341 | Examine yourselves! | 2 Cor 13:5 | glory777 | 7308
The biggest thing for me is that I find I am able to see others more in the light of how God sees them. And it is not that I succeed, but that I know I have to try. Forgiving was the hard one for me. But I find, that the more I forgive, the more I am able to forgive. Just having the Holy Spirit there, pricking my spirit, is something that I never had before I came to Jesus.
342 | What is a generatonal curse? | Gal 1:9 | glory777 | 11511
I think today, people would call it "trends" or "bends". Characteristics that are passed down from one generation to the next. Can they be demonic? Where do the nasty things of the world come from? I believe it could be a possibility, but who is stronger, God or the devil? Rom 8:37 "But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us." I know I had a problem with anger and rebellion. Looking back, I see that it was a generational thing. My mother had this, and she got it from her parents. I did not want to pass this on, it was not congruent with being a follower of Christ. I had to turn the problem over to the Lord, repent of the sins, renounce any control satan had over this area of my life. I fould Scripture to counteract these area and used them, as Jesus did in the wilderness. I have seen a change. Others have seen a change. There are times when I am tempted (fewer), but I have the Word of God always with me, and anger does not control me. There are other problems that are "family" problems. Alcoholism, promiscuity, etc. I do believe, that with the power of the Holy Spirit you can overcome anything that interferes with your walk with the Lord. |

343 | What is a generatonal curse? | Gal 1:9 | glory777 | 11553
One of the main things that is going to prevent generational trends, "curses" if you will, is studying and memorizing scripture. James 4:7 says to "Resist the devil and he will flee from you." Do not enter in where temptation is close. It is easy for the enemy to get a little barb in, and if you allow that "barb" to stay there, it can become a foothold and pretty soon a stronghold. One thing though. If you have overcome once, don't be self assured about it that it will never be a problem again. We must stay aware. Do not allow the "hook" to be placed again. It is too easy for a person with a fondness for alcohol who feels they have overcome and been freed to "show up" the enemy by brazenly going where the alcohol is. This pride can destroy the work that was previously done and allow a hook to be set even stronger. This can apply to any sin. But stand strong. Pray hard. Trust God. Debbie |

345 | Catholics and Heaven??? | Eph 2:8 | glory777 | 11179
I believe a Catholic can go to Heaven. But not by anything he can do. Not through baptism, masses, communion or other sacraments can you be saved. No one can pray to get someone else into Heaven. This is a personal decision only the individual can make. If a person, regardless of what denomination they are, realizes their sinful state, repents of it, and asks Jesus Christ to come into his heart, acknowledging that He died for their sins and asking Him to be Lord of their lives will they go to Heaven. That is the being "born again" experience Jesus talks about. Unfortunately, the Catholic church also teaches things that causes the people to lose fellowship (not salvation) with the Father. Among those is praying to Mary and saints. I don't believe that if you are a member of any particular church that it automatically gains you admission to Heaven. You have to have that personal relationship with God that only comes from being born again. |

346 | Muselim Religious | Eph 2:8 | glory777 | 21285
Schwartzkm- The growth of numbers of religions differing from Christianity shouldn't be a surprise. I know that Christianity is spreading at a great pace, also. However, Jesus stated that there would be few that would enter the "narrow gate", and we know that means even those who call themselves Christian but do not know the true meaning of the word. I count myself blessed to be given that faith to receive Jesus as my Savior and it is up to us to show people what it means to be a true Christian - even though we will never be the majority and it may mean all kinds of persecution in these days and in the days to come. Keep walking in faith, brother. Debbie |

347 | type of wood the cross is made of | Eph 2:16 | glory777 | 31508
I read a long time ago as a child, in a magazine, that tradition has it that it was made out of a dogwood tree, which at that time grew very tall and strong. Because the tree felt so bad about being used in that way (for our Savior's death) God changed it's growing habits to be twisted and never usable for that purpose again. It's flowers would have four petals in the shape of a cross with indentations in each to represent the nails. In the center of each would be the part that would represent the crown of thorns and would be ruddy in color for the shed Blood of Christ. I know this is not biblical, but I can never look at a dogwood flower without thinking of the sacrifice our Lord made for me. Debbie |

348 | Pastor's role in resolving conflict? | Eph 3:16 | glory777 | 13091
I agree with all Steve has said, but you must realize that all conflicts can not be settled. If both parties are committed to the unity of the body, there will be a way. If they are unable to come to a reconciliation and it is affecting the church, then a harsher judgement must be made. This is a hard thing. God be with you. Debbie |

349 | Goodbye, Friends | Eph 4:29 | glory777 | 7139
Hank- I'm new to this forum, but I don't think anyone should leave because they feel they have hurt someone or caused dissension. If anything, it would be more valuable to have you stay. By knowing you were in error, you will be more sensitive to avoid it in the future. The Christian community is to be as one body. We may differ on various aspects of God's word, but as long as the main truth is agreed upon, that Jesus Christ is the son of God and is God, one part of the triune God and saved us from our sins, and that salvation comes only by admitting you are a sinner and asking God's forgiveness and Jesus to come inot your heart and be Lord of your life, (sorry about the length), we are brothers and sisters in Christ. Everyone's insight is needed, and if there is some dissagreement, it also causes people to think things through and turn to God for insight. I aggree with the others, don't leave and God Bless you. |

350 | Woman's sin worse than man's? | Eph 5:33 | glory777 | 65624
Sorry, Rabbi Mark- But not onlydoes it sound to me as though Adam passed the buck to Eve, but that he also passed the buck to God - The woman YOU gave me". You have given no proof that Adam wasn't there when Eve took of the fruit and I don't think you can find any, so your assumption that he wasn't there is just as valid as mine if I say he was. No condemnation here, just saying that this may be one area no one has proof of either way. I never thought of the matter that Adam wanted to share whatever Eve would have to face. Good food for thought. But is that rational and you don't have proof for that, either. No one forced it down his throat, it was his choice to choose his mate over God. Question - wasn't he, not only turning dominion of the earth over to Satan by his action, but also, in a sense, turning dominion over to his wife? Should start a war here with this one! Debbie |

351 | Woman's sin worse than man's? | Eph 5:33 | glory777 | 65705
And thank God He did lay down the rule - although the feminist movement would not agree. Some interpret "Your desire shall be for your husband.." to mean wanting to dominate over him, and I think that is probably true. You can't have two heads in a corporation making different decisions and have a company survive- neither can a family have 2 heads making opposite decisions and still survive, as we have seen all too often in our culture. Yet, the "natural" tendency is to take dominion from the husband for so many wives, myself included. Yet what a release when you can turn that over. I think a lot of women don't understand because they have never tried it, it goes against what we have been trained and seems to make our role in the marriage seem less (srchng - yes, I am a woman!)when in fact, it gives us more time and energy to allow us to keep more of our focus on the role God intended for us to have. 352 | Submit . . . unless it hurts? | Eph 5:33 | glory777 | 66618
I differ with you in your opinion that the bible shows hatred for women. Rather, God shows no favoritism. Those who believe are "sons of God", men or women. Jesus used a woman to further the kingdom (the Samaritan woman at the well); when the adulteress was brought before Him, when the others would stone her (where was the man who was caught?)His answer freed her and condemned the others. It is man who added the laws to control women and the culture at that time, and even in this time in some countries who are considered second best. Look in the new testament at all the women that are commended. Each role that God ordained is important, it is the human nature that wants to put some in a lesser position than another. When a man becomes God and can see into the future as to what the result of his abuse will be, then he has a right to abuse his wife "for her own good". Jesus never hurt anyone. The man is to submit to God, he is never told to abuse his wife but to love her. Debbie |

353 | what does the scripture 1 Thes 4:16 mean | Phil 1:23 | glory777 | 44215
muffie- When the rapture occurs, we will not all be dead. The sisters and brothers who have died in the past will have their bodies transformed and leave the graves to join with their souls. Then those who are alive will also join the Lord (their bodies transformed in the process I believe). The Lord created us to have bodies, along with our souls, and I believe He intends for us to have bodies as a complete being, just as Jesus does now, only transformed as His is. Those who are dead and died "in Christ" are with Him, only not their bodies. At the judgement seat of God, rewards will be given. If you read throughout Paul's letters, he talks of crowns. There is the soul-winners' crown, etc. I think these are the rewards that are given and the judgements that are given to those who have been covered by the Blood. Their sins will not be seen for they are not there. Those who have not accepted Jesus will be judged according to God's standard of righteousness, and of course, without the covering of Jesus' blood will be found guilty. Debbie |

354 | proof that Jesus is God | Col 2:9 | glory777 | 27526
Dawn- Another one is Col. 1:16-17. Also John 17:5, 24. He was referred to in the Old Testament many times also. See Proverbs 8:22, 23, 30. Peace in Christ- Debbie |

355 | Satan's Power (2:18) | 1 Thessalonians | glory777 | 10005
God is Soveriegn. Satan can only do what God allows him to do. He is the accuser of the saints (you and me) but thank Jesus for His blood that negates any accusation. Satan can't be all places at once, God is. Satan can't read our minds (although he sure can read body language), God knows every thought we have before we think it. Satan can't make us do anything. He can tempt us, but with the Holy Spirit sealing us and Jesus blood covering us he can never take away our sonship. The evil one can use a bad situation to try to break us, but God will use the brokenness to reveal His strength and glory and show Himself supreme. It may look like Satan has the upper hand at times, but we have to look at the long picture. We have authority over him, and we already have the victory through Christ. If he can fool enough people that he is in control, he thrives on it. He is a liar and the father of lies.
356 | Order of events at the 2nd Coming? | 1 Thess 4:17 | glory777 | 14940
OK all you guys- First of all, I don't think I want to rule. I love horses and I already have put in my application to clean the stables (Jesus will be riding a white horse, right?). Is the horse thing literal or not? If it is, you guys had better learn how to ride, because I think scripture mentions we will all be riding with Him when He returns to show Himself as Lord of Lords and King of Kings and takes over rule of the earth. Love you all- Debbie |

357 | Order of events at the 2nd Coming? | 1 Thess 4:17 | glory777 | 14945
Now, I am going to ask a serious question! The falling away - is this true Christians or those who go to church but don't have a relationship with the Lord Jesus? Because otherwise we are talking about once saved always saved, etc and are going to get into another impossible discussion. My personal take on the immediate end times event is the believers at that time will be taken away, but there is enough knowledge that many who knew but didn't really understand what being saved was all about will find out real fast and then will make a decision. It almost sounds as though only the Jews will have a chance to decide for Christ during the Tribulaion. There are so many people who are church goers that know a little, have heard a little, that if the rapture happens when they see it, they will know that what they had heard had truth to it and will decide for Christ. Or am I reading to much of the "Left Behind" books? Shame on you Nolan! Debbie |

358 | Order of events at the 2nd Coming? | 1 Thess 4:17 | glory777 | 14954
And yet, Ed, I know of people, who when the mention of Christ's returning have told me "I never heard of that". They don't see it as something that could really happen. All they see is salvation as having something to do with going to Heaven of Hell, and then don't realize that it is a heart issue. I think, when they see the people they love, who have told them what is required and they and other "fanatics" who have believed the same way are missing, they will know the truth. They know a little, but not all of the truth. Debbie |

Now we're going to get into mythology?! Pegasus, yet! It's bad enough I'm allergic to horses but now you have to go with feathers (I'm worse with them!). Debbie |

I also believe that the 144,000 who will be witnessing will not just be for the Jewish people. When you love Jesus, you don't just love a certain people group. Gentiles, I'm sure, will not be excluded from their witness. Nowhere does it say that the witnesses will be just from those in Israel, we have Jews in all parts of the world. Peace- debbie |
