Ed Part 1 I have tried to manipulate this post into two because it exceeds the limit. Part 2 will apear before part 1 if this works. Forgive me for not being real accurate with this effort. "The reason the people that were righteous before Christ did not go directly to God is they still had unforgiven sin in the their lives." Correct...they still had unforgiven sin because the blood of animals could not redeem them. They died looking ofr the promise...But until the redeemer was provided they were bound by the grave. Hebrews 2 13 And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me. 14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; 15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. "Mediums deal with familiar spirits, demons that know the past and present. They don’t know the future. Satan doesn’t know the future." I would have to say this is an assumption at this point, a common teaching but not necessarily based on scripture because the scripture in 1 Samuel says the medium called Samuel and Samuel knew the future because he states to Saul what he had stated to him in life.. " Why ask me, if ADONAI has left you and become your enemy? ADONAI has done for himself what he foretold through me- ADONAI has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to your fellow countryman David....Adonai is giving Israel as wel as yourself over to the power of the Philistines...and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The reason I see your statement as an assumption is these scriptures clealy say the medium called Samuel and Samuel told Saul.. so odviously this medium did not call a 'familiar' spirit. If we stay with these scriptures in context we have to acknowledge the odvious. In other scriptures concerning mediums, does God say the 'can't' or does he simply forbid asking them? "When Jesus cast out the demon from the demonic they asked to go into the pigs." No doubt Jesus has authority over Satan and He gave us His authority to use His name thus giving us authority. And a sinner when he invokes the name of Jesus in repentance then is born again thus by faith in the promise..defeating Satan. "If they had known the future they would have known the pigs would race of the cliff and die. Instead they thought they were buying time until they could find another body to inhabit." I agree, Satan is not omniscient. He does not know all things. If he had known he would not have crucified the King of Glory..But again, you are speaking to the conflicting belief that the medium called a familiar spirit and not Samuel himself who did know. "When God brought forth Samuel the medium was stunned she had never had a righteous person appear before more importantly she never had any spirit tell the future." This is not what scripture says. "When the woman saw Samuel she let out a shriek." Why? "Then the woman said to Saul,'Why have you deceived me? You yourself are Saul!' This woman was affraid for her life, as she had also stated when Saul first came to her in verse 9. |

182 | What was the answer? | 1 Sam 28:12 | gracefull | 80425
"Secondly you say he was talking to Samuel and Samuel did know. How did Samuel know he was dead? Are you suggesting that God informed Samuel of Saul’s death but never intended him to use that information." Now here you have a valid point. If Samuel had only stated that Saul hadlost the kingdom, he would have been repeating what he already knew before he died. but no doubt God told Samuel that Saul and his sons would die. I also have no doubt that God knew Saul would seek the medium...but I can't accept that God would violate His Word and empower the medium to call Samuel forth. And these scriptures do not state that God called Samuel. It says she called him forth. "You asked why the woman shrieked because she knew instantly that Samuel was from God therefore this had to be Saul who had God’s hand upon him." No, I beliee she feared for her life. It does not say she was afraid of Samuel...Or God.. You never addressed the fact that God did use an unrighteous prophet Balaam to prophesize blessing on Israel. Also please read 1 Kings 13 you will see that God used another false prophet to prophesize truth. It is a very interesting story, one which give you a lot more to think about." I did read both of these today. Never the less they were both prophets...failed and weak though they were...they were not demonic soulmates whom God commanded to be killed as noted in other spriptures and forbade any to seek out as I posted earlier. If God had performed any miracle by any other means other than one strictly frobidden by HIMSELF which would be a violation of HIS WORD I could accept your theory...But if God forbids us to commit sin and then commits sin Himself...He would not be God...That would be the same as commanding us not to commit murder but going out and committing murder Himself and saying it was OK because He is God. My next area of research will be to look at all the scriptures pertaining to mediums and see what else God had to say. God bless |

183 | finding the true mother of a child | 1 Kin 3:25 | gracefull | 89768
Hello Tic 24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. 25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. 26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. Solomon knew the true mother would not allow her child to die. She would lte him go before she would let him die.A mother's love for her child is a sacrificial love. God bless |

184 | What does the tree represent? | 1 Kin 19:4 | gracefull | 82889
The prophet was exhauseted and discouraged. He had been in spiritual battle. He needed time for 'refreshing' from the Lord. Ministry does that. An athlete can't run and run and run without eventually needing to 'refuel'. Our spirits are the same way. We need the Holy Spirit to refresh us in the Word. Jesus went aside to pray often. I do not believe there is any significance to the type of tree, but am open for someone who may have found otherwise in scripture. God bless |

185 | Why was Satan allowed amon the sons of G | Job | gracefull | 73406
Why would God need or choose to prove anything to Satan? Was it because Satan 'accused' Job? |

186 | Why was Satan allowed amon the sons of G | Job | gracefull | 73410
Thanks for your response. Revelation 12:9-11 Is this the time when Jesus entered heaven? If so, the accuser has been cast out of heaven and can no longer go before the throne and accuse? |

187 | Why did Job love God? | Job | gracefull | 73510
I have read but not participated in this discussion until now.... Your honest statement brought compassion. As thomas has addressed the method of salvation, the surrender of our heart as we realize we are sinners in need of a saviour. Was their a change? Not an external change of activities, but a change of heart? If yes.. When we come to the Lord we are children. Our relationship is that of a child coming to the parent for all our needs. Children do not KNOW the parents, but simply accept them as the provider. Then as they begin to grow up they begin to recognize the parent as both provider and disciplinarian. Then they eventually get through this stage to adulhood and begin to have a relationship based on respect and knowing. 1Peter 2:2 Our relationship with our Father is much like that. Initially we see Him as our 'provider' especially at times of trouble. But when we spend time with Him consistently in His word and prayer, we begin to KNOW Him. Many believers remain in childhood for various reasons.. But since you have made this statement, it would seem you have begun to mature. (Awareness of the lack of in depth relationship and awareness that such a relationship is possible is a GIANT step). Will you move forward in seeking Him or draw back? FEAR NOT! He loves you. Remember John 3:16 God bless |

188 | Why did Job love God? | Job | gracefull | 73586
Than you for sharing this with me. I was reminded of Romans 8:25-28 as I read your heart... But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. In the same way the Spirit helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. First, our feelings do not always represent what is going on in our heart. The times I feel far from God only serves to remind me circumstances and my flesh are still temporal factors in my carnal life, but the reborn spirit connected with the Holy Spirit of God is more real and eternal. I am a spirit, I have a soul and I live in a body. Do you pray in tongues? If so, when this grieving comes, pray in the Spirit, if you have not been already...Growth can seem bitter sweet but the joy of the eternal sweet far exceeds the the temporal pain. To allow God to create in us a soft heart makes us feel vulnerable, but in reality it frees us and allows God to become our protector. If you would like, I can give you my e-mail address. 193 | How do I trust Christians again | Psalm | gracefull | 81954
Our faith is in God,and we love one another. When our faith is in Gods we love our brothers and sisters through Him, and not because if the way they treat us, good or bad. When the people praised Jesus He did not take their praise to heart becuase He knew how they would soon turn and cry 'crucify Him'. People should not impact our walk whether it is their praise or their persecution, because our eyes should be on Jesus and following the direction of the Holy Spirit and the Word. God bless.... |

195 | not sober, people | Ps 3:1 | gracefull | 75057
There are probably millions of Christians who are still in bondage to something. You must remember that we are saved through faith in Jesus Christ as savior, not works. Also keep in mind that our ONLY righteousness is Jesus' righteousness provided as a free gift. We as humans are not in a position to judge another's salvation. I suggest if you know someone that you pray for them that if they are not saved, God would convict and bring them to repentance. And if they are saved, that God would reveal to them that He has provided deliverance for the addictions. Worrying about the salvation of another (or worrying about anything for that matter) is fruitless. Prayer is powerful! I hope I answerd your question. The fact is noone can give you assurance of the salvation of anyone! When in doubt PRAY! If you love them PRAY! Prayer is powerful! God bless |

196 | Is Bankruptcy Stealing? | Ps 15:1 | gracefull | 78329
I was there once and God taught me this way. The lesson was very painful, but the reward of obedience has been very great. I found joy and liberty and peace through obedience and personal honesty. Psalm 15 Adonai, who can rest in Your tent? Who can live on Your holy mountain? Those who live a blameless life, who behave uprightly, who speak the truth in their hearts and keep their tongues from slander; who never do harm to others or seek to discredit neighbors; who look with scorn on the vile, but honour those who fear Adonai;WHO HOLD AN OATH, NO MATTER WHAT THE COST; who refuse usury when they lend money and refuse a bribe to damage the innocent. THOSE WHO DO THESE THINGS WIL NEVER BE MOVED. And as you said: Romans 13:8 Owe no man but to love him. Two major lessons can be found in your delima.. 1. A very important eternal spiritual truth is to be learned here. We will never trust the faithfulness of God until we overcome our human nature which is to be unfaithful. 2. Blaming others for our bad choices is a sure way to remain in trouble..IE "This particular credit card creditor charged an unreasonable and unfair amount of interest..".No one forced you to accept or use the card and creditors are required by law to reveal their interest rates up front. the time to make the decision that the rates were to high was BEFORE you committed. The verse in Psalms says the person who swears an oath (your word, signature is an oath) to his own hurt but does not back away learns the price of faithfulness and the reward. I suggest you take all your debt, (actual bills or a list of everything) and place them on the alter (humble yourself before God and repent for you poor stewardship of His provision, and comit to honour your oaths no matter what the cost..second job, third job, self sacrifice. Ask Him for wisdom on how to do this and for the strength to carry you to the end of your committments. If your heart is sincere, God will give you joy and peace as you pay off your debt. The joy wil come from the Holy Spirit. Thus the promise of Psalm 15 You will rest in His tent, find rest on His holy mountain and you will not be moved. You wil become faithful and solid and the enemy will not have any place. If you take the unloving way out, you will find yourself facing more situations of unfaithfulness. Now is a real good time to put your hand to the plow and do what is right. P.S. There are several good nonprofit organizations that will help you by working with the creditors to lower their rates, but the best way would be to just buckle down and handle it. Anything that eases the pain tends to weaken the lesson, and increase thr posibility that you will do it again. God bless! |

198 | special revelation vs general revelation | Ps 19:1 | gracefull | 89030
Mel, I agree with Micodemus in part. Psalm 19:1 is speaking of natural knowledge. How can one not observe the magnificance of God's creation and not come to the realization (mental assent) that there is a creator, God. Spiritual revelation is the Spirit(God's) to our spirit, thus revealing to us the NATURE and WILL of God. Has the Holy Spirit ceased to give revelation? The theory is that once the New Testament was written, there was no longer any need for revelaton. I see that scripture makes no such distinction. As a matter of fact, the Old Covenant belivers for the most part operated without divine revelation, relying on the the law to teach them 'about' God. Hebrews 8:10 speaks of the difference between the Old Covenant believers and the New Covenant believers. "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:" Joel prophesied of this time when God's Spirit would be available to all rather than a few who God chose to reveal His will through. Acts 2:15-21 15 For these men are not drunk, as you imagine, for it is [only] the third hour (about 9:00 a.m.) of the day; 16 But [instead] this is [the beginning of] what was spoken through the prophet Joel: 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon ALL MANKIND, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions (divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams. 18 Yes, and on My menservants also and on My maidservants in those days I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels and [predicting future events pertaining especially to God's kingdom]. 19 And I will show wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth beneath, blood and fire and smoking vapor; 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the obvious day of the Lord comes--that great and notable and conspicuous and renowned [day]. 21 And it shall be that whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord [invoking, adoring, and worshiping the Lord--Christ] shall be saved. Scripture tells us that without diine revelation man cannot KNOW God. It is divine revelation when the Holy Spirit reveals we are sinners in need of a savior. 1 Corinthians 2:10-16 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11 For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, SO THAT WE MAY KNOW THE THINGS FREELY GIVEN US BY GOD, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. 14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ. Indeed, revelation of spiritual things comes only by the Holy Spirit and is absolutely necessary to KNOW God. The continual revelation of Him by the Holy Spirit is how we are being continually transformed into His image. 2 Peter 1:2-4 2 Grace and peace be yours in full measure, as you come to a full KNOWLEDGE of God and Yeshua our Lord; 3 God's power has given us everything we need for life and godliness, through our KNOWING the One who called us to His glory and goodness. By these He has given us valuable and superlativly great promises, so that through them(promises) you might come to share in God's nature and escape the corruption which evil desires have brought upon the world. Revelation is the KNOWING that transforms us. Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. 'Special revelation' is spiritual revealing of God's heart to our heart, and will always agree with scripture. That is how we test the 'voice'. God bless |

199 | special revelation vs general revelation | Ps 19:1 | gracefull | 89148
Hi Tim, "It is my understanding that Logos is the general word of God and that Rehma is the God breathed quickened and empowered word of God." So Logos would be the written word and Rhema would be the Holy Spirit revelation from Spirit to our spirit? The difference being someone who gives mental assent to what the words on on the page are saying somewhat in the same manner one would study history or read a novel, but when rhema comes there is the spiritual connection, the KNOWING God and not just about God. As Job said in Job 42 "I had heard about You with my ears, but now my eye ses You." The LIGHT came on! God bless |

200 | special revelation vs general revelation | Ps 19:1 | gracefull | 89150
Tim, There are differences in the above listed scriptures. Luke 9:44 Jesus spoke to then and told them to let it sink in.. Luke 9:45 They did not 'understand' or they did not 'hear'. Even though they could have quoted Jesus' words and surely understod the meaning of each word, they did not 'hear the message'. John too is a good example: John 8:43 No 'hearing'..just words John 8:47 'Hearing' rhema John 10:19 why do you listen? no 'hearing' John 10:21 spiritual understanding or enlightenment.. John 12:47-47 speaks of the non hearing being judged by the Word... John 1 The Word, Jesus, came as light..the entrance of His truth changes and transforms. The conforming to His Word as mere words or a religion without the revelation of the living Jesus raised from the dead will help one be moral but does nothing to cleans the soul and change the heart and re birth the spirit. Have you ever received a spirtual revelation? Or to put it another way, has the entrance of the Word brought light, then you share it with a friend and they just looked at you as if to say 'so what' or 'what language are you speaking?' You may answer this with a 'no' but let me ask you, When you heard the preached word and were convicted as a sinner and KNEW Jesus was the savior you needed. My friend, is this not that 'revelation' or enlightenment? If not, what would you call it? God bless |
