What I can think of is that how awesome is our God who glorifies us (dirty, muddy and filthy sinners) by making us righteous in Christ and that we may glorify Him even though we were so m-u-d-d-y. Thank you very much for the sharing, Brother Doc. :-) Shalom Azure |

1522 | Philistines still survive today | Jer 47:4 | azurelaw | 198964
A question was asked by a youngster in my cell group : Are there any Philistines still survive today? I am not good at history. However, from the above scripture, does it mean that Philistines no long exist nowadays or that scriptures speaks only with the limitation in that historical and geographical aspect as recorded? 1524 | another try | Gen 1:27 | azurelaw | 198957
Hi John, What I heard within my society "woman is made of water". By such application (or imagination), when dust mixed with water, man and woman become one flesh as well as a clay in the Potter's hand ......Just my unbiblical fancy thought :-) Gen 2:22-24 Shalom Azure |

1525 | Is procreation a command or a blessing | Gen 9:1 | azurelaw | 198910
Dear Nick, Thank you for pointing me to that. I was just too sleepy and did not read my Chinese Bible carefully enough last night (my time). You are right - God SAID to Adam and Eve to be fruitful. Shalom Azure |

1526 | Is procreation a command or a blessing | Gen 9:1 | azurelaw | 198887
Dear Cheri, Thanks for your response. Our discussion has nothing to do with her situation or mine. This sister is a single, devoted christian. She raised the issue for the reason of that she has encountered with people (christians or non-christians) struggling with the issue of divorce. She strongly feels that part of the reason people are so resentful to Christianity is that christians hold a very conservative position (only accept divorce under adultery) on the issue and appear to be unloving towards the suffering party of a couple by disregarding factors such as impotence, unable to fulfill the vow, staying together could obviously bring them more hurt and destruction ... Finally, she asked what constitute to marriage. If a man and a woman chose to live together, commit solely to each other, not having any children at all and civil responsibilities not affected, ect. what is the need for signing that paper? We did not have enough time to finish our conversation as we were having a quick breakfast (about 15 min) last Sunday. I do not fully agree with what she briefly said. I hope I could be well prepared and find the chance for a longer talk with her. Shalom Azure |

1527 | Is procreation a command or a blessing | Gen 9:1 | azurelaw | 198878
Recently I have a brief discussion a with sister in Christ where she asked what consitutes to the validity of marriage? Is it justify for a divorce if the spouse is impotence? Her reasoning is that God wants us to be fruitful and husband and wife become one flesh under marriage. If either one party is impotence, how can it validate the marriage relationship and also fulfill the purpose of procreation? My question : Is being fruitful (to reproduce) a command or a blessing? I did a search and found that God had not said to Adam and Eve be fruitful but to other creatures made before them. (Gen 1:22, 1:28). The word used is "blessed". Only until Noah's time God BLESSED them to be fruitful (Gen 9:1). I appreciate your thoughts. Shalom Azure |

1528 | God working for our good | Rom 8:28 | azurelaw | 198818
Dear Sister Mommaphs, Welcome back to the SBF. I am so excited to see you post again and I praise the Lord for His gracious care for you in your time of need. May I surmise that you have been recovered from your illness? With regards to your question, I think it is not appropriate to exclude the last part of the verse "to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." for proper understanding. In the case of Hymenaeus and Alexander, I hesitate to assure of the co-relation of both verses. I will need to check further. The main purpose of this post is to address my warm welcom to you, dear sister :-) Shalom Azure |

1529 | How do you defend your faith? | Rom 3:10 | azurelaw | 198800
Dear Belmonter, Welcome to the forum. "Good people" - in what and whose standard? Rom 3:10 As it is written, None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and conscientious, no, not one. [Ps. 14:3.] Rom 3:11 No one understands [no one intelligently discerns or comprehends]; no one seeks out God. [Ps. 14:2.] Rom 3:12 All have turned aside; together they have gone wrong and have become unprofitable and worthless; no one does right, not even one! Rom 3:13 Their throat is a yawning grave; they use their tongues to deceive (to mislead and to deal treacherously). The venom of asps is beneath their lips. [Ps. 5:9; 140:3.] Rom 3:14 Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. [Ps. 10:7.] Rom 3:15 Their feet are swift to shed blood. Rom 3:16 Destruction [as it dashes them to pieces] and misery mark their ways. Rom 3:17 And they have no experience of the way of peace [they know nothing about peace, for a peaceful way they do not even recognize]. [Isa. 59:7, 8.] Rom 3:18 There is no [reverential] fear of God before their eyes. [Ps. 36:1.] We deserve nothing, but the wrath of God and hell. (John 3:36, Rom 1:18) Shalom Azure |

1530 | salvation | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 198741
Dear Dr Steeno, I have been following the discussions along the thread. I see that some posters have requested you to provide scriptural support to your posts. However, it seems that you are not willing to do so. Even though what you said is biblical, relevant scripture quotation is necessary as per the terms of use of the forum. By the way, please also understand that this is a public forum, you are not only responding to the questioner but also exposing your words to the silent readers. In view of such, do you think providing scriptural quotes necessary for better edification for the readers? Since you address yourself with "Dr.", I assume you are holding a doctorate. When you write up an academic piece of work, do you support your argument with relevant quotation? We also see Jesus often quotes from the Old Testament. (Mat 4:4-11, 4:21, 4:27, 4:33, 4:38...) So, I don't see the reason why you ignore the request and I hope you are not disrespectful to others with such behaviour. Shalom Azure |

1532 | Seeking God | Bible general Archive 4 | azurelaw | 198726
Dear Nicko, I agree with you that "everything else is dependent upon loving God and ONE of the ways we show this is by loving others (Matt 25:35-40)" But you cannot demean other ways such as devotions, prayer, baptism, tithing...(examples as you cited) being less important. Without devotions, prayer, etc. (I am glad that you did not skip studying the Bible) how can we abide in the True Vine? Not abiding in the True Vine, how can we do anything - needless to say loving others. (John 15:1-8) Jesus gives the commandments in sequence as you know: FIRST - to love our God with all our HEARTS, MINDS, STRENGTHS. Shalom Azure |

Dear james008, [are you the successor of 007? :-), just kidding] Why do you think that the translation difference between LORD and Yahweh hinders your growth? Shalom Azure 1 Pet 2:2 like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation. |

Dear Talchapy, Kindly withhold your anger. (James 1:19-20) Please re-read the terms of use of the forum where there is a guideline about proper "quotation" from other writers. Brother John just wanted to remind you about that, otherwise, our negligence could cause troubles to our host - the Lockman. Shalom Azure |
