1901 | explaining Jobs friends to kids | Job | azurelaw | 190104 | ||
Dear Mainzy, I am not sure if I can help you. I am pleased to offer what I have learnt (in general) concerning Job's friends after my reading of the book. 1/ Job's friends were very sincere (comparing to nowadays people) to Job. (Job 2:11-13) 2/ They were self-righteous (see their conversation with Job). By that, even their motives were to help Job, but just brought more pains and hurts to him. Proverb 25:11 Like apples of gold in settings of silver Is a word spoken in right circumstances. 3/ They misinterpreted or did not understand God. That is a sin. (Job 42:7) Hope the above is helpful when you try your way to help the kids. Shalom Azure |

1902 | what are 3 meanings of LOVE | Romans | azurelaw | 190102 | ||
Dear kkstone, Welcome to the forum. I am curious to know why do you think there are 3 meanings of love in OT and NT. God is love. Roman 5:8 But God DEMONSTRATES HIS OWN LOVE (I capitlize it for emphasis) toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Please read 1 Cor 13 and Roman 5. I hope I have answered your question. Shalom Azure |

1903 | Who wrote the book of Chronicles? | Ezra 7:10 | azurelaw | 190100 | ||
---Quote Early Jewish tradition recorded in the Talmud ascribed the authorship of Chronicles to Ezra. Modern studies of the linguistic differences that exist between the Books of Ezra and Chronicles have led some scholars to reject this ancient view(1). Internal evidence suggests that if the writer was not Ezra he was probably a contemporary of Ezra. It is very common today to speak of the unknown writer as 'the Chronicler'. (1) E.g. Sara Japhet, "The Supposed Common Authorship of Chronicles and Ezra-Nehemiah Investigated Anew." Vetus Testamentum 18(1968):330-71 ---Unquote Source: http://www.soniclight.com/constable/notes/pdf/1chronicles.pdf Shalom Azure |

1910 | Isaiah 40:1 | Is 40:1 | azurelaw | 190074 | ||
It sounds a bit odd to me when Isaiah addressed "says your God" which gives me the feeling that he is not part of the Israelite and "God" is not his God (he looks like an outsider). I have also checked the prior chapters and found this is not the usual way of speaking in Isaiah's proclamation or prophesies. 1/ Is chapter 40 written by Isaiah? 2/ Was it only an emphasis by using "your God" that Isaiah wanted the Israelite to be affirmed with their relationship with God? Thanks you. Shalom Azure |

1913 | Searching for the truth | John | azurelaw | 190021 | ||
Dear Rick, Well said, brother. I have just found the below notes in accord with your comments. ---- 14:14 If ye shall ask any thing [this is not carte blanche] in my name [in harmony with His will and His word], I will do it [cf. Jn. 15:16; 16:23]. Note: Praying “in Jesus’ name” is not the recitation of a magic formula or secret password but rather the recognition of who He is, what He stands for, and what He would seek to accomplish. We must ask only what Jesus would ask and by so doing bring glory to the Father. source: http://www.bibleteachingnotes.com/templates/System/ Shalom Azure |
