21 | Can a woman divorce man: Ongoing porn? | Matthew | bandaid | 212645
Great answers Cheri! I also noticed as I was quoting Matt 5:28 it generalizes men lusting after women. I had to laugh just a little realizing that did not mean we women can lust or view porn of men and it's not mentioned...in that scripture anyway. Yes to brains, it's just there are so many differing views and ideas on scripture that it really matters to take it all back to the original texts and understanding of that time and era. It is very exciting to focus on some of these questions since God asks us to meditate on His Word, that is really where all of lifes answers are, in my opinion. God is the Mighty Counselor. This is the meat I am hungry for. |

That wasn't the question. lol! Maybe you should reread it. Although the answer to this one Cheri and I came up with. You're right, what was all the hubbub! Simple enough question, simple enough answer. You guys are the ones who added all the rabbit trails and hubbub. I simply asked you all to stay focused on the questions. To sit and fester on how you would kill these people you hated day after day fantasising every detail. Any difference between hating and being angry, or fantasising/dwelling on the varied details of the murder while you continually stab a pillow. There is a difference. No-one said anything about prison or mans laws. The questions are all concerning Gods laws. Now you are being nasty. Hello, If I wanted mans definition, I would have gone to the dictionary. And this site is for __________.(StudyBibleForum)If I wanted Yahoo!Answers I would have gone there. I'm simply quoting the bible, what Jesus said. Jesus said quite clearly it was adultery. porneia. But seeing this is what you came up with, I'll accept that as being your best shot. Thanks. |

Is there any hope for a man who CHOOSES not to get help... through the power of prayer (and fasting?) Is there any hope for a man unable to get help due to indwelling spirits...through the power of prayer and fasting? The ideas I linger with: is the point a man gets to with pornography the opening of doors allowing evil spirits to take over his life as I would believe the bible would clarify, and I tend to agree more with. and how much plays the role of physical stimulation and mental habits of a man addicted to porn affecting the dopamines that require him as an addict to get more, when he comes down in his depressed state. I trust biblical knowledge over psychology. I beleive God can free us from anything He chooses. Does He choose to free this man is a question. |

24 | Can a woman divorce man: Ongoing porn? | Matthew | bandaid | 212663
Awesome, Keliy! Thank you so much for your insight on this and the scriptural texts. This sin can lead to so much pain, denial and depression in a man, he is unable to lead a normal life outside of superficial activities. A woman can forgive her husband and walk with him through all his trials, but he has to be willing to put aside his own pride and unforgiveness to focus on himself and get the help he needs before she can walk it with him. When a man is in denial, and won't get help, there is little you can do. Or is there? I believe in the power of Gods Word. But I don't want to live in my own denial of his freewill. Which is stronger...or will overcome? |

Konichiwah Justme, Matt 5:27-28 Mark 10:10-12 In these verses it specifically addresses the mans right to divorce a woman under the grounds of adultery, but it does not specifically say, a woman can divorce her husband. Is a woman biblically allowed the right to divorce a man under these grounds (porn as adultery) or does she have to seperate and wait for her husband to divorce her? |

26 | Can a woman divorce man: Ongoing porn? | Matthew | bandaid | 212670
The original question: ""Matt 5:27 "You have heard that it was said, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY'; Matt 5:28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Mark 10:10 In the house the disciples began questioning Him about this again. Mark 10:11 And He *said to them, "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; Mark 10:12 and if she herself divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery." In these verses it specifically addresses the mans right to divorce a woman under the grounds of adultery, but it does not specifically say a woman can divorce her husband. Is a woman biblically allowed the right to divorce a man under these grounds (porn as adultery) or does she have to seperate and wait for her husband to divorce her? That was the original question. And my only request. There were many awesome and inspiring verses given as help from many people. But the question was specific relating to the male and female forms used in the text. Many of the verses people gave had absolutely nothing to do with the question as much as something supposed to be used as inspiration for the circumstance they supposed I was in and they were offering help on. I tried several times to make it clear I was fine...I needed answers to the original question. Very few people answered the original question, and that was really all I needed and asked for. I did NOT ask assistance with verses for my heart, or counseling, or support groups, or pastoring. Simply the question: Is a woman biblically allowed the right to divorce a man under these grounds (porn as adultery) or does she have to seperate and wait for her husband to divorce her? After that it was mayhem to simply ask everyone to focus on the original question. In which Cheri was able to. |

Believe me I have tried everything. He has at his disposal Christian counselors that specifically deal with "Sexual Brokeness" or awesome websites or mens support groups. He refuses to get invloved in any of those as he feels he can do it on his own. The "on his own" has lasted a good 4 years now since my discovery with no change whatsoever. Only worse. My feeling is that other areas such as pride, denial, forgiveness and shame need to be addressed first. I cannot do any of that for him, and I and my children are no longer in his home. I can only share with him from time to time, but his feelings are like eggshells. It is best for me to stay away as much as possible. All I can give is prayer about the areas I see he is struggling in. How much prayer is enough? God give me wisdom in what I do say. In what i ask for. Give me strength to face the reality of this situation wherever that leads. I love my husband enough to want him free even if it means without me. And at this point I don't even know who he really is anymore. He does seem to be possesed at times and it is scary to see such a talented man who knows compassion so far from who he was and now is becoming something I don't know. Can prayer and fasting set him free? I hope so. I don't care what anyone else thinks about this, if an agape type of love for someone is the reason behind fasting and praying I don't think there is any other better use for faith in it. |

28 | Demon posession or Personality disorder? | Mark 5:15 | bandaid | 211859
In various scriptures, Jesus comes in contact with people who are possesed or have demons. The signs are different, but in a few cases, they display signs of what psychology today would label with personality disorders or mental disorders. Such as the man in the tombs in Matt 5:1-20. My questions are did Jesus ever send anyone to get herbs or anything to help their dispositions, or did he simply see they were deomonically oppressed and cast out the demons? Is there scriptures that back up anything about psychology such as going to counselors or taking drugs? I don't want to offend anyone that feels they need drugs to survive whatever medical or mental situation they are in, but I believe more people could be healed if they were delivered from the demons that are opressing or possesing them. I just want to know what the bible says about it all.
29 | Personality disorder or demon possesion? | Mark 5:15 | bandaid | 211886
OOps. I meant Mark 5:1-20 Not sure about the ability to cast out demons?? I'd say that is outlined in several areas, and you are not sure? Let me ask one specific question at a time. Please do not answer if you don't know, so someone who does can. As far as Christs ability to cast out demons, the sign the man in the tombs presented by tearing his chains and gnshing himself with stones (cutting?) and screaming, perhaps was schizophrenia? Anyway, today most people would lock him up and give him Prozac or something. My question is, does anyone have any other proof in the bible that personality disorders are linked to demons or can help me with this study? Please leave this as an open question if you don't know. |

Thank you all so much for your knowledge on this subject! Yes, it all helps very much and again thank you. I am new to the forum, so I still have yet to understand the use of notes and scripture additions to correctly submit my questions and follow up notes. My question was intended for disorders and not medical conditions. I realize many disorders are treated with drugs, and wondered if there was any biblical evidence of herbs being used for the same purposes. I have read each follow up note on my questions and am very thankful for the time all of you have given in your submissions. I will read the book mentioned in one note/answer. |

Thank you for that input! Yes, I read that complete interview. It can be found at the website from that new Christian based movie that is getting so much attention about a firemans porn addiction. (For lack of being able to say the name).
32 | Personality disorder or demon possesion? | Mark 5:15 | bandaid | 212546
Jeff, Thank you and the rest for your patience with me. The questions come up as the person I am relating questions to is a liscensed Counselor, and a born-again Christian from what I know. They attended a few Bible universities as well. I cannot understand how someone with a clear understanding of psychological disorders and a knowledge of scripture can fall to a level of such a stronghold in their life and not do anything about it, knowing the severity of the level. My only idea is that it is a stronghold, although I do not know what scriptures here I can add. It brings to mind several questions relating to Christians having any possibility of having demonic possession. And if there is any hope that fasting from others can help lead to overcoming the freewill or possesion they have. |

33 | Porn in spouse overcome thru fasting? | Galatians | bandaid | 212554
Matt 17:15-21 In this scripture it points out that a lunatic was demon possesed and released only through fasting and prayer. Man has freewill to do what he pleases. Freewill may be different from lunacy depending on the circumstances that led to the lunacy. Can freewill be overthrown if it is a sin that may be oriented through strongholds? How do we know if a sin such as pornography addiction is a spiritual stronghold? Is it just a learned behavoir that has affected dophamines in the brain, a spiritual stronghold, or both? |

All of these sites and things are helpful,...to someone WHO WILL go to them or listen to them or open up to them. When one party will not get help that leaves few alternatives. That is where the questions on fasting and freewill come into perspective.
35 | Porn in spouse overcome thru fasting? | Galatians | bandaid | 212610
Some things just make sense. Does God act upon things if we do not ask? Then why pray? I believe Gods will is that we pray for His will to be done, but He wants us to be specific and not just utter up generalities. Should we just pray the Lords will be done everytime we pray and not ask for what we specifically hope for or need? If God lays something on our hearts after vast time in prayer, we should pray that way. Jesus states that the man was freed from lunacy only came about through prayer and fasting. Not just prayer. Was the lunacy because of sin, or a birth defect? Gods will is that we accept the freewill of His blood offering to wash away our sins. That we Glorify Him. That the Truth sets us free. I have to believe that God wants my husband free from porn and glorifying Him with his gifts whether it is with or without me I have already come to accept. That is a simple enough request. Would it be wrong for me to want my husband free for our childrens sake? Or want him free to safely and intimately celebrate our maritual committment? Or more? Knowing Gods will and how to pray more for someone, comes as we pray. If it were a onetime utterance, persistant prayer would be meaningless. The complication isn't so much what is Gods will, but how to pray specifically. After a period of time in prayer, is it Gods will someone doesn't get help, it isn't God's time yet, we haven't prayed rightly, or is freewill the end result? |

I am not questioning the effectiveness of prayer and fasting, but why some issues needed fasting over other issues that just needed prayer. Was the lunacy from sin, or a birth defect? Do you know anything about mental health? It sounds to me like you are only making assumptions and not really taking time to think or pray about what you are saying. Is it just the faith that was needed to pluck up that tree, or does it also have to be Gods will? Does it say that? How does "asking amiss because of my own lusts" have to do with a loved one who is struggling in sin and denial? Are you trying to tell me I am asking amiss and that is why my husband is still in bondage? That MY faith is the reason my husband hasn't sought help? You are picking and choosing verses that are of no relation and sound like you are picking ones to be spiteful to me particularily. You have not said anything helpful or related. You are coming off to me as mean, judgemental, condescending, unloving, controlling and like you don't really know what you are talking about. I would like to be nice, but you are harassing me and not addressing the real questions. |

Thank you, I will do that. Sigh... I appreciate you guys not trying to go over everything I may or may not be doing right, but simply addressing the questions I have. They are difficult ones I have asked of even too busy professors, that is why I am now in a study forum.
38 | Porn in spouse overcome thru fasting? | Galatians | bandaid | 212621
There are many threads on the questions I have asked and responded to. The other question is concerning women divorcing men. Yes, I have had more than enough support in my life for quite a long time concerning all the issues involved. I am in many good hands of support, inspiration and accountability. My husband is not. I am not there. My children are not there. I can do nothing about what he does at this point and wish to know only the best way I can pray for him. He needs much prayer or the struggle he is in will only continue downhill as I have seen the negative progress it has made in just the past 5 years. Please pray and feel for him, he is in great denial, bitterness and a stronghold. |

To clarify the question: If the lunacy in this man was from sin such as opening various unhealthy spiritual doors, was it only by the power of prayer AND FASTING, that the demonic spirits in him were CAST out, if that was the case? Or is it was a medical condition from his birth that was only HEALED by the prayer AND FASTING? If someone is driving down the road ready to take their own life by steering into a tree and they sense something grab the wheel and steer them clear, was it the freewill in them that was OVERCOME by Gods power to testify of His glory... or because they were not thinking in their right mind at the time, it was truly not by their freewill that they would harm themself? Were they come over by demonic spirits that lead them to that state of mental instability to steer into that tree and Gods mercy (by the prayers of the saints/fasting??)interceded? |
