Not sleep yet? or at work?, God's day to you, Cheri. Ah, perhaps you've got the point. :-) Shall we propose to Lockman to issue a user manual to help new comers' familiarising their postings on the forum? Anyway, sometimes the trial and error is the best teacher. :-) Shalom Azure |

2064 | Desire for GOOD? | Hebrews | azurelaw | 180546
Brother CDBJ, Your words are touching indeed. Yes, Jesus - the silent Lamb, could be silent no more at the moment when he was forsaken by God his father for our sin. How could we understand! How could we understand! I always have a kind of mixed feeling during Christmas and Easter. Partly joyful (for we are saved and reconciled with God through Jesus) and partly grieved for how Jesus has suffered for us - sinners. We - Chinese, have a saying like "Your pleasure and happiness should not be in the expense of other's misfortune and grief" How ironically is that our hope and salvation is totally depended on Jesus' suffering, death and resurrection. Jesu, joy of men's desiring... Shalom Azure |

2065 | Saved or not ? | Hebrews | azurelaw | 188887
Dear Brother Lionheart, Have you noticed an interesting thing that the layout of your posts are just the opposite of brother Hank's. While yours are full of broken statements which I hardly read them in the flow of paragraphs, Hank's are putting all the statements in one big paragraph. I know that Hank cannot separate his post with paragraphs for some technical reasons. Do you have the same problem as Hank's? :) Shalom Azure |

2068 | more about driving out demons | Hebrews | azurelaw | 193328
Dear BerBer, Welcome to the forum. You have responded to a post that was long time ago dating back to 2001. I doubt you will get an answer from the poster you are responding to. Meanwhile, can you elaborate more on your question as your responding poster was quoting a parable of Jesus' which in fact reproving the Pharisees. (Matthew 12:43-45) It was not a real case of driving out demons. Shalom Azure |

2069 | how do you see the "rest of God" Heb.3-4 | Hebrews | azurelaw | 201065
Dear holyours, What is your "understanding" on it? or Which part do you not understand? It would be helpful that you could elaborate your question. Our view is not important. (2 Tim 2:15) Shalom Azure |

2070 | how do you see the "rest of God" Heb.3-4 | Hebrews | azurelaw | 201069
Dear holyours, To be brief, I would quote a part from John Gill commentary as below for your reference: "Verse 3. For we which have believed do enter into rest,.... Not eternal rest; all believers shall enjoy this, and they only; but this is not now, or at present enjoyed, unless things future may be said to be present, because of faith in them, and the certainty of them but spiritual rest in Christ under the Gospel dispensation, which is a rest from the burden of the law of Moses, and from all toil and labour for life, and salvation by works, and lies in an enjoyment of much inward peace of soul, notwithstanding the world's troubles and Satan's temptations; and such who believe the word or Gospel preached, and Christ in it, not with a general and historical high, or only in profession, but with the heart, and in truth, these enjoy this rest; they are kept in perfect peace, and have much spiritual ease and comfort: this character distinguishes them from the unbelieving Israelites of old, and from present hypocrites and formal professors..." I would recommend you go to the below link for the full commentary as I strongly believe they are helpful for your understanding of the chapter. http://eword.gospelcom.net/comments/hebrews/gill/hebrews4.htm Meanwhile, I think Matthew 11:28-30 is in better harmony with the "rest" talked about in Hebrew 4. 2071 | Reason Paul might not be Hebrews author? | Hebrews | azurelaw | 207490
Dear Sandie, Welcome to the forum. You may try the below link for other scholarly research. http://eword.gospelcom.net/comments/hebrews/gill/hebrewsintro.htm However, I, personally tend to think Paul is the author. Nevertheless, the original author is God :-) Shalom Azure |

Dear Sandie, May God bless you and all the members in your study group with the Holy Spirit englightenment. Ps 19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. Ps 119:11 Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. Shalom Azure |

Dear SOG, Oh, I think you must have misunderstood my intention here in answering your "same" questionS with "duplicate question". I apologize for the misunderstanding occurred. So, let me explain. Since I see you might have sent your question 3 times by mistake (well some new users even sent the same question 4 or 5 times or more) which will occupy the main primary question page a lot of space, it would be necessary to "clear up" those duplications for obtaining enough space for the benefit of other new questions. I would not clear up all the duplications if none has been answered. So, you can see that your question (post 207696) has been answered by Cheri (207697). That was why I clear your other duplicated questions with good intent for the forum, other users and you in order to avoid confusion caused by various threads created under the same kind of question. So, if what I have done is somewhat you call it "technical obvious observation", then, yes it is :-) But I need your understanding base on the reason I stated above. Shalom Azure |

2076 | feel like god is always hurting me | Hebrews | azurelaw | 229281
Dear klamert64, Since we do not know what is/are the problems(s)/difficulties you are facing, and neither is the forum an ideal place for providing counselling, it would be much beneficial to you if you could talk to your pastor or elders or mature Christians in your church. However, I would offer the below scripture for you to meditate on:- Hebrews chapter 12 1 Peter chapter 2 Shalom Azure |

2077 | Jesus being refered as the word | Heb 1:2 | azurelaw | 202519
Dear hokey, Our host the Lockman Foundation has provided us the fuction for checking cross reference bible verses. In your case, you may type John 1:3 onto the "get bible text" box for search. It will show the verse in bold face. On the left hand side of the verse, you will see "I" (means verse information). Click on it then the verse will be listed with strong's number and the explanation at the bottom. You will also see the cross reference verses if it is available. As to your 2nd question, the scripture I suggest is Mat 4:4, Deut 8:3. Hope the above helpful to you. Shalom Azure |

2079 | need information on galatians Chapter 6 | Heb 3:12 | azurelaw | 209100
Dear sheltona, Welcome to the forum. I believe V14-15 in chapter 5 is helpful for our understanding of the passage you are in question. Gal 5:14 For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another. Note that in previous chapters, Paul reproved the Galatians' returning to legalism instead of keeping their faith in the complete work of Christ's atonement. (Gal 1:6, 3:1) Now Paul talked about how to deal with weak believers who sinned in Ch 6:1-6. He admonished those who were spiritually matured (i.e. walk in the Spirit - ch 5:16) helped the sinning brothers (to recover from their sins) in meekness and with gentle heart, but NOT condemning others thus fall into the temptation of being boastful or self-righteous. For verse 2, "Love one another" is the commandment of Christ (John 15:12). We have to care about each other as believers are the body of Christ. When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it (1 Cor 12: 26). When helping the sinning brothers, one should also examine oneself as well for we also have our own weaknesses. Hope the above helpful. Shalom Azure |
