1662 | Where does Cain's wife come from? | OT general | azurelaw | 195691
nightmare, I agree with sister Cheri. You cannot just take the scripture out of its context. Let the scripture explain for itself. Most of the time, you have to also make comparison between chapters. I don't see the reason why we cannot continue to chapter 4 without fully understanding chapter 3. You have to understand that the division of chapters was not in the original writing. You are only partially right that sin in the garden was not the matter of the fruit (again, you are making a mistake - it has never ever mentioned it an apple), the sin was their disobedient to God's command (see Gen 3:17 - "...because you have listened to the voice of your wife.."). Your presumption (or even twisting the scripture) that Eve was sexually seduced by satan is totally out of context. People believe Cain is the son of Adam because IT IS CLEARLY WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE (Gen 4:1). Please stop making any speculations and fancying things for your own answer. By the way, you don't have a strong biblical support to your such notion. Please re-read the terms of use: You must abide by the following rules in connection with your use of the Forums: * Postings must be Biblically based and not opposing the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura), Christianity, or the deity of Jesus Christ. 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. 1663 | Acts 7:54-8-1 | Acts 7:58 | azurelaw | 195682
Dear it is written, A warm welcome to the family of God. I am excited to see God's gracious protection on you from the JW. Paul was an amazing fruit of the Holy Spirit. I believe he must be in an extremely deep grief in his conversion during the 3 days blindness (Act 9:9). Our almight God is so awesome!!! Paul's life reminds me of the below verse: Luke 7:47 "For this reason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little." May you be blessed in your study of the Holy Word. Shalom Azure |

1664 | Acts 7:54-8-1 | Acts 7:58 | azurelaw | 195613
Dear it is written, Just like your user name "it is written"...:-) Scripture does not show Saul actively participated in stoning or flogging Stephen. His name was first mentioned in verse 58 where he was taking care of the garments of those persecutors. But in verse 60, Saul was pleased that Stephen be stoned to death. It is reasonable to believe that Saul belonged to the angry crowd. Chapter 9 has explicitly confirmed Saul's persecution on the believers. Hope the above is helpful. Shalom Azure |

Dear glassbopper, Please see below a brief introduction of the chapter by John Gill: "As, in the two preceding chapters, the hypocrisy and formality, the profaneness and immorality, that should abound in the latter day, and even among professors of religion, are prophesied of; so, in this, a very ample account is given of latter daylight and glory; of both the spiritual and personal reign of Christ, with the latter of which it concludes. The light and glory of the church, in the spiritual reign, are described, Isaiah 60:1 the numerous conversions of persons to it from all quarters, east and west particularly, are prophesied of, Isaiah 60:4, the great usefulness those should be of unto it, in enriching it, and building it up, and in glorifying it, is declared, Isaiah 60:9, as also the subjection of enemies to it; the favours it should receive from kings, and the fame and renown of it through all nations and ages, Isaiah 60:14, its riches, prosperity, peace, and safety, Isaiah 60:17 and the chapter is concluded with an account of the more perfect state of the church in the personal reign of Christ, when there will be a perfection of light and righteousness; and the number of God's elect will be complete, and they will be all together, Isaiah 60:19." Dear glassbopper, Are you serious with the Bible study? I am sorry that I have to say you have totally mistaken the scripture. 1670 | Jesus unheard of in the old testament!!! | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 195585
Dear MLove, I don't know what kind of forum you have been engaged with previously. However, I have noticed that the dialogue of your respondent does not provide any scriptural reference. I believe if we are to discuss issues concerning the Bible, we have to always refer to the scriptures. Therefore, in your situation as such, it could result in endless non-productive debate with this skeptic. Shalom Azure |

1671 | Who was James writing to? | James | azurelaw | 195530
Dear JRV, Welcome to the forum. Hope the below commentary from John Gill helpful to you. "This epistle is called 'general,' because not written to any particular person, as the epistles to Timothy, Titus, and Philemon are; nor to any particular churches, as the epistles to the Romans, Corinthians... but to the believing Jews in general, wherever they were." Dear Yonderful--, Do a word search with "Benny Hinn" on your upper right hand corner of the screen to see the past discussions concerning this false teacher. You may also type ID 5162 which directs you to a thread discussing "slain by the spirit". It is quite obvious that your posts are promoting the theology of this false teacher which violates the below terms of use, thus causing the Lockman's exercising its control. Meanwhile, as what has brother Doc stated, this is a study bible forum, your tendency to promote your own political stand is not within the scope of the forum's purpose. * Postings must be Biblically based and not opposing the Bible's sole authority (sola Scriptura), Christianity, or the deity of Jesus Christ. * Limit content that contains known denominational biases that produce potential strife and undue conflict. * Do not push your denominational bias or engage in debates. Dear Psalms34, Can you be more specific to your question? It would be better that you can give scriptural reference. Kindly please do not write your post with CAPS (we usually use CAPS for emphasis) as it is not quite visual-friendly. :-) Thank you and hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

Dear Eddie, Welcome to the forum. You are responding to a post in 2004 and the poster has not been active since then. I doubt you will get a reply from the user. It would be always advisable that you back up your post with adequate scriptural reference. By the way, can you elaborate more on "...see things from God's point of view" and how it is done? Thank you. Hope you enjoy the forum. Shalom Azure |

1679 | Name questions God has asked. | Gen 3:9 | azurelaw | 195365
Dear Mark, Welcome to the forum. God does not need to ask for getting to know anything. He does not need to ask questions for Himself. But those seemingly questions asked (actually the word "SAID" is used in the scripture) by God appeared in Gen 3:9-13 and Job chapter 38 (there should be more, I just cite these 2 scriptures as examples) are for the sake of the persons being asked. Shalom Azure |

1680 | during the 3 days? | Matthew | azurelaw | 195363
Dear Michael, I would agree with brother Jesusman's answer (both his post 195348 and 195359) to you. The below commentary from John Gill provides the same insights as to why Jesus told Mary not to touch him. "Verse 17. Jesus saith unto her, touch me not,.... Not that his body was an aerial one, or a mere "phantom," which could not be touched; the prohibition itself shows the contrary; and besides, Christ's body was afterwards presented to Thomas, to be touched by him, and to be handled by all the disciples; and his feet were held by the women, which is what Mary would have now done: upon the discovery of him, she threw herself at his feet, and was going to embrace and kiss them, to testify her affection and joy, when she is forbid; not as unworthy of the favour, because she sought him among the dead, for which the angels reproved her and the rest; but either because he was not to be conversed with, as before his death, his body being raised immortal and glorious; or rather, because he had an errand to send her on to his disciples, which required haste; nor need she stay now to show her respect to him, since she would have opportunity enough to do that, before his ascension..."
