621 | First rain and first rainbow | Gen 9:13 | azurelaw | 183124
Thanks, Mark for your answer. It helps. I also bear the same view as yours. By the way, it also mentioned that a river flow out of Eden; could it be possible that the water source of the river came from rain? (of course this is only my guessing) Shalom Azure |

622 | God put the bow in the sky | Gen 9:13 | azurelaw | 232227
Dear Esther, Welcome to the forum. Not everything in the Bible is symbolic or bears any hidden meaning. Red in the rainbow is one of the many colours it consists. However, rainbow is a sign God puts in the sky for remembering His covenant with Noah that He will not destroy the earth with flood anymore as you have read in chapter 9. Shalom Azure |

623 | Who was the first drunk in the bible | Gen 9:21 | azurelaw | 192793
Dear brownisugar, According to the record, it should be Noah. (Gen 9:20-21) Shalom Azure |

624 | confused about Noahs son | Gen 9:22 | azurelaw | 209625
Dear Rick, I see WOS has given you sound biblical reply. Please understand that the context of Gen 9:22 does not support your argument in association with Lev 20:11, 20. Shalom Azure |

625 | Ham, Noah drinking wine | Gen 9:22 | azurelaw | 233304
Dear EdB, First let me explain that I do not endorse drunkenness nor nakedness. They are, as Bible says, foolish and wrong indeed. But here, in this narrative of the Noah's time - ancient history where there was no 10 commandments or the Torah, was drunkenness and nakedness regarded wrong AT THAT TIME? Or are we using our standard to access what actually not there? Note that God has explicitly given certain commands (Gen 9:6), but nothing about drunkenness or nakedness. I always find this narrative interesting. As modern people, we do know drunkenness is foolish and nakedness is wrong. But when I put myself in the time of Noah and considering the Bible is silent on this by then, I believe the focus is more on Ham's wicked behaviour toward his father's nakedness. Shalom Azure |

627 | Noah's Curse | Gen 9:25 | azurelaw | 201672
Dear loyal, Welcome to the forum. I hope the below commentary helpful to you. Shalom *** ...There is a clear correspondence between the activities of Ham, Shem, and Japheth and the curses and blessings which follow them. Shem and Japheth honored God when they acted together to preserve the honor of their father. Ham dishonored both his father and his God by relishing the humiliation of Noah. So Ham was cursed and Shem and Japheth were blessed in cooperative unity. The problem which must arise from the cursing of Canaan is this: Why did God curse Canaan for the sin of Ham? Beyond this, why did God curse the Canaanites, a nation, for the sin of one man? The explanation which best seems to answer these questions is that the words of Noah convey not only a cursing, and a blessing, but a prophecy. While it is true that the sins of the fathers are visited on the sons, this is only “to the third and fourth generations” (Exodus 20:5). If this principle were to be applied, all the sons of Ham should have been cursed. By prophetic revelation, Noah foresaw that the moral flaws evidenced by Ham would be most fully manifested in Canaan and in his offspring. Knowing this, the curse of God falls upon the Canaanites because of the sinfulness Noah foresaw.104 The emphasis thus falls upon the fact that the Canaanites would be cursed because of their sin, not due to Ham’s. I think this explains why Canaan is cursed and not Ham, or the rest of his sons.... - Bob Deffinbaugh (http://www.bible.org) |

628 | witnessing to church going homosexuals | Gen 9:25 | azurelaw | 202853
Dear Teriberry, If you are sure that he admitted himself as Christian, it would be advisable that you invite him to join you to study the bible together. To show that you care for his spiritual growth. Let God's Words do all the work instead of relying on our wit and effort. Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Don't forget to pray for him and yourself that the Holy Spirit works in both of you for the glory of God. For more about homosexual issues, you may make use of the search function on the "advanced search" box by typing "homosex". Shalom Azure |

629 | witnessing to church going homosexuals | Gen 9:25 | azurelaw | 202904
Dear jeremy, Welcome to the forum. First of all, I want to state that I am not against a person who is homo but I am against homoseuality. We should love homos the way as other unbelieving people. Modern days, even within the christian circles, we exercise love in the way that we are blind to the truth. That is a sad and dangerous thing. Both are needed. You said: It is time we made another adjustment... Adjustment of what? Are not the churches nowadays endorse marriage of homos? Isn't it a significant sign that we have compromised too much? Shalom Azure |

631 | HOW DO YOU KNOW HE NOT A BELIEVER | Gen 11:6 | azurelaw | 200379
Dear Irene, You said: WHY EVERY TIME I GIVE MY ANSWER OR ? TO THE FORUM YOU PEOPLE TAKE IT IN STRIFE ... I read of your above accusation in several of your posts. Kindly please be assured that no one on the forum intends to give you a hard time. I am a Chinese living in a Chinese society (you might want to check on my profile for knowing me more). English is definitely not my native language. People around me usually don't speak English though most of them can. So, when I post on the forum, I will try my best to keep my message as clear as I can. At the same time, I would also consider at least 2 measures within the communication : 1/ Misunderstanding can always happen, an open mind for questions or even challenges with biblical ground should be anticiapted. 2/ You said it correctly, no one knows everything, we are here to learn. Therefore, through learning and interaction with one another, we can also be corrected. That's why I am not only anticipating challenging questions but also embrace them so that I can study His Word more diligently (2 Tim 2:15). I see quite a number of your posts with the statement "...IN THE BIBLE ITS SAYS I DONT REMEBER WHERE BUT IT SAY...". Like you, I always forget the exact verse but just can remember the general idea. However, only grasping the idea vaguely is not enough and could be misleading too, we have to search the Bible and study the verse within its context for its correct meaning. Remember when satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he also quoted scriptures (Mat 4:1-11), but out of its context. What a good demonstration it is to us that taking scripture out of the context is a remarkable tool used by satan to lead us astray! I hold high respect to see how you expressed your love towards our Lord in your profile. You are very much welcome to study with us together on the forum. We also show our love to one another and toward our Saviour when we handle His Word rightly. Shalom Azure |

639 | show me 2 question and answes? | Gen 14:12 | azurelaw | 193735
Dear Sunitha, Your question is not a question and it is a little bit strange. Is it an exercise? We can propose hundreds of questions with answers based on a chapter, but is it necessary or sensible to do so? :-) If we have questions, we will post ours. If you want answers, please give us a specific question. That will be a lot easier for members of the forum to help. So, what exactly is your question? Shalom Azure |

640 | Tithing before Mosaic Law | Gen 14:20 | azurelaw | 217725
I believe this should be the first account in the Bible recording the 10 percent tithing. The second one is recorded in Gen 28:22. Both were not yet set in the Mosaic Law. Question: 1/ Was giving 10 percent a common practice in the ancient time? 2/ Under what condition was it exercised before the Mosaic Law? Thanks and Shalom Azure |
