1743 | Why is witchcraft bad? | Ex 20:3 | azurelaw | 193510
Dear Andrew, I am sorry that I did not express myself in a straight forward manner. I am not saying you are plagiarizing anyone's work or question. My such question was intended to draw your thought on your question : A friend told me it's ust satan's copy of what od can really do. So isn't a coy of something good still good? The issue is not copying something out of something that is good will still be good, what Satan does is to plagiarize (in some sense) and steal the credits and honour of our most high God. He wants to be God. That's why I quoted Ex 20:3 for your reference. And with your agreeing the unlawful behaviour of plagiarism, you have answered your own question instead. :-) Hope I have explained it clear. Shalom Azure P.S. Glad to learn that you are upto the age requirement. Keep posting so that we can learn together. Hope you enjoy the forum. |

1747 | COping with death in today's society | 1 Thess 4:13 | azurelaw | 193435
Dear Erick, Paul has affirmed the believers in the church of the Thessalonians with great comfort. 1 Thes 4:13-18 v 13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. v 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. v 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. v 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. v 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. v 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1749 | lying spirit? | Luke | azurelaw | 193403
Dear yonder--, A belated warm welcome to the forum. Thank you for providing us with your background. Do you know that there is a user profile function provided by the Lockman for us to fill in our personal information that we want to disclose? This serves us with the advantage that we can read about the user's background whenever it is possible and available. By the way, you said : "...NIV is a major revision with many INTERESTING (caps for my emphasis) new notes by J Kohlenberger III...", my concern is on your comments about "interesting" and I hope what you meant is inclusive of biblically sounded thoughts. Hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

1751 | DICIPLES BELIEVED jESUS TO BE | Matt 16:13 | azurelaw | 193356
Dear ava, The below should answer your question. --------------- He enquires what their thoughts were concerning him; "But who say ye that I am? v. 15. Ye tell me what other people say of me; can ye say better?" 1. The disciples had themselves been better taught than others; had, by their intimacy with Christ, greater advantages of getting knowledge than others had. Note, It is justly expected that those who enjoy greater plenty of the means of knowledge and grace than others, should have a more clear and distinct knowledge of the things of God than others. Those who have more acquaintance with Christ than others, should have truer sentiments concerning him, and be able to give a better account of him than others. 2. The disciples were trained up to teach others, and therefore it was highly requisite that they should understand the truth themselves: "Ye that are to preach the gospel of the kingdom, what are your notions of him that sent you?" Note, Ministers must be examined before they be sent forth, especially what their sentiments are of Christ, and who they say that he is; for how can they be owned as ministers of Christ, that are either ignorant or erroneous concerning Christ? This is a question we should every one of us be frequently putting to ourselves, "Who do we say, what kind of one do we say, that the Lord Jesus is? Is he precious to us? Is he in our eyes the chief of ten thousand? Is he the Beloved of our souls?" It is well or ill with us, according as our thoughts are right or wrong concerning Jesus Christ. 1753 | more about driving out demons | Hebrews | azurelaw | 193328
Dear BerBer, Welcome to the forum. You have responded to a post that was long time ago dating back to 2001. I doubt you will get an answer from the poster you are responding to. Meanwhile, can you elaborate more on your question as your responding poster was quoting a parable of Jesus' which in fact reproving the Pharisees. (Matthew 12:43-45) It was not a real case of driving out demons. Shalom Azure |

Not sleep yet? or at work?, God's day to you, Cheri. Ah, perhaps you've got the point. :-) Shall we propose to Lockman to issue a user manual to help new comers' familiarising their postings on the forum? Anyway, sometimes the trial and error is the best teacher. :-) Shalom Azure |

1759 | understanding the book of revelation | Revelation | azurelaw | 193256
Dear Janice, The Book of Revelation has caused a lot of controveries in dicussing the end time events. There are some schools of thoughts developed. However, I do not fall into any of the categories. May I offer my below approach to the study. 1/ The genre of the book : letter with recipients (the 7 churches) 2/ Background of the readers, e.g. contemporary christians under tribulation. 3/ Historical background by the time John wrote the book. 4/ John's usage of symbolic concept from OT books (e.g. Exodus, Ezekiel, Daniel, Isaiah, etc) 5/ John's purpose of writing the book - comfort, strengthen and encourage the christians who were under tribulation by that time, rebuke the wrong doings of the churches (see the letter to the 7 churches), prophesying, etc. 6/ The layout of order. Contrasting the chaos on earth with the orderly worship in heaven. Message to the contemporary suffering christians : God is sovereign and in control. He will judge. We should persevere and endure to the end. First death is our physical death. Second death is for the unrighteous being put to the lake of fire on the judgement day. Just my 2 cents. Hope they are helpful for your understanding. I am still learning, too. Should you find anything wrong, I am open for correction. Shalom Azure |

1760 | Abraham, Gods first choice??? | James 1:17 | azurelaw | 193253
Dear Mike, James 1:17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, WITH WHOM THERE IS NO VARIATION OR SHIFTING SHADOW. (caps are for my emphasis) God made the decision, then the choice was made. From Gen 11:26 to Gen 12:1, there is no indication about 1st or 2nd choice or 3rd... Next time you better ask that "someone" to give you scriptural support for the statement. Shalom Azure |
