345 | The Hubris Moral Perfectionism | Job 22:29 | azurelaw | 226202
Dear Brother Doc, Wow, thank God for J. C. Ryle. 1 Cor 13:12 "...we see in a mirror dimly..." comes to mind (excuse me for taking it out of context). Isn't it interesting that people will usually regard the image/vision being seen through a softly veiled lens perfectly beautiful and spotless (as is the method used in photographing)? By creating such an illusion, most people are willingly and happily deluded. Shalom Azure |

349 | Carry the whole Tabernacle or the parts | Lev 6:13 | azurelaw | 226132
How could they keep the fire burning on the altar in the Tabernacle? Were the Israelites required to carry the Tabernacle and the burning altar (inside) the whole journey? However, in Numbers 10:17 it said that the Tabernacle was taken down. What does it mean by "taken down" in that context? I am puzzled at how they were moving around with the Tabernacle (set up) and burning altar inside. Your help is much appreciated. Shalom Azure |

350 | On what aspect it is enough | Rom 10:10 | azurelaw | 226119
Dear EdB, Thank you very much for responding and I am sorry for my late reply due to being pretty much occupied for the Chinese Lunar New Year Holidays. As I have stated, my concern is that we must preach the whole gospel despite the patient (who has never heard of the gospel) seemingly die in the next second. For we really don't know how much time God gives him. If he belongs to God's Elect, I am sure God will prolong his life till the full message been preached...it is His Time, His Way afterall. We are just His vessel required to be faithful and loving. Concerning the thief on the cross next to Jesus, though the gospel record shows that Jesus had not preached the full gospel to him on the spot, yet, from what the thief said in Luke 23 (confess of his sin in V40-41 and put his trust in Christ in V42), I think it reasonable to surmise the thief heard about Jesus and His preaching before. Please do not read me as being argumentative or seeing highly of myself in preaching the Gospel. I just worry that while we are so passionate in preaching the Gospel, we (unintentionally) want to buy time for God and "think" we are more zealous than Him that we waterdown (making it not so offensive) the message for getting the person "saved" [In other word, wouldn't it be too arrogant to do so in that we do not rightly handle His Word?]. Hope I have made myself clear. Shalom Azure |

353 | Scripture dealing with depression | Jeremiah | azurelaw | 226024
Dear eklmattke, Well, this is a study Bible forum. So, if brother Doc's "opinion" (as you termed it) is in line with the scripture and demonstrates a sound exegesis, this is not just some mere "opinion". We must be careful when we post our reply in public especially when we deal with God's Holy Word. (please reread the TOU of the forum) My feedback to your earlier post 226012 which you said "...because they are comforted knowing that God has plans and a future for them", : May I ask What kind of a plan or future that God has if the person is NOT a believer? Shalom Azure P.S. Most of the time we ignore the most needful lecture just because we do not request it. (Prov 12:15) |

354 | being christ like not taken advantat of | John 16:33 | azurelaw | 225942
Dear lidiagg, Our Lord sent the Holy Ghost - the comforter, to help, strengthen His Own. Most important of all, Christ always reigns and He will not leave His Own without equiping us with all the necessary gifts and power and strength to fight the good fight for Him. Read John 16 and set your hope and mind on our Lord and Saviour. Shalom Azure |

357 | On what aspect it is enough | Rom 10:10 | azurelaw | 225843
Few days ago, I had a dialogue with a brother on a situation that when it comes to the critical moment or time that the full gospel message (God, Christ, men, sin, God's wrath and justice, saving grace and faith, repentance and eternal life) cannot be preached to a dying person who has not heard of Christ nor is aware of sin, the most important thing is to get him to believe and profess Christ as his Lord and savior. This should be enough to get him saved. Now, my point is not on the dying person side that whether he/she ultimately saved or not, for this is solely of God's knowledge and will. My discussion would be on the messenger and the message part. Should we just REDUCE the full message as such even though we "consider" the dying person will stop his breath on the next second and we need to fight time for him? Most people might think we can rely on Romans 10:10 to justify the situation. However, I would hope when we say "believe and you will be saved", we should consider scriptural support PLUS the context of the scripture when it is used. Your thoughts (kindly please provide scriptural support for discussion)? Thank you Azure |

358 | Does God create some people evil? | Prov 16:4 | azurelaw | 225828
Dear Yendor, I think you might be looking for Prov 16:4. In short, the verse is talking about God's sovereignty. However, please don't just read a verse or two to draw your conclusion and then make hasty application. Read the whole book of Proverb to know what the purpose it is for according to the background of the Israelite's history. 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. May you be blessed with your hardworking. Shalom Azure |
