781 | J. Preston Eby? | 2 Cor 11:4 | gracefull | 82977
True..One thing we all must remember when stating that others are blind or distorting the gospel.. Most likely every single one of us is quilty of this, thus we reason together, and pray for one another(and ourselves) the prayer in Colossians "we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;" And then I like to add "And let grace keep me where I am missing it!" The Holy Spirit is the revealer of Truth. God bless, |

782 | Why a thorn in the flesh? | 2 Cor 12:7 | gracefull | 67548
That is a very good conclusion. There is no reason to believe Paul had moved to another subject. These things would definitely buffet our flesh or carnal nature.(here Paul's was pride)
783 | When to consult others on God's will? | Gal 1:1 | gracefull | 72788
Based on the subject matter-learning to discern and obey the voice of God personally-and taking the scripture reference Paul knew he had heard from God. If we already know what God is telling us to do, and we begin to ask others, we will become confused. Hope that helps |

"He does not impart his holy spirit and an understanding and appreciation of His Word apart from His visible organization.” The Watchtower July 01, 1965" The first thing I noticed in the above quote is that they do no capitalize Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity...That tells me A LOT. WE ARE THE CHURCH.. YOU, ME AND ALL OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS.. God bless |

786 | What does Denial and True Discipliship? | Gal 2:20 | gracefull | 89223
Death to our self. The surrender of our dreams for His dreams, our plans for His plans, our goals for His goals. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 787 | What does Denial and True Discipliship? | Gal 2:20 | gracefull | 89225
Hello mercy@grace2u, The price of discipleship is anything we have to let go of/or do to obey the instruction and guidance of the Word of God and the holy Spirit Death to our self. 2 Timothy 1:8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; As believers we should also not e surprised when persecutions arise. Jesus was persecuted and falsely accused..and we must be prepared to suffer likewise. The world hates what opposes it's sinful ways. If we are light and salt, the world will hate us. Matthew 10:37 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Sometimes when the Holy Spirit begins to lead us, we wil find we are going in the oosite direction of people we love. We must continue the walk the Holy Spirit leads us in regardless of the pressure to turn and conform. God bless |

788 | God can use woman in the ministry? | Gal 3:28 | gracefull | 92342
Hello gruvebana, 1 Corinthians 11:5 This verse indirectly addresses this question. Paul himself is saying here that indeed women were permitted to prophesy, teach, etc as long as she has a covering. The covering being the approval of her husband or pastor. Women are not to usurp their authority. Since this sounds like a contradiction to Timothy's statement in 1 Timothy 2:12, one must ask for wisdom to explain the difference. But clearly based on 1 Corinthians 11:5 women were allowed to participate in public worship and ministry. 1 Corinthians 11:5 And any woman who [publicly] prays or prophesies (teaches, refutes, reproves, admonishes, or comforts) when she is bareheaded dishonors her head (her husband); it is the same as [if her head were] shaved. If you go to word search and type in this topic you will probably find more discussion than you care to read. Hope this helps, God bless |

789 | What is the Link of faith and works? | Gal 5:6 | gracefull | 70769
This is how I understand faith and works. Faith is confidence in something whether that is God's promise or the wisdom of the world and/or the lies of Satan. To have faith in God's word concerning any given subject requires something, because faith mixed with the word produces. The woman with the issue of blood said that if she could only touch the hem of His garment. The centurion said "speak the word only and my servant will be healed". Faith that believes God and acts accordingly produces the results God has promised. The question is not really how faith and works go together, but what are works of faith. Are the efforts to manipulate God or are they acts of belief. When one goes to the car and inserts the key, faith is working. (not faith in God's word necessarily but faith that the key inserted properly will produce the results that correlate with the action because we have maintained the vehicle properly). Works are not efforts to make something happen such as taking the car key and trying to crank the bicycle. One may say, 'but I am acting in love trying to crank this bicycle. Yes, but not according to the bicycle manual. One might say, 'I am 'doing the word' but the Word and faith are not mixed with love.(God's kind of love, not our carnal love)Faith works by love. God's word is the guidebook to life and when we learn from the teacher(the Holy Spirit)-faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God- and follow the manual (the work of faith because we love God and know we are loved of God)the results God (and we)desire will come. Faith in God and His word come through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. If we accept and act on the Word (be doers and not hearers only deceiving our own selves) because of the love of God in our hearts, God's will be manifest in our lives. Faith in God's word from a heart of love produces the desired result. Faith-Word-Love of God Romans 10:17 Gal. 5:6 Hebrews 4:1-3 |

790 | What is the Link of faith and works? | Gal 5:6 | gracefull | 70858
Hi Ed. Hope you had a blessed Christmas. You said," but (my answer) presupposes that we know what God's will is." My answer... 1 Corinthians 2:15-17 We (who are spiritual) have the mind of Christ. And also the Spirit of truth has been given to each of us to lead us and guide us into all truth. God's word is His will and when revealed to our spirit by His Spirit we will know His will. You said, " Your faith is not in God but rather in what you have determined in your mind to be what God's word says about a situation. Which may or may not be true." My answer.. 1. God's word and God are inseperable. faith in His word is faith in Him. 2. Our total purpose in life is to seek to know and do God's will. Surely we will miss Him some times and probably a lot more often when we are told we can't 'know' His will. But if we do not give up, we learn to know His voice. If we learn early in the small stuff, we will hear in the big stuff. Your hypothetical..You said "the friend gets the job back (God gives us the desires of our heart).. No...God gives us the desires of our heart when our heart is in line with His...I said...." One might say, 'I am doing the word' but the Word and faith are not mixed with love." The desire of our heart in line with the desire of His heart. Your hypothetical is somwhat confusing because you implied God gave the job back at the prayer of the friend regardless of God's will. God does not answer prayer against His will and no where have I said He does. I have said that when a child of God has received direction in their spirit by the Word and the Holy Spirit they are to act accordingly and God will give the results. You said, " Would it be better to pray God's will?" You probably meant 'God's will be done' as in 'I don't know God's will'. As i pointed out before, God did not send His Spirit and His word for us to wonder around in uncertainty, but when we are baby Christians there are times when we need to seek Godly counsel of elders, but we should be maturing in our personal relationship that we learn to hear for ourselves. No, I believe it is better to learn to hear God directing you through life by His word and by His Spirit. I can't really respond to your hypothetical because there are too many unanswered issues such as.. 1. Is this person mature in the Lord and familiar with the voice of the Holy Spirit? Because if they were listening they would have heard God's direction. 2. It is more likely that someone who does not believe they can hear from God to be fooled by the enemy. Here is a jobless person facing all type of fears and oppression not knowing God's will and maybe not knowing God would direct him, trying to place his faith in circumstances...the job becoming available again. How can that be better than hearing from the Holy Spirit? Scripturally we are directed to seek to know God's will/word and obey by faith. God does not fail, we fail. Our culture does not want to tell our children that they are wrong. Our culture does not want to injure our children to 'compete' because they may lose. Let me say this in closing. We as God's children may miss the mark occasionally, we may listen to the wrong spiritual voice sometimes, but the Word assures us that if we continue to seek, we will find, if we continue to knock it will be opened, if we ask, we shall receive...and that He will hold us up. When we stop believing God in one point, that unbelief begins to contaminate all the Word in our lives. We are competing with an enemy who does seek to steal, kill and destroy so if we do not contend in faith in God's word, the enemy will steal it all. God Bless |

791 | Difference of God | Eph 5:1 | gracefull | 69631
Interesting observation. God still deals with us as children, in that He teaches and disciplines. Hebrews 12:5-8 But the difference is the New Covenant verses the Old. The old was one of law, strict rule and severe punishment (read Deuteronomy 28) which contain the blessings of obedience and the curses of disobedience. In the New Covenant, we are in an intimate relationship through the new birth and I believe the difference is instead of having to be harshly controlled because of hardened hearts we are now expected to follow in love. Ephesians 5:1-2 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. And as it says in Hebrews 8, now His laws are written in our hearts. |

793 | 2Cor6 | Eph 6:4 | gracefull | 81691
2 corinthians 2:6-9 Paul is refering to the congregational rebuke of a brother. Paul says it is time to frogive and comfort him so that he is not overcome with sorrow. I believe it speaks the same message as Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Rebuke or chastening is not to ounish, but to teach, but there are some who long after the matter should be done continue to inflict with words of rejection until the 'lesson' learned is one of frustrated anger, bitterness, hopelessness. 794 | Searching for the truth | Eph 6:12 | gracefull | 72956
This scripture is clearly pointing to the 'source' of the war of good and evil being waged here in the earth...This scripture(in context) also gives us a clear description of how the believer is to be armed as warriors against these demonic warriors, who are waring against the body of Christ. At this point if you are a born again believer (as you have become led to seek this truth) it would be wise to meditate in being armed, exactly what each part of the armour is and how you are to 'be armed'. If you are not, it would be wise to realize you are in the war and on the wrong side. No one is 'neutral'. One is for God and one is against Him. We are not against each other. God bless! |

795 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | Phil 1:2 | gracefull | 75306
But to remain in the fleshnis nore necessary for you. Since I am convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in faith. With joyfull expectation we desire to be with the Lord. But if your work is not done love will restrain you to stay. Love will restrain you to be healed to continue your work. I am convinced that we have a choice and your post seems to indicate that you too belive there is a choice. I suggest you ask the Lord is there more work to do. Something I frimly believe, we all must go by way of the grave unless the rapture takes place, but I personally do not believe it has to be through sickness. I believe NO sickness or disease is from God. God bless you, If it is time and your work is done, I ENVY YOU in a Godly manner! |

"according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" Relationship! In accordance to or to the same measure...All His riches in glory. Would you think there would be anything lacking in God? I think a good cross reference here might be 2 Peter 1:2-4 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according as His divine power hath made unto us allall things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Key words to think about... What do they mean to you? 1. Grace and peace - multiplied unto you 2. Through the knowledge of God and Jesus (our Lord) 3. According to His power 4. Has given all things 5. Life and godliness 6. great and precious promises 7. Partakers of the divine nature All your need is supplied but where and what is the supply? Do not look for the 'supply' but diligently seek the 'supplier' for it is as you grow in the knowledge of Him that you receive the supply. (as you go-in your walk with Him-by faith) |

798 | Please explain Phil 4:19 | Phil 4:19 | gracefull | 70180
Hello brother Ray. I was quoting from the King James. There is one misquote... I said " his divine power hath MADE" rather than "his divine power hath given". Other than that all seems well. I believe new believers should be introduced to the fact that they are called and chosen for a purpose early in their walk. The course of their life has now changed, and that they are now in a relationship with the Father and Jesus through the Holy Spirit. Then as they learn and grow in that 'relationship' they will be concious of a higher purpose. Being connected to the vine is our life source and the supply of all our needs for the furtherance and growth of the body. We are family! Thanks for your post.. God Bless! |

799 | Is God hand so short that he cannot lead | Col 2:21 | gracefull | 88879
Tim, you are correct...this is a problem in some denominations and if not in the denomination it can be the culture of particular churches. I believe it is a 'control' problem and can be compared to over control of a parent to a child. It can be fear based or selfishness based, but neither is condusive to the developement of mature Holy Spirit reliant believers. God bless |

800 | mystery hidden from foundation of world! | Col 3:4 | gracefull | 88351
Hi Tim, I pulled the Amplified version for a clearer picture... Philemon 1:6 [And I pray] that the participation in and sharing of your faith may produce and promote full recognition and appreciation and understanding and precise knowledge of every good [thing] that is ours in [our identification with] Christ Jesus [and unto His glory]. Actually it says that as we communicate our 'faith' a deeper revelation of Christ's provision to us/ a deeper revelation of Christ IN us...our life... 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the SAME IMAGE from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. This is how I see it. God bless |
