101 | Take up your Cross ? | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 73404
To take up our cross means.. Submission to the design, plan, purpose of God for your life and laying down you own design, plan, and purpose. Death to your will and submission to His will. This is not a haphazard movement, but a determined focused walk. The scripture says if any man take up 'his cross'. Galatians 2:19-21 God bless |

102 | Which is more important:Knowledge/action | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74879
Circumstances are merely opportunities to apply God's word of truth. James chapter 2 Faith without works is dead.. If we have nothing to apply faith to, no challenge, we do not need faith. The word must be mixed with faith to produce anything so one would be led to believe that the Word is supposed to produce something. Hebrews 4:1-3 Hebrews 4:11-14 The word is quick...discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Summary. The Word of God is spiritual truth sent to 'do' something. Unless it is mixed with faith and acted upon, it is just words on a page. There are bible professors, I dare say, who do not know anything about the power of God because they study the word but are not doers of the Word. The Word is sent to change us, enable us, empower us to be victorious representatives and mirror images of Christ to the world. The purpose of the Word is to show the world (through applying it to circumstances) the love of God. |

103 | I need verses on why we need God's Word. | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 74950
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God and the Word was God. Matthew 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and He cast out the devils with His word, and healed all that were sick: Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. God's words are Powerful- to pull down stongholds and bring deliverance. Enlightening-Bring spiritual light to drive out darkness Eternal-whereas everything in this earth is temperal. Superior- God's words should be our words because they are the only words worth speaking. God bless |

Stephanie, I agree with Ed. The very foundation of our faith began with the revealed truth of the Word by the Holy Spirit..He is the one who convicted us of sin and revealed to our heart the saviour Jesus Christ.(John 6:44)Our very birth into the kingdom of God is due to the revelation and work of the Holy Spirit in response to faith mixed with the hearing of the Word. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God. I am reminded of Psalm 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it. If the house you desire to see built is the transformation from yourself to the image of Christ.. God must build the house. Theological education is of some value, studying other books is of some value by offering us various options of interpretation which can open our minds to posibilities we may not have been able to even entertain...BUT there is only one Truth of scripture. We do not want to fall into this catefory.. 2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning but never coming to the knowledge of the Truth. (I capitalize Truth because I see the revealed mind of God as diety..Jesus said I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life) The Holy Spirit revealed truth changes us from within, transforms us into the Christ like person we are predestined to be. 2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God.... Thus the Bible must be final authority and the Holy Spirit your PRIMARY teacher! John 16:13 ...He (Spirit of Truth)has come, He will lead and guide you into all Truth... I suggest you seek to develop a deep and sincere personal relationship with the Holy Spirit so when you read or hear various teachings, you will be sensitive to the Voice of the Holy Spirit either affirming or rejecting the teachings. He has been sent to be each believers personal guide through life, God WITH us and IN us. God bless |

106 | Spreading the gospel | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 89736
"Thanks. I think one of the main things that keeps me from witnessing alot is a past chock full of hypocrisy and back-sliding, filled with conviction and sorrow, and eventually embraced by true repentance. Through all that, I feel somewhat at a loss to witness to others when alot of my life has been full of compromise. It truly can be a miserable existence. The older I get, however, the more gracious God seems to be to me to let me understand that I don't have to feel condemned by my past, but I do have to do something about the present. And that something is trying to live by the light that has been revealed to me." I understand...remember what scripture says in Romans 2:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; When the accuser comes to intimidate you it may be helpful to remind him that that is what the BLOOD is for. And if others try to accuse you, remind them that that is what salvation is all about..redeeming the unworthy! The more unworthy, the more testimony we have of God's great mercy and grace! Grace to me is like being in the womg conected by the umbilical cord (Jesus) my lifeline to the Father! While in this womb, He is feeding and nurturing me and I am growing...birth will be the deliverance from this body of sin into the face to face presence of my Father! God bless |

107 | release and faith | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 91354
I believe you are correct in your understanding of the term 'release your faith'. Faith without coresponding action is dead faith. In the book of Hebrews chapter 11, the 'hall of fame' of faith as it is called note that every person mentioned DID something with the Word of God. They OBEYED the Word of God and saw God perform miracles in their lives. The ultimate fulfillment, Jesus, however, they did not see in their living years. Faith must be sown to produce, otherwise it is like seed in a package, seed that will never produce. Often we mistake 'hope' for faith. We may hope God will do a certain thing but faith applied to the promise enables the Holy Spirit to produce the result. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. God bless God bless |

I realize your post contains much more than this simple statement...but we have discussed all this in the past and your questions have not changed and neither have my answerw, so I am leaving that alone. but I do have one question regarding the following statement... "But, their faith did not produce the fulfillment of the promises. God did that!" Would God have been able to fulfill His promises in these people's lives had they NOT had faith? God bless |

109 | release and faith | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 91421
That really is the bottom line of the matter is it not? So Abraham would have received a son whether he had faith or not? What prompted him to obedience? Would Noah have escaped the flood had he not had faith in God's Word and built the boat? I would have expected this response from John Reformed. Needless to say, I totally disagree. Faith(that works) in God's promises from Adam and Eve to Mary and Joseph paved the path for Jesus to enter this world. God bless |

Yes, and His WORD is His will. What God SAID He will do. The men of faith were acting in response to God's Words...had they not, His WORDS to them would have not been fulfilled. God indeed does not NEED man, but according to the Word He chose to covenant WITH man so He is bound by His Word. God bless |

"My answer is: Yes, God would have been able to do what He did even if the people did not have faith. God's power and ability are not dependent on anything in man. For example, if the Lord had kept His promise to Abraham throughout the generations based on the faith of the Israelites, they never would've survived as long as they have" Explain this statement scripturally. What promise are you speaking of? The one I see promised his seed would continue forever.. Genesis 15:5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. Acts 13:23 Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus: Romans 4:16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all, The promise to Abraham regarding his seed extended to Christ and then with Christ birthed the body of Christ...both Jew and Gentile who are of faith are Abraham's. "God is perfect and complete in Himself. He needs nothing from man. He needs nothing -- period. If He did, then He would not be perfect and complete in Himself." It is misconception that the WOF teaches that God is not sovereign. I have had lengthy conversations regarding this. The difference in what you are sayong and what I am saying can be summed up in this statement. You say God is sovereign regardless of His Word, and I say God is sovereign through His Word. The Word of God is all we have to base our faith upon...if we base our faith on anything other than the Word, we are subject to great misconceptions of God's nature and will. God states throughout the Bible and especially the New Testament how every move He makes in the earth with mankind is through FAITH. Had Abraham not had the faith to act on the Word God spoke to him, he would not have not been the father of the promise. God would have sought another who would believe Him and act upon His Word. Yes, His will would have been done but not through Abraham... Acting upon God's Word by faith is OBEDIENCE, acting on the Word by faith is OBEDIENCE. God speaks His Word...Do this and be blessed, or do that and be cursed...We choose to place faith either in the promised blessing and step in faith into the promised blessing, or we choose to place our faith in the curse and step into the promised curse. Is God's will fulfilled when we reject Christ? No, scripture tells us it is the will of the Father that all be saved 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Will all of God's prophesies be fulfilled? Absolutely...but God will accomplish it through men and women of faith. The question is...Who will believe His Word as Peter did...when he challenged Jesus "If it is you, beckon me to come". There is a powerful statement here...Peter knew when Jesus spoke a command he would be empowered to accomlish the task...apart from the Word spoken into our spirit by the Holy Spirit and us responding by faith...we can receive nothing from God, and not because it is not His will, but rather because we did act by faith in the Word. Yes Radioman, we are brothers and sisters in Christ and will always be. We are here to grow.. God bless |

Hello fran1946, Thank you for the response. This is a very important topic as all the provisions of the will Christ has given us (the New Covenant) must be received through faith. And as you pointed out..beginning with the new birth into the kingdom of God. Purhaps some have difficulty with the concept of 'receive by faith' because we do not add faith in what or who.. I believe we receive all the promises of the New Covenant through faith in the Word of God which is His will and testament to us, and without faith which works or acts we receive nothing even though it has been provided. God bless |

115 | Do Jesus and Paul agree on salv by faith | NT general Archive 1 | gracefull | 92025
"The bible never mentions "ALONE". If it did it would contradict itself. We are saved when we follow exactly what the bible says to do and be sure not to leave nothing out. See, the church i.e. the body of christ was never set up by men, but God, so therefore the church doesn't save you, it is Christ that saves you." That's law. Following exxactly what the Bible says does not produce the new birth in one's life. The Holy Spirit does that when someone repents and accepts Jesus as saviour. Then and only then can we fulfill the whole law... Matthew 22:35-37 God bless |

116 | Why didn't God make people to love him? | Genesis | gracefull | 74744
Forced love is not love at all. Without choice, one does not know if they really love or not. I may love you, but since I have no choice, I can't be sure. Let me go and see if I come back. He desired children that love Him. |

118 | Searching for the truth | Genesis | gracefull | 91540
I do not believe so. The Holy Spirit is a person, the third person of the trinity. We are spirit beings created in the image of God (Genesis) who is Spirit. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The new birth takes place when the Holy Spirit regenerates or makes alive our dead spirit (seperated from God/ reunited with God equals death and life) Also, when reading the following scriptures in context notice two things. 1. Phillip has preached the gospel and these were saved and baptized BEFORE Peter and John laid hands on them to receive the Holy Spirit infilling. 2. There was odviously some extraordinary orrurance when these believers received the Holy Spirit because Simon wanted to BUY the ability to lay hands on people to receive the Holy Spirit. Notice he did not want to buy the Holy Spirit himself. I say this based on his background. Acts 8:12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. Some points to pray about in your prayer/study time. God bless |
