And we are his witness of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey Him. When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counel to slay him. Acts 5:32,33 |

22 | But What is it? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24572
I read from the Kings James Version and the word unknown IS in the text. coop1

I assumed as much when you asked. coop1
24 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24551
I thank you for your comment, but I am not so sure we all have the same goal. It seems that others here are just as gulity of needing to be right as I may be. I have backed everything I said or could. If I am trying to force anything, it is truth. And that is not for my sake alone, but for all of us, but more importantly...for God's sake. coop1
25 | But What is it? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24550
I heard a story once about a cafateria. The guy was going down the line and he saw many different kinds of food all laid out nice and pretty. And then he came to this one plate that was all chopped up and brownish purple. And he asked the lady behind the counter, "what's that?" She explained that was already chewed food, for people who didn't want to chew their food...jus stick it in their mouths and swallow it. My point being, that sometimes we just have to go to the Word ourselves and do some good old fashion chewing. My advice is, just go to the word and discover your truths there. I am not going to engage in another argument with someone who probably hasn't even read the recommended passages. While there is a place in there, in the upper room, where the tongues they are referring too is actually many people speaking in eacth others language...there is also places in the bible, which I have pointed out a couple times now...that indicate that speaking in tongues is actually a heavenly language. Respectfully, coop1 |

26 | But What is it? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24547
No I do not, because the bible clearly says, "For he that speaketh in an UNKNOWN tongue speaketh not unto men but unto God." (1 Corinthians 14:2) French, Spanish, ect...are all KNOWN tongues. And the bible says, he speaketh 'NOT' unto men, but unto God. coop1 |

27 | What are you numbering? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24546
Well first, speaking in tongues is the one area that I am unsure of. Some say that it is a gift given to only some...others say that it is a sure sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. And there are verses in the Bible that would support both these veiws. I can only tell you what the spirit has spoken to my heart. And that is...in Acts chapter 8:12-17... When Phillip was preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were all baptized. (This to me says that they heard the Word with their hearts and became baptized in the living water). Now then, the apostles heard that Samria had received the Word of God, they sent Peter and John: who when they went down, prayed for them that they may receive the Holy Ghost: (for it had not yet fallen on them: only they were baptized in the name of Jesus)...so this indicates that they had heard the Word and believed, but had not yet received the Holy Ghost. Then the apostles laid hands on them, (and prayed), and they received the Holy Ghost. So this indicates to me that we have a two part process here...the receiving or believeing of the Word of God, and the baptism or filling of the Holy Ghost. Now, Jesus had said in Acts 11:16, John indeed baptised with water; but you shall be baptised with the Holy Ghost. In Acts 10:43-46, while Peter spoke the words concerning the remission of sins, the Holy Ghost fell on the gentiles, and they began to speak with tongues and magnify God. In 1 Corinthians 14, It clearly states that those who speak in an unknown tongue, speaks not to men, but to God...and then goes on to explain that this is done for the edifying of oneself, and that he'd rather us all speak with tongues, but that prophecy is greater because it edifies the whole body of Christ. Now, I believe that becoming born again is a two part process. That we hear the word first, when we believe on it...we become baptised in it or in another words...in the living water. But then, there is a time, for us to grow maybe, or to show our willingness to obey the word of God...and then the Holy Spirit comes upon us and that is when we receive the power of the spirit to do the works of God. And I think that tongues is a probable manifestation of this second baptism...but not necessarily always present. Tithing...that's easy...God gets first fruits of everything, including our financial assets. I believe that 10 percent is exceptable but there is no limit. And war? well I appreciate your advice, but I will not let it go. It is to important at this time. We must find the truth according to God's will and teach it. People's, including Christian's immortal souls may count on it. We have to know how to respond to something that will soon take center stage and even has begun to already. It is too important to drop because a few want to act childish. Let me know what you think of those verses, I will be interested to hear your answer. coop1 |

28 | What are you numbering? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24516
Martha, They are numbering my responses, because they have taken it upon themselves to attack me. I have received a lot of e-mails thinking it was an answer to a post or a comment and it was only a number. They have tried, judged and convivted me of being rude and arrogant...I guess because I do not agree with their outlook on Christians and war. Pay it no never mind...that is not why we are here. We are here to discuss the word of God...Please pick a topic. coop1 |

31 | How do we respond to war as Christians? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24501
Hello, I am coop1 and I would refer you to Matthew 10:14. For this is about where I find myself. I agree with you and it seems we are in the minority. People are now saying things like, "DAH" to my responses. Anyway, I know we should not be engaging in this war. This is the only year of my life I ever voted. You know why I voted? I voted to keep Bush out of office, because I knew with a capital K this was coming. I told my husband, I have to vote...I see war in their faces. I feel a little like I am in a dream...you know the kind where you try to scream to get someones attention...but the harder you try, the less noise that comes out? They just can't hear you. What makes God's people think they must take part in the killing and mahem of this world? or condone it? Don't answer...I know. Well, it was nice chatting with you. coop1 |

32 | Where is your faith? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24495
I beg to differ, war is only political on a surface level...underneath, war is a battle between good and evil...just like I have been saying all along. Careful...your Godly love is showing. :-) coop1 |

33 | Where is your faith? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24491
So be it...but you still have not shown me where this war against terrorism is anything more than a political ploy. coop1
34 | But What is it? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24489
1 Corinthians 14:2 (KJV) For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. |

My point that you don't seem to understand after 27 postings, (according to you)...is that we should not engage in war as Christians. That is the post that you responded to and that is why I mentioned it in my response to you. My son is not in the Army, he is in the Air Force and knew full well why he enlisted because we talked about it in length before he enlisted. Of which, this discussion has nothing to do with. Thou shalt not commit murder, is the main biblical back up for my opinion and the fact that Jesus did not teach us to strick back at our enemies, but rather to love our enemies, which makes us different from the heathen. He further gave us a spiritual armour to take up in our war against the rulers of darkness and of evil...which are our true enemies. I am not so blind as to not see that we are lucky for having lived in a free country...but I am also not so blind as think that our country will escape the wrath of God because of it's sins. The terrorist killed 6000 American people in September. Americans kill thousands of Americans everyday through abortions, murders and 100 other ways. The freedoms we fight for are not all good Hank! Some are down right evil! I just think before you formed your negative opinion on my postings...you should have actually read THROUGH some of them instead of picking out a few words and then attacking me. I am on the side of what is good and right and most of all...seeking God's truth in this whole mess that we as a world have managed to get ourselves into. You attacked me Hank. Without clear understanding of my point..you attacked me. I guess old habits die hard. coop1 |

I suggest you read 1 Corinthians 14:1-15 and Acts 10:43-46... Let me know YOUR opinion after reading about it in God's word, ok? coop1 |

39 | Where is your faith? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24476
We are called to be seperate from the world. While we walk in it...our hearts are to be in a different place. Just the fact that you agree with the unbeliever about this matter...would cause me to wonder. coop1
40 | How do we open eyes to truth? | Deut 7:2 | coop1 | 24474
Exactlty Martha! This whole thing, every situation and circumstance is leading up to the fulfillment of God's plan, which we know, at least in part...is to do away with evil once and for all. We can not stop it, terrible things are coming upon this earth. The wrath of God coming upon the wicked. We are now feeling the beginning of birth pangs I believe. But what we can do is adhere to God's word and trust in Him. Why are people having such a hard time with that Martha? Why is it so hard to believe that if you trust in God...all will be ok. We do not have to add to the chaos, nor should we...at least in that respect. We do not have to live by the sword, or in fear or in darkness. Why do they think they must fight and mame and kill as the heathen do? I am having a hard time with this one Martha. Thanks for listening coop1 |
