21 | God is everywhere? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73742
I absolutely agree with the comparison of John 2:24, 25. As a matter of fact this morning that verse was prevalent in my thinking and I started to use the comparison but decided to wait and see if the conversation continued. However I am not sure of the contrast you speak of. Purhaps you would clarify? Jesus is the fulfillment of the promise. But I do not see a contrast in righteousness and justice. Abraham questioned if the Lord would destroy the wicked with the righteous.. and indeed interceeded for them. I do not understand the question/observation of choosing between angels and the Lord. Please clarify your response God bless |

22 | God is everywhere? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73813
Good morning Ray. When I reread the the entire passage I came to several points, and you have touched on them.... 1. The NAS translates one of the visitors as LORD which to my understanding is Jehovah. So we have Jehovah and two others (not at the beginning identified as angels). Do you see this as a possible symbolism of the trinity considering they were there and addressing the covenant? 2. Abraham is being 'tested' to speak out for the righteous, to interceed and and even respectfully question Jehovah.(he was to teach righteousness and justice to the future generations) 3. When the 'angels' arrived at Sodom there were only two and they are no longer refered to as 'men' but are now specifically called angels. the LORD (Jehovah) is no longer with them. 4. Yes, I agree that John 2:23-25 "He Himself" fits with LORD Jehovah (the absolute being) and "I am" as at the burning bush and Jusus used this in Mark 14:61-63 (which explains the extreme reaction of the priest) Yes there is the contrast/parallel The opportunity to turn and receive or reject. Same righteousness and justice. ? Why do you suppose Jehovah chose to share and offer Abraham the opportunity to speak up at this point of time? What is the significance of the covenant? God bless! |

23 | God is everywhere? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73840
God is Spirit, and the Holy Spirit which is one with the Father is moving throughout the earth convicting sinners. John 4:23-24 John 16:8 And when He is come, He will reporve the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement. How does God, by the Holy Spirit (which is the Spirit of God) convict sinners if He cannot go where they are? God is everywhere because the instant a sinner turns and repents, even in the 'red house'or bar, God by His Spirit will instantly save. One viewing the perfect unity of the trinity does not necessarily make a distinction. God bless |

24 | Confirming His Voice? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73841
Is there specific scripture against what you heard? Do you know in your heart that is is wrong? God does not always make 'sense' to us but what He will direct you to do will in no wise go crosswise with scripture. Learning His voice or learning to follow the guidence of the Holy Spirit takes time, and practice. Do not be affraid and it is okey to ask God to give you assurance as long as your heart is to do His will. He understands we are children. Purhaps a word study of 'obey' might help. Does this help? |

1 John 1 Yes ianjon..Satan would have us believe he is all powerfull. We as believers have been given authority over him through Jesus Christ who has all authority given to him by the Father. But he is a cunning liar and we must learn to recognize him. The way to do that is to better know God. The better our relationship with Him is and the better we know Him, the more odvious Satan and his lying demons become! When we walk in the light of the truth of the Holy Spirit, the devil is revealed! God bless |

29 | TATTOOS....yea or nay?? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74337
Actually, Ed, (coming from where you are pointing) I believe the promises AND the moral laws apply. However the fine line of difference which is probably the fine line of debate here, is that God desires us to worship, obey, follow from the heart. Obedience to the letter of issues like tatoos do not correct conditions of the heart. External obedience is not what God seeks. If it were, there would be no need for Jesus. One can obey externally in all the moral laws and still be out of God's will. I would tell someone that scripture forbids it and that they should seek the Lord for the 'change of heart'. But if someone has not matured to that level and has the tatoo anyway, or already has one, condemnation is not in order. They are, after all, His. The direction you are pointing clearly states that FAITH IN and OBEDIENCE TO the word of God is the ONLY way the born again believer can receive anything from God. |

30 | TATTOOS....yea or nay?? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74339
I tend to agree that the context and history point toward pagan worship. However, coming from a bacground of family members who seek after tatoos, the heart was always rebellious toward God. This is not to say all who have gotten tatoos or desire them are demonic motivated, but all I have known were. I believe it was pagan worship then and demonically inspired and I believe it is pagan now and for the most part demonically inspired. BUT...... Each born again believer must make this decision and I would encourage them to seek the Lord in prayer first and ask the Holy Spirit to examine their heart and reveal the motive. Because if God ever said "NO" one should pull back and not randomly say that was then, this is now and that is not relevant to the now. I agree that dress codes are not the basis of our relationship, but the condition of the heart will dictate dress codes to a believer because our hearts will convict us as we get closer to our Father and the Holy Spirit shines His light into our heart. God bless |

31 | Internet to replace church? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74847
Russ, please forgive me if this interjection is inappropriate. I found in my life that when I become (relapse into) selfish having myself in mind and not others, it is easy for me to look to my comfort. ( Too tired for church, other things to do, ect. ) What drives me to go to church is the reality that as I matured in the Lord and realized He wanted me to be a vessel for service. This is in no way vanity. It is the sacrificial giving of yourself as a vessel of service for others. You are placed in that body for a reason and when you are not there, there is a void. When you read Corinthians about gifts, Paul says that each of us is called to in some way edify the body. When I was a child I thought the ultimate joy was receiving. When I grew up I discovered the ultimate JOY is giving! Go back walking through the door praying "God I am here to serve. Use me!" One more thing. I heard a sermon once and the pastor said to unclinch your hand and give God what he is asking for, and leave your hand open for His blessing in return. When we give because we love, we receive because HE loves. God bless |

32 | what is spiritual bondage | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74853
The term 'spiritual bondage' is not in scripture. The closest thing I can find is Romans 8:14-16 For you have not received the spirit of fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Spritual bondage is when our spirit is bound or unable to advance in God's will. There can be physical or mental symptoms of that bondage. The reason I say symptoms is because Jesus has set us free from any bondage we can experience. The problem is, we are either unaware of that liberty or unwilling to walk in it. For the born again believer I believe spiritual bondage can be traced back to our beliefs. The Word says that He whom the son sets free is free indeed. The believer has been set free. But if unbelief due to a lack of knowledge of God's word is present, bondage can remain due to lack of knowledge. Hosea 5:7 An illustration can be my cat. We obtained a kitten at 4 weeks old. That kitten was never allowed out of the house. After she grew up (about 3 years old) we bought a house and she started sitting at the door looking out so we decided to let her out. When we first opened the door, she refused to go out. Why? She still BELIEVED she was bound. Our enemy Satan lies to us and tells us we are bound when in reality we are not. Remember, you are spirit, you have a sou, and you live in a body. Your born again spirit is SUPERIOR to your soul or your flesh, but it must be develeoped in truth, and you must choose to allow your spirit to lead by bringing your body, your mind and your emotions into submission to God's word of truth. God Bless |

33 | what is spiritual bondage | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74864
Hi Searcher..Although I agree that freedom has been bought and paid for in full by Christ Jesus, I do not believe that Christians cannot be in spiritual bondage. While I agree totally that the born again believer has been redeemed from the curse and translated into the Kingdom of God spiritually, our carnal nature still must be trained to walk in that freedom. For instance the born again alcoholic must come to realize he has been set free from that addiction before he will walk in that freedom. The fearful worrier, must come to realize they have been set free from worry to actually walk in that freedom. While one is set free, one may walk (live) bound because it is what they know. This is a process of learning the Word of God which reveals the priveledges and commands of our covenant with God through Jesus. God bless |

34 | what is spiritual bondage | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 75025
Good morning mommapbs.. Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Spiritual bondage of the law was the bondage of the awareness of sin and the keeping of the laws and ordinances looking forward in faith to Jesus, the Seed promised to Abraham, the redeemer. Romans 11:32 Explains it this way.."For God has shut up all in disobedience so that He may show mercy to all." The law brought bondage by revealing that all are sinners in need of a redeemer. Galatians 4:9 But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elemental things, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again? Why after being set free (made righteous by faith) would you want to return to the legal ordinances that were not capable of making you righteous? Many times believers do come into bondage to putting their faith in their works to be the source of righteousness. Ephesians 3:17-21 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever. Amen What do you see? God bless |

35 | are we saved by grace alone? | Bible general Archive 1 | gracefull | 76010
Dear itiswritten, I was reading in the "Complete Jewish Bible" this morning and your post reminded me of what I read.. Romans 10:9-10 that you acknowledge publicly with your mouth that Yeshua is Lord, and trust in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be delivered. For with the heart one goes on trusting and thus continues toward righteousness, while with the mouth one keeps on making public acknowledgement and thus continues toward deliverance. For the passage quoted says that everyone who rests his trust on Him will not be humiliated. (Isa. 28:16) God bless |

To understand completely... to know intimately such as the joining of a man and a woman becoming one flesh. Much different from simply learning 'about' someone. It is a merging of spirit soul and body. A born -again believer can know God intimately and personally. God bless |

John 6:62-63 Suppose you see the Son of Man going back up to where He was before? It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh is no help. The Words I have spoken to you are Spirit and Life, yet some among you do not trust. Yes, our growth once we are born again is progressive, less of me and more of Him, as I come to KNOW the Father intimately comes from the Holy Spirit teaching us the truth of the scriptures. This is a vain debate because it is founded on your statement "One learns or comes to know a fact from information." This is true of carnal things but not spiritual things. No my friend. One comes to KNOW (intimate personal relationship) through the Word and the Holy spirit. No person ever came to the spiritual truth of God's Word through rationalization and study but through the drawing of the Holy Spirit through conviction and the new birth (once one surrenders his life to Jesus Christ as saviour and Lord). To know God intelectually is not KNOWING God. All these 'theologians' are mere men. Some heard truth from the Holy Spirit and some did not, but if we are going to find truth it is between us and the Holy Spirit. Others can teach us intelectually, but only the Holy Spirit can teach us spiritually which is where I come to KNOW. One can compare all the translations of the world and still never come to the Way the Truth and the Life. God bless |
