1910 | How to determine demonic posession? | Eph 6:13 | azurelaw | 221492
Dear MWL (if you are still there), I truly hope that you understand what I intended to guide you. Sometimes, it is not about getting a direct/straight forward answer to your question or not, it is the question itself already problematic or it reveals the false concept behind the question such as this. Here is how I view your question: - it is not possible to truly know someone on the internet, needless to say determining if he/she is demon possessed. - what does the Bible teach about defending our faith? (read 1 Peter 3:15 and study the scripture in its context) - evangelism is to proclaim the Gospel, the Truth. We are only the sowers, but the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts and changes people's heart (read Jesus's parables of the sower). - when it comes to willful person rejects the truth, see what Jesus teaches in Mat 7:6. - does it matter in evangelizing that we should determine whether the person is demon possessed or not? (John 10:4, please read the whole chapter in its context) Let me ask you, while interacting with atheists on the internet, have you considered the above scriptures? OR, while you are quoting scriptures, have you studied them according to its context for proper understanding and application? How much or how well you have equiped yourself with the Word before engaging yourself in the debate? That is why I quote you Eph 6:11-17. May you be blessed with God's gracious Truth. Shalom Azure |

1911 | Spiritual Warfare | Eph 6:18 | azurelaw | 223148
"Prayer brings us to the throne of grace for Christ’s resources against our spiritual enemy. Through it God grants us wisdom to discern, strength to stand firm, protection from spiritual harm, and grace to press on. Prayer as a weapon of spiritual warfare seeks the face of our Lord against an enemy that is strong, crafty, subtle, resourceful, and relentless. Such prayer is wielded in faith — faith that knows, trusts, relies on, and serves God. God has not left us alone to face the foe but has enfolded us into the company of His people where we find community in Spirit and camaraderie in mission. We need the fellowship of the brethren to watch our backs, to encourage us in battle, and to urge one another on to abide in Christ lest we grow weary and lose heart. " "Spiritual warfare is not something extraordinary, but ordinary to life in a fallen world and much deserving of study. It is conducted in weakness that seeks God’s strength, in wisdom that applies God’s truth, and in obedience that serves God’s kingdom. Through it, the Spirit matures us in Christ and advances Christ’s cause in this world." -- Stanley Gale |

Dear Tiffy312, It is quite possible that Tychicus brought the news to Paul in prison. See chapter 6 verses 21 to 22. Hope this is helpful. Shalom Azure P.S. Did you also register under ASMITH since you are asking the same question almost at the same time? |

1913 | In prison how did paul get news | Eph 6:21 | azurelaw | 194308
Dear Tiffy, Thank you for your clarification. What a blessing it is to have a companion studying the bible together. Hope both you and ASMITH enjoy the forum. Psalm 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron's beard, It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing--life forever. 1914 | Request for lyrics | Philippians | azurelaw | 186812
A week ago, I watched a film in HK called "The pursuit of happiness". There was a scene that the main character attended a service at church where a choir was singing something like : Lord, a mountain is in front of me. Please O Lord, don't remove the mountain, don't remove the mountain. But to give me strength to cross it. I like the lyrics. It is encouraging, for most of the time our fist reaction in face of difficulties will be running away. Can anyone provide the full lyrics of the song or the source for me to access it (if it violates the copyright regulation)? In order not to violate the terms of use of Lockman, I have the below quote of scripture: Matt 17:20 And He *said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. Thanks for your help. Shalom Azure |

1918 | How to humble my self as a little child | Phil 2:3 | azurelaw | 194847
Dear Donald, Welcome to the forum. God speaks to us through His Holy Word - the Bible. (2 Tim 3:16-17) That is why the apostles urge us to study diligently God's Word. (2 Tim 1:13-14, 1 Peter 2:2) In concern with humility, Phi 2:1-8 is good for us to ponder. Matthew 18:1-16 relate to your question directly. I believe the below commentary from Matthew Henry is helpful: "The importance of humility. Verses 1-6 Christ spoke many words of his sufferings, but only one of his glory; yet the disciples fasten upon that, and overlook the others. Many love to hear and speak of privileges and glory, who are willing to pass by the thoughts of work and trouble. Our Lord set a little child before them, solemnly assuring them, that unless they were converted and made like little children, they could not enter his kingdom. Children, when very young, do not desire authority, do not regard outward distinctions, are free from malice, are teachable, and willingly dependent on their parents. It is true that they soon begin to show other dispositions, and other ideas are taught them at an early age; but these are marks of childhood, and render them proper emblems of the lowly minds of true Christians. Surely we need to be daily renewed in the spirit of our minds, that we may become simple and humble, as little children, and willing to be the least of all. Let us daily study this subject, and examine our own spirits." (by Matthew Henry) Shalom Azure |

1920 | salvation | Phil 2:12 | azurelaw | 207832
Dear dcmartin, I think AMP version on the verse could be helpful. Here it reads: Phil 2:12 Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). Shalom Azure |
