Dear looking, I don't mean to be argumentative. Perhaps I might have misunderstood you. Could you please explain what do you mean by the below statement you made in post 207935? Did Jesus break the law? If He did, which law did you mean here in the context of your post? --- Jesus did break or allow the law to be broken. --- Thanks and Shalom Azure |

Sorry that I forgot to include this scripture: Mat 10:19-20 "But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. "For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. Shalom Azure |

1945 | Choir prophesying | Col 3:16 | azurelaw | 179228
Are these part of the system applying in today's Sunday worship at church that: verse 2: for the section of teaching and bible reading? verse 3: for the choir? Both have the function of prophesying, are they serving different aspects as to the kind of prophet we know in OT? If choir prophesy, it is a very interesting attribute to let the choir member know of it. It is because I always want to spare some time with them to share the spiritual message of the hymn during our rehearsal. It would be very convincing for me to talk to them on such arrangement. Thanks for your biblical guidance. Azure |

1946 | Who was Mark | Col 4:10 | azurelaw | 222261
Dear joycedorman, I suppose you mean the author of the Gospel of Mark. Church tradition consider him John Mark, Barnabas' cousin (Col 4:10), closely associated with Peter (1 Peter 5:13)thus penned the Gospel of Mark. No scriptural record shows that he was called by Jesus nor he had any special gifts. He failed Paul in his ministry and caused argument between Paul and Barnabas (Acts 15:39). However, he should have been restored later and Paul commended him (2 Tim 4:11). |

1947 | is masterbation bad | 1 Thess 4:3 | azurelaw | 208543
Dear Roots, 1 Cor 7:9 The question you answered was in 2005 and the poster is no longer active after posting 3 questions on that same day. However, I would like to give some feedback to your note that it might not be practical for a person who is still waiting for the right mate but is burning with physical desire. I think the below hints provided by John MacArthur are helpful to a bachelor christian who is facing such a difficulty: Number one would be channel your energy through physical work and spiritual service. Redirect yourself to good physical work and spiritual service. This gives your energy an outlet. Secondly, don't seek to be married, seek to love and let marriage come as a response. People who are always wanting to get married will marry the wrong person more often than not. But people who are seeking to find the fulfillment of love will marry the person they've fallen in love with. Don't seek to get married... Seek to be loved and to love, not to be married. Don't worry; marriage will take care of itself. Thirdly, let go of a sex-mad adulterous world. And what I mean by that is watch what you absorb of the system. Fourthly, program your mind with divine realities ... program your mind. It's amazing, but your behavior is a direct result of the programming of your mind with divine truth. Fifth, recognize that for now God has chosen for you to live without sex and recognize this, there's no temptation that has taken you but such is as common to man, God is faithful, will not allow you to be tempted...what? ... above that you're able but will with the temptation make ... what?...a way of escape that you may be able to bear it. Sixth, avoid potentially dangerous situations. That's like Joseph, he just ran. Seventh, thank and praise God for the state you're in and be content. You have to approach it from these standpoints. "How could God command you to marry and not provide a partner? But, listen to me, people, if you're not the right person, you'll never meet the right partner. That's the whole key. If you're not the right person, you'll never meet the right partner. So instead of looking for the right girl, start being the right man. And, girls, instead of looking for the right man, start being the right woman...and then the right man will recognize the right woman." Shalom Azure |

1948 | COping with death in today's society | 1 Thess 4:13 | azurelaw | 193435
Dear Erick, Paul has affirmed the believers in the church of the Thessalonians with great comfort. 1 Thes 4:13-18 v 13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. v 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. v 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. v 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. v 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. v 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. Shalom Azure |

1958 | Why not braided hair for women? | 1 Tim 2:9 | azurelaw | 215221
Dear humility, While I agree to the central idea you wanted to convey, I still find you have stretched a bit too far: "Paul was not against the plaiting of the hair like we do today..." I am sure Paul has no idea what the women and the world would be like today :-) "They would wear expensive, tight-fitted and skimpy clothing as well." Could you please provide scriptural reference for the above as I might have missed it? Of course God sees the heart and hidden part of a man, yet, a person's dress code denotes certain message he/she wants to express silently :-) Shalom Azure |

1960 | Dress code for women | 1 Tim 2:10 | azurelaw | 229117
Dear Bluemusic, Welcome to the forum. Though most people would say 1 Tim 2:9 (However, putting on accessories or fashion wearing could vary from culture to culture and age to age. It would be difficult to draw the line.), I think v10 should be heeded with much weight for this is what pleases God and beneficial to man. Please read the verses within its context on Paul's teaching. Shalom Azure |
