81 | How do I make sense of the context? | Acts 8:13 | cwade | 69869
Greetings brother Ed! I suppose I could respond to your question by saying... "Yeah! what Joe just said:-)!!" But you probably wouldn't let me get away with that. So, I'll do my best.. I pray for the lost, my brother, because Scripture commands it. Do I understand why a Sovereign God wants me to pray for those He already knows will or will not be saved? Nope. I just do as I'm told. Now... you said: "We should be praying that God will bring His Holy Spirit into their lives to convict them of their sins and someone to tell them of Jesus, opening their eyes to the truth". My dear brother, if God can override someone's "free will" and change their heart, and open their eyes "a little bit" why can't He change their heart a whole bunch? Merry Christmas to you and yours brother. In Christ's Love, cwade |

83 | How do I make sense of the context? | Acts 8:13 | cwade | 69990
Joe -- I have a question for you. (Please keep in mind that I am only 2 years old in Christ and still spiritually immature, but have a tremendous desire to learn). Intellectually, and in my heart - after careful study, I agree with your position on predestination. I was wondering if the issue has ever been approached from this perspective: We are adoptive children of God, correct? Isn't it true that adoptive children are chosen by their parents and not the other way around? Thanks for taking the time to respond. cwade
84 | Unforgivable sin | Romans | cwade | 66787
Hank, I am striving for a more mature understanding of the Bible. I'm sure that many of these disagrements on points of doctrine are really just contrasting sides of the same truth. Maybe we should all try to reconcile the differences between what appears to be contradictory doctrine by searching for a way to better understand both sides. For example, on this issue of baptism; Is it Required for salvation: NO. But a true believer out of love for the Lord and a desire to please Him will always be baptized. Does this not make the point moot? Am I right in this way of thinking?
85 | Does God think negative thoughts. | 1 Cor 2:16 | cwade | 86220
I just want to add a comment to this thread from Jeremiah 29: 11, “For I know the plans (thoughts) I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” God does not think negative, harmful thoughts about YOU. His thoughts are good - and full of hope (expectation) for you! |

86 | Don't associate with Christians who sin? | 1 Cor 5:11 | cwade | 84653
HELP! I am having trouble reconciling two verses. I have 2 friends who both claim to be Christians. Both say they were saved at age 12. One is a Homosexual male, the other is a married woman engaged in an adulterous affair. In 1 Corinthians 5:11, Paul says: "But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler--not even to eat with such a one." But in the book of James, he tells us to turn our brethren from sin, and to do so covers a multitude of sins. How can I "turn them from sin" if I am not to associate with them?
87 | Doubt their salvation? | 1 Cor 5:11 | cwade | 84661
Itiswritten: Thank you for your reply. It sounds as if you doubt the salvation of my 2 friends. I have always been very cautious about doing that. I do pray for them continuously, but I have not been praying for their salvation (they insist they are saved), but for their full repentance and return to fellowship with the Lord. Please clarify for me; do you doubt their salvation? In Christ, cwade |

88 | Doubt their salvation? | 1 Cor 5:11 | cwade | 84672
Yes, this was helpful, thank you! I will keep loving my friends yet hating their sin. And I will continue praying that God's will be done in their lives. In His Light, cwade |

89 | Does God REQUIRE new believer to divorce | 1 Cor 7:24 | cwade | 66179
If a non-believer has been through three divorces, then remarries a fourth time, and AFTER the 4th marriage both he and his wife get saved and both REPENT of their prior divorces - are they then required to divorce? What if the divorce would hurt their three small children. Does God really want that? Didn't he forgive and FORGET their past sins including the divorces?
90 | Does God REQUIRE new believer to divorce | 1 Cor 7:24 | cwade | 66182
GOD BLESS YOU JOE!!! It is so nice to encounter someone who embodies the truth of God's love, God's grace and God's mercy! Sadly, many "Christians" have tried to tell us we need to cause heartache, devastation and destruction in our lives, and the lives of our children and get divorced because we are "living in sin." I would not want to be a part of a "religion" that really required something like that! God has blessed us and our marriage so much. He has answered all of our prayers and we both feel the constant presence of His Holy Spirit working in our lives. In our hearts we knew those "Pharisee and Saducees" who said we should divorce where wrong. They were damaging our faith! God bless you brother, you have "set us free". Now, are thee any children of God out there who disagree with Joe?
91 | Does God REQUIRE new believer to divorce | 1 Cor 7:24 | cwade | 66215
Beautiful, Biblical answer Hank. Thank God for believers like you and Joe. I was starting to wonder if there were any out there.
92 | Children at the Lord's Supper? | 1 Cor 11:27 | cwade | 69276
Should children be allowed to take communion? How can we know when our children are ready?
93 | Children at the Lord's Supper? | 1 Cor 11:27 | cwade | 69314
Thank you Joe. I agree completely. The Scripture you quoted (1 Corinthians 11:27) makes it clear that to partake of the Supper wrongly is serious business. And since one must understand in order to confess, and because "a man ought to examine himself", (1 Corinthians 11:28) I don't see how young children would be capable of this. Self examination requires reason and power of reflection that I don't believe young children possess. In Christ, cwade |

95 | Co 2 : 5-7 | Gal 5:25 | cwade | 66311
Training ourselves to have more disiplined faith includes: prayer, meditation on the Word of God, fasting, confession, solitude(listening to God), and hungering for the Word of God. A word search on any of these words/phrases will produce good results. I believe this training must begin with a request that God strengthen us in each of these areas.
96 | What is the "fullnes of God"? | Eph 3:19 | cwade | 68870
Colossians 2:9,10 For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]. The "fulness" of God can be found only in Christ. Through Christ, we have all the fulness of God available to us. |

97 | Memorization technique (along w/ prayer) | Col 3:16 | cwade | 86238
I have recently begun memorizing SUMMARIES of Bible chapters (along with my individual verse memorizations). For example, I am currently memorizing the book of John in this way: Chapter One: The Deity of Christ, The Witness John, The Word Made Flesh, The Testimony of John, Jesus Public Ministry, First Converts. Chapter Two: Miracle at Cana, The First Passover, etc. I have found this really helps me with context and with being able to quickly locate particular verses. Being new in Christ, I just wanted to share this with other new Christians. I'm sure my more spiritually mature brethren have been using this technique for a long time. Any other Bible study tips any of you have would be helpful!
98 | Confess sins as unbeliever to people? | James | cwade | 86935
Is there a verse (or verses) in the Bible that say: once we have accepted Christ and repented of our sins before God that we must then also go to everyone we sinned against (while we were unbelievers) and confess our sins against them and ask for their forgiveness also?
99 | Does God lead us into temtation? | James 1:13 | cwade | 66314
Does God lead us into temtation? If not, why did Jesus pray: "Lead us not into temtation"?
100 | "Age" of our resurrected/glorified body? | 1 John 3:2 | cwade | 67018
Age of our resurrected/glorified bodies? Does the Bible address (in any way) the "age" of our resurrected bodies? For example if an infant dies at 2 days old, when it's body is ressurected is it resurrected as an infant? Note: This is not an attempt to reopen the so-called "Age of Accountability" issue :-)! |
