1984 | What scripture describes a leaders role | 1 Tim 3:1 | azurelaw | 180101
Dear houstonc, I would like to suggest the below scriptures for you. 1 Timothy Chapter 3. In fact, Paul talked a lot concerning leadership in his letter to Timothy. You may be interested to read both 1 and 2 Timothy. Jesus also made a note for those who wanted to be the greatest (leader) in Matthew Chapter 23, verse 11 to 12. Hope the above helpful to you. 1985 | standards for a preacher/biship | 1 Tim 3:2 | azurelaw | 187736
Dear ystallings, Welcome to the forum. When I am following the thread to read those posts, I have come across with Kalos post #171996 titled with "The Issue is Not Marital Status". Maybe you should take a look as I find it very helpful (at least for me). His post has clarified the questions I have in mind for years. I always feel sad about my brother who got divorced (Let me skip the details. It was not about adultery, he had tried his very best to secure the relationship, but could not change the mind of the woman) a year after being ordained as pastor. Following this is another strike, he was forbiddened to teach at his own church (for his divorce) where he grown up and loved so much. After years of struggle for recovery, he remarried to another woman (I believe she is sent from God). A very devoted and mature Christian. I thank God for sending him this blessing. Shalom Azure |

1986 | A divorced choir conductor cannot serve? | 1 Tim 3:2 | azurelaw | 192265
I know the topic of divorce has been discussed a lot in the past. However, my quick search on the subject seems could not find me something relevant to the situation. Does this overseer also apply to choir conductor? Are we to terminate the choir conductor's ministry due to his/her recent divorce despite his/her most willingness to serve? Shalom Azure |

Sorry that I clicked the "note" button by mistake while this is in fact a question I wanted to ask. |

1989 | father without a job | 1 Tim 5:8 | azurelaw | 238153
Dear berry, I have to agree with EdB that scriptures have no specific answer to your question except a number of it deals with laziness as EdB has quoted. However, since the world is so much complicated, there is always situation that the father is forced to be unemployed and unable to get a job or serve as food provider and the burden could be on the wife shoulders. The couple should discuss how to plan their family instead. I met a Christian couples who are good example. They have two boys and one is diagnosed Epilepsy. Since the mother has a much secure job, the father decided to stay home for child caring. Apart from taking good care of his children (including Bible teaching), the father has participated in some charity volunteer, led Bible study group, not ceasing to pray for their children. Now, the boy has much improved and the father is back to the workplace. He has never lost his leading status/role at home. I see how they have been trusting God and God's blessings has never ceased to pour onto them. "...whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31b) Shalom Azure |

1990 | Why so some people treat pastors poorly? | 1 Tim 5:19 | azurelaw | 202873
Dear jweave, It is sad to see this happens at church. There are a number of verses talking about love among brothers. So, this also applies to pastors. In 1 Timothy 5:17 specifically mentioned that believers should have high respect to their ministers. 1 John 4:19-21 James 4:11-12 Hebrew 13:17 Col 3:12-17 Philippians 2:1-8, 14-15 Eph 4:1-16 1 Cor 1:10 Rom 12:9-18 Shalom Azure |

Dear Talchapy, Kindly withhold your anger. (James 1:19-20) Please re-read the terms of use of the forum where there is a guideline about proper "quotation" from other writers. Brother John just wanted to remind you about that, otherwise, our negligence could cause troubles to our host - the Lockman. Shalom Azure |

1995 | Understanding being saved. | 2 Tim 2:15 | azurelaw | 177998
Dear Liliesofthefield, Your example is interesting, but can you provide biblical examples to elaborate the understanding of sins attributing to Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit? I guess the example you put here is a made-up one not a factual one, thus I have reservation in agreeing to such explanation. I would be glad to see your scriptural based examples to clear the same doubt of mine. God bless. :-) Azure |
