841 | Judgement:preachers who curse nontithers | Heb 7:8 | gracefull | 79321
Truth Fighter...Your question,'How do I restore peace in my family' may be found in a few questions. Are you a member of your father's church? Did you take a stand against him thus challenging his authority? You may want to repent for this action and confess that the manner in which you handled this disagreement was incorrect. First, pray and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and favor with your father. Then purhaps you should tell your father from the heart that you want the family to return to being peaceful and until the Holy Spirit shows you otherwise you would rather keep this subject "off limits". If you are a member, and strongly disagree, (as it appears you do) you should take the matter of where you should hold membership before the Holy Spirit. To strongly disagree with a church order that strongly believes, will always cause a problem. We should not hold membership with a church body we strongly disagree with on issues of importance to that body. You will not be 'in agreement' with them. Your father may agree to disagree as long as you agree to no longer discuss it with family and members. Let them search out the scriptures for themselves and be fully persuaded in their own hearts, and if they ask, suggest they do just that. I hope this helps, God bless |

842 | Operate on faith or endure? | Heb 11:1 | gracefull | 66808
no one can tell you what God is wanting you to do unless they operate in one of the gifts and God gives them a word for you. Faith in God is not blind faith. God desires us to know His will for our lives and through the Holy Spirit and His word gives us guidance. Seek God in prayer asking Him to reveal His will to you and wait for Him to show you. The faith in Hebrews 11 and what Charles Stanley is talking about is faith in God to carry you through adversity to His fulfilled purpose. We do not ADD God to our will but we find God's will and believe God because He said so. Sometimes faith inGod's direction leads us OUT of a situation and sometimes we must have faith in God through the situation. In my personal testimony I experienced both of these on my last job. Early in my job I was told by God to put my faith in Him while being harrassed by a convicted supervisor..I saw God work miracles through that, then 12 years later God severed my 'heart' ties with that job and I was led away. Seek God in prayer and listen for His still small voice. Apply your faith to His promise that He will hear your prayer and answer. Isaiah 30:21 Psalm 32:8 The Holy Spirit has been given to lead you.But He will not drag us, nor will He restrain us..our will must be surrendered. Remember, faith is not blind, it is applied to God's word and His will as revealed to your spirit by His Spirit. HUGE difference God bless |

843 | hebrews 11 honor roll of O.T.? | Heb 11:1 | gracefull | 66818
Yes, these all died in faith 'having not received the promise'. These were extroadinary in that they believed God against all hope and never let go. They were not extroadinary in their 'holiness'. All these men failed God and sinned. Some committed adultery, some murder, some both... But what they had in common was they believed God's promise made to Abraham. But we can't stop there and say "wow those men were so great and I cannot even imagine being in their league". These are listed here as EXAMPLES of Godly faith (not a mere history lesson or to exalt them). God having provided SOME BETTER THING FOR US. Chapter 12 continues this discourse Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of WITNESSES, let US lay aside every weight and the sin that doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author AND the finisher of our faith. These are witnesses to the faithfulness of God when we place and hold faith in God's Word. Notice it says 'author'? Faith comes by HEARING and HEARING by the word of God. In the beginning was the Wrod, the Word was with God and the Word was God..and by the Word was all things created. Be encouraged AND challenged by Hebrews 11 to be all God has called you to be! In Jesus |

844 | true saving faith | Heb 11:1 | gracefull | 66819
Considering your statement "Faith is not believing in spite of the evidence..." how do these scriptures fit that definition? Roman's 4:18-20 (paraphrased) Abraham being not weak in faith considered not his own body nor the deadness of Sarah's womb: he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith. I definitely agree with obedience despite the consequences because we do not always look at God's desired conclusion. Paul went Jerusalem KNOWING he would be inprisoned and sent to Rome, but he did not care for his personal well being but desired the purpose of God. Hope turns to faith when we HEAR the promise from God's Word by His Spirit. Faith produces or births the conclusion. Abraham desired or hoped for a child, God promised him a child, Abraham refused to consider the natural impossibility and expected the supernatural possibility by believing Him faithful who promised. hope---to--faith---to---receiving the object of faith. In Abraham's case Issac. |

Considering your statement "Faith is not believing in spite of the evidence..." how do these scriptures fit that definition? Let's consider this. Roman's 4:18-20 (paraphrased) Abraham hoped against hope according to the word "so shall thy seed be" being not weak in faith considered not his own body nor the deadness of Sarah's womb: he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith. I do agree that faith often must act..such as we hear the gospel, receive it in our heart as truth then act by repentence and confession. Faith does require a corresponding action, or submission of will. |

I wish I could answer your question.. but all I can say is that I studied under Kenneth Copeland for years and this is what I learned through listening to his teaching, studying the word prayerfully. Most of the other WOF teachers I have listened to but not 'studied with' so to speak. Maybe as we share together more here we can figure this out. Now maybe you see why those statements were so confusing to me. We can dialogue more and purhaps bridge a gap. Thank you for your encouraging words. Your sister in Christ |

847 | Operate on faith or endure? | Heb 11:1 | gracefull | 67362
Hi Ed. Sorry I am late. I have been having technical difficulty. This response may be broken up into several small continuations. Let's begin with the issue of obligating God. The misconception seems to be that I believe God is obligated to my faith, even if I ask against aHis will. I have never said that, nor have I heard anyone else say that. Since this response is not to defend KC I intend to state my belief according to what I see in scripture. Covenant: 1.A formal agreement 2.the conditional promises made to humanity by God as revealed in scripture. Hebrews 8:10-12 (God speaking) This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall not teach one another or say to each other, " Know the Lord" for they shall all know me, from the least to the greatest. Obligation: the act of bining oneself, a duty, contract, promise, a social, moral or legal requirement that compels one to avoid or follow a course of action. If God initiated the covenant, has He not obligated Himself to keep it? Hebrews 10:19- Thereforem my friends, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain(that is through his flesh) and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, washed with pure water. Let us hold fast to the confession of hope without wavering FOR HE WHO PROMISED IS FAITHFUL. Continued........ |

PART 2 So far we see a covenant God made to write His laws in our minds and hearts... So the covenant is not just to go to heaven. When the Spirit of truth has come, He will lead and guide you into all truth. And als the Spirit of God is the revealer of the Word from the heart of God.. 1 Cor. 2:9-15 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neith have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him. BUT God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea the deep things of God....Now we have received not the spirit of this world, but the spirit which is of God: that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual... vs 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. Siverign: Supreme in rank, power, and authority Hebrews 6:13 When God made promise to Abraham, because He had no greater by wwhom to swear, He swore by himself... Galatians 3:1 The promise of Abraham is received by faith. vs 7 know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham? I have to close now. The Covenant was given by God who in His sovereignty was able to make and keep this covenant. He has bound Himself (see obligation) to His word of promise. The covenant is not merely eternal salvation but all the promises in the book finally provided once for all through our high priest Jesus who is the mediator of this new covenant. And the Holy spirit is the teacher, the revealer of this covenant to each of us personally. Though we are not al at the same place spiritually, not all in the same classroom so to speak, we are all (all who have entered the covenant by faith through Jesus shed blood) being taught according to His plan and purpose for each of us. So we will all do well to remember who the teacher really is, make sure we are hearing Him, and judge no one. We will have to talk more later, I have to go. God Bless! |

849 | Operate on faith or endure? | Heb 11:1 | gracefull | 67379
Hi Ed..Before we jump ahead on our responsibilities in the covenant let's establish God's part. That seemed to be in question and if God has not obligated Himself to keep His part of His covenant then the rest is not relevant. To choose life is to enter into covenant with God. To be born into His kingdom He becomes ours and we become His. Jesus said all authority has been given unto me both in heaven and in earth, now you go....JESUS IS LORD OVER THIS KINGDOM WE ARE IN. Not our responsibility or the benefits of the covenant. It is very important that believers settle in their heart that God is faithful to His word first and totally(whether the promise is receive Jesus and go the heaven, reject him and go to hell) or any of the others. A personal note here is that until I came to this established faith in God to keep His word, my confidence even in my salvation wavered from time to time. Fear would set in that God would or had changed his mind because i was not perfect, not worthy. Then I found out God is faithful to His promise no matter what and gained peace to move forward in faith and begin to grow up in Him by believing other promises.. Next being the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the next being the gifts...Until our faith in His faithfulness to His word. Then we must consider our part. Luke 14:27-29 Jesus says take up the cross and follow him and advises to 'consider the cost'. I had to break this morning so was unable to getto the other points, several you brought up. I would like to start with Hebrews 6:13-18 I brought up verse 13 and had to sorten my statement so did not go into verses 15-20 16 Human beings of course swear by someone greater than themselves, and an oath given as cinfirmation puts an end to the dispute. In the same way when God desired to show even more clearly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it by an oath so that through two unchangeable things in which it is impossible that God would prove false(lie), we who have taken refuge be strongly encouraged to seize the hope set befor us.... God swore by Himself the covenant he made with Abraham and Jesus is the final sacrafice providing us with that covenant. Matthew 13:34-35 Jsesus told the crowds all these parables; without a parable he told them nothing. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the profit: I will open my mouth to speak in parables; I will proclaim what has been hiddn from the foundation of the world. Hebrews 4;2 For indeed the good news came to us just as to them; but the message they heard did not benefit them because they (message) were not united with faith with those who listened. For we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said "As in my anger I swore, they shall not enter my rest," though His works were finished at the foundation of the world. God decided to make a covenat provision for man before the foundation fo the world. But as we see here in Hebrews 4 the words were not 'united' or as the KJ says the words were not 'mixed with faith' so God angrily said they shall not enter my rest. But throughout these scriptures is woven in the faithfulness of God to His promise, our confidence to go boldly into His presence throught the blood, and how He WANTS us to have this confidence and assurance. So when I say God has obligated Himself and He is faithful I am giving Him high praise, not exalting myself! I consider it an insult to God to say that He might or might not keep His words of promise! God decided before the foundation of the world because He knew man would fall to establish a covenant promise that would ultimately bring Jesus and provide the New covenant promise of His law written in our minds and our hearts.. Though there are many other scriptures, for me these establish God's faithfulness to His covenant with man. As you pointed out quite well, there are conditions IN the covenant man must keep. What are these conditions? According to Hebrew 4(see above) faith is the first and foremost requirement. Faith in Jesus, faith in the word of promise, faith in God's faithfulness. Second...getting into the covenant to find out what it says, what are the conditions for certain promises, What Is His Will for me? Spending time with Him in His word and in His presence to be 'transformed' into the likeness of Jesus. Are we on the same page? If not let's work here a while longer. God Bless you my brother |

854 | What does God's correction look like | Heb 12:6 | gracefull | 88710
No, my friend. Sickness and desease are a result of the curse of sin. God chastens His children by His Word and the conviction of the Holy Spirit. When we disobey the Word of God and the leadership of the Holy Spirit, we 'reap' the harvest of the seed we sow. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Jesus provided for us peace with God, and deliverance from the kingdom of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of God. Jesus bore the punishment for our sins on the cross. He HImself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, and REDEEMED us from the curse of the law of sin and death. Sickness and poverty fal under the curse. God bless |

Have you ever been convicted by the Holy Spirit which brought a sense of weakness to your soul? A grieved weariness? Paul is saying to stand up and move on now. See verse 5...do not give up and become discouraged, but be encouraged..because your Father loves you and disciplined you for your good! read some of the Psalms... Does that help? God bless |

856 | confusion with Acts 5:1 | Heb 13:8 | gracefull | 89147
Hi Dan, Our culture does not respond well to prompt and strong punishment. We are raised in such a way as to be passive and tolerant of sin. But God is the holy God! These two deliberately lied to the Holy Spirit of God! Let me challenge you as a new believer not to judge the Word based on what you think or believe, but rather ask God to open your eyes to see Him as He is. Do you wonder why people are not falling dead this way today? Has God changed? No, I believe it is the same reason we are not seeing the miracles in abundance as in the early church...we as children of God have departed from holiness and God has withdrawn His Presence. Not totally, but enough as to keep us from all falling dead in our unholy treatment of that which is holy. So when you read that these two died instantly for lying to the Holy Spirit, a sense of the need to humble ourselves before God should be our response. Read Exodus about the holiness of the presence of God and how God could only reveal Himself in small portions and behind the vail. |

857 | How to find Hope? | James 1:1 | gracefull | 70224
Your answer is in the same text...Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, KNOWING(my emphasis) that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have it's perfect result(complete), so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God, who gives generously and without reporach, and it will be given to him. The way to have joy during a trial is to have the KNOWLEDGE that this trial or test of your faith is going to mature you and ineveitably make you complete lacking nothing. Ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten you to the joy of looking to that goal! It is a revelation of God's love for you as His child. The Joyful expectation of the goal held Jesus to the cross. Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Joy sees only the goal. |

858 | Sure of a solid foundation in Christ? | James 1:21 | gracefull | 71729
The first place to check is to return to the spiritual alter they first came to Jesus at and examine that in light of scripture...Was my new birth genuine. 1. Do I know the Spirit of God was convicting me of my sins. 2. Did I repent? 3. Did the peace of God come? Along with the desire to let Jesus be Lord and turn from my old life to a new one? If the answer is no, this would be the place to start. But if the answer is yes....look on. Each of us hit 'spiritual crisis' points in our walk. This is one I hit and the scripture the Lord led me to was this: James 1:21-23 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deeds. Also see...Luke 6:47-49 When we study the Bible and become theologically correct, we fool ourselves into believing that we are wise. The word of God is LIVING and SPIRITUAL. We are to BECOME the word as the Holy Spirit reveals and transforms us into the image of Christ. If this is not happening we may be born again but empty. The relationship we are born into has not been developed. Prayer time seeking fellowship with God's Spirit with and through the REVEALED (not taught) word. Hebrew 8:11 And they shall not teach everyman his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. When we put our confidence in and learn from man, we only learn that man's understanding, or hear that man's revelation, but we are to seek our own. The Holy Spirit teaches each of us personally, and human teachers only point in that direction. 1John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. Teachers are called of God, no doubt, but they can only teach what they have learned from the Holy Spirit and/or Bible study. They can only teach their revelation, giving us a sense of direction to 'look for truth'. We must seek that personal revelation for ourselves, because until we receive and DO that from the Holy Spirit, we are not CHANGED. One must have the courage to move from religion to relationship which is to move from carnal to spiritual. If we are willing and seek God fervently in prayer and commit to do whatever He reveals to us, He will begin to direct your life into one of purpose, His purpose. God Bless |

859 | Christians? | James 1:22 | gracefull | 85188
If I may add a scripture that is on the subject but offers a little different perspective. Romans 2:1-5 Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. 3 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His (6) kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 1 Corinthians 4:2-5 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. 3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. 4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. 4 For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not by this acquitted; but the one who examines me is the Lord. 5 Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men's hearts; and then each man's praise will come to him from God. I have found myself asking this question concerning others and found that my own heart condemned me for I was envious of evil doers because they were 'getting away with' their disobedience. I found myself convicted of things others were seemingly not convicted of and resented that. And have wanted the one who sinned against me to be punished! Only God knows the heart of a person and what is in the heart is what matters to God. We must be very careful not to observe outward appearances and passing 'heart judgements'. God bless |

860 | Christians? | James 1:22 | gracefull | 85218
"If anyone thinks himself to be religious (piously observant of the external duties of his faith) and does not bridle his tongue but deludes his own heart, this person's religious service is worthless (futile, barren). James 1:27 External religious worship [religion as it is expressed in outward acts] that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is this: to visit and help and care for the orphans and widows in their affliction and need, and to keep oneself unspotted and uncontaminated from the world." I do not believe, James is not speaking of salvation here, but rather unfruitful believers. Unfruitful because the Word of truth is not being allowed to 'change' them which is the progressive work of the Holy Spirit and the Word mixed with faith. Got to go, we can talk more tomorrow. I will read Acts tonight for fresh input. God bless |
