1 | Most Accurate Bible Translation? | Not Specified | asteng88 | 146848
Hi, I am a VERY confused ex-catholic currently coarting a lifeling Jehovahs Witness. There is no risk of me converting to JW but I would like to seek God in my life again and don't really know where to start. I see so many different versions and translations of the Bible with so many errors and omissions. Could someone please (unbiased) point me in the correct direction as to which Bible is the most accurate. My girlfriend's faith is unfortunately based upon a "bible" that has been doctored to suit the doctrine so to speak and I would like to do my own research into finding God once more via the true word. I will not become a Catholic again either, as this religion seems to be based more on doctrines for self preservation than on the Bible. Regards and Best Wishes Andrew |

2 | YAHWEH, JEHOVAH or LORD | Not Specified | asteng88 | 146919
Hi, I have been searching for the most accurate Bible to begin studying. Many people have helped in putting me on the right track but I have found what I would class as a major inconsistency, even within the same version of the Bible. I believe that if in either Hebrew or Aramaic, God's name (YHWH) was printed (which it was), it should be copied exactly word for word into the translation. Even scholar's have translated it into Yahweh or even Jehovah so why is this left out of the Bible when it clearly states to use Gods Name. Replacing it with LORD in the NIV and the TNIV disappointed me greatly as there was a very weak explanation as to why and it even stated that it copied the format in the KJV (which is untrue because the KJV has Jehovah included in the text) and it also stated that it may include it in future revisions. However, when looking through different prints of the KJV, some had the word Jehovah in it and others has the word LORD. Can anyone explain to me why this is and if there is a version of the bible that is as close to perfect translation as possible without man's simple interference? |

7 | What is included in the act of marriage? | Numbers | asteng88 | 146918
Hi, Although your friend may thik that he can take the law into his own hands by creating vows for themselves, these are merely promises that have no lawful binding, even under God's eyes. You are married when and ONLY when it is performed under the current LAWS of the land, to which the Bible states we should follow. Also sexual intercourse with a minor is statutory rape. Tell your friend that if they truly love each other, they can wait a few years to do things properly, no point getting married in prison. Hope this helps asteng88 |
