the word untrue? Was the teacher 'fake'? My dear one, God heals through Faith in His Word, faith in His covenant, faith in Jesus Christ's redemptive work. NO MAN on earth can heal and if we go to them expecting THEM to heal we most assuredly will come away empty. God bless |

870 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | James 5:14 | gracefull | 75312
P.S. Do not interpret my post to in any way imolicate that I do not believe we should seek our dorctors counsel or take medecine. I do belive we should seek God's word for the truth of His wil to heal, while maintaining our care. When faith comes, God can heal whether we are taking medecine or not! Nor was my statement a criticism of your faith, ut rather a declaration that it is God's word we must rely on, not men, and it is Go's word that provides, not men. I believe many have gone to men seeking them to heal and when it did not happen they concluded that God did not want them healed. That, and any other concuusion must come from the Word of God. Romans 10:17 God bless |

871 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | James 5:14 | gracefull | 75351
There are a few who havebeen exposed for lying and deception, however, my point was that just because one does not receive healing when hands are laid upon them does not mean the one praying is fake. It was the blanket statement that caused me to pause. Remember Mark 6:6. Continue in the word and believe it despite anyting you see or hear! And be very cautious to criticize others. Let God do the correction, He is very good at it. God bless you! |

872 | the bible speakes of man or woman | James 5:16 | gracefull | 88358
"I have found no scripture that is gender specific.Remember gender is not found in the bible. when the bible speaks of man it is talk ing about man or woman." While I agree this is true in many instances, I question your use of the term 'found no scripture that is gender specific'. enesis 2:22-24 is one among many.. Galatians 3:27-29 states that in Christ, or in the spiritual birth, there are no differentiations. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. Spiritually there is no difference, but in the flesh, there is. And there is definitely levels of authority. "Wives, submit..." God bless |

873 | Did Jesus go to hell? | 1 Peter | gracefull | 80326
faith-dude..do a word search and you will find a wealth of information. Due to the sensitive naure of this subject I wll not go into it again at this point. I would point out that the teaching is not unscriptural but is contrary to 'orthodox doctrine' which should not matter if scriptural truth is more important to you than 'orthodox doctrine'. I am not anti-orthodox but I do not believe believers are to follow orthodox teaching blindly and not search the scriptures for themselves. The Holy Spirit has been given to each of us to teach us truth. Secondly: The doctrine that Jesus went to hell (died spiritually or experienced the same 'seperation from God' that a sinner would have experienced) should not be strange and it in no way even implies Jesus was not divine. If nothing else it confirms his divinity! And those I have heard that teach and believe this acknowledge the divinity of Jesus Christ the Messiah totally. These teachers also consider scripture final authority rather than the 'common interpretation of scripture'. Also study, alongside this study, the power and necessity of the ressurection. See www.studybibleforum.com There is a lengthy and indepth APOLOGETIC on this subject. Do the search and prayerfully ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. God bless |

874 | Did Jesus go to hell? | 1 Peter | gracefull | 80423
"And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who [Heb 7:19] comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him." Ed...I have studied the WOF teaching and this is a lie... Our faith is in the covenant of blood through Jesus Christ our Lord and God's Word. The word faith (depending on which translation you choose) is used 550 times. Every promise, beginning with our salvation must be received by faith....Justified by faith...righteous by faith...healed by faith....delivered by faith... Absolutely nothing provided through the new covenant can be received except through faith which worketh by love... I pointed out to you on other posts where Hank LIED in his book and you still defend his book and call it TRUTH. I suppose as long as there are only a few lies...it is still a reputable book. |

Radioman Likewise, you have provided me with a perfect example of anti-WOF folks ASSUMPTIONS. "Do they (WOF followers) seriously consider the information provided? No, instead they launch ad hominem (marked by an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made) attacks on the sources I quote." You assume we have not seriously considered the information simply because we may disagree with you! There is one thing most believers who hear and agree with some to these teachers predominantly. We believe the Word of God is superior to man's ideas. Why would you believe we will throw away the beliefs we gather from God's Word because of the opinions in Hank's book? Especially when we realize what he is accusing us of believing is not what we believe? Our foundation is grounded in the Word. If you folks9anti-WOF) really do believe the teachings are scripturally incorrect, stop (especially here on the BIBLE STUDY FORUM) paroting the snide remarks and inuendos, and accusations against your brothers and sisters, and get the teachings and do an objective comparison study. This attitude only promotes divisiveness...Love speaks Truth (My word is truth) Go to http://evangelizeamerica.org choose 'apologetics' look toward the bottom of the list. There are also several apologetis about what the WOF teachings are and what they are not. God bless |

876 | Did Jesus go to hell? | 1 Peter | gracefull | 80449
See my response to radioman. Their faith wasn't in Christ Jesus their faith was in faith, that God would give them their heart's desire with no concern for their best interest. there are some who believe what they want to believe..there are Baptist who believe they can continue in sin as long as they go to church regularly...There are full gospel folks who put their faith in their works... There are folks who put their faith in their pastors.... While I agree that some of these teachers may not emphasize the need to know God's Word and to seek knowledge of His will, most of them do teach it. However, some simply do not choose to hear. This WOF vendeta attitude is misplaced in the body of Christ. (read my post to radioman) I personally had a strong committment to learn the whole of the matter and asked questions and compared scripture and found it to be a great deal true. Including such truths, which WOF teaches, that faith works by love. We seek to find the will of God in scripture and prayer and ardently apply faith to the Word and don't move no matter what! Where this differs from most denominations teachings, is that faith applied to the Word only works if it is God's Will.We believe His Word is His will. God bless |

This also disturbs us. We’ve seen too many good Christians striving to “believe” their sickness away, and finally collapsing into self-condemnation and utter discouragement over their “lack of faith” or the “sin” in their lives. Most likely, there was a divine purpose for that sickness in their lives, and it would have been a lot easier on them, after they prayed in faith and nothing happened, to have ceased striving and simply rested in the comforting sovereignty of God. Tell me ONE time JESUS told someone they had to remain sick because it was God's sovereign will? God bless |

Not one time did Jesus encounter in His entire 3 years of ministry, the first person who was supposed to be sick because God wanted to teach them something....That causes me to question everything in scripture pertaining to sickness and disease...There was such a major part of His ministry don't you believe He would have been wise enough to teach us that God makes us sick to teach us? No..I do not believe sickness is the chastening rod of God. God bless |
