81 | What is the light in Genesis 1:3? | Gen 1:3 | WalkingTalkingBible | 132424
Hi, pgs, I agree with the other posts concerning 'light'. God is the Light of man. The light in Genesis 1:3 is the glory of God signifying His presence (Jews call it the Shekinah glory). I believe it is the same light that will be seen in the new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1, 23). 2 Chronicles 5:14; Exodus 40:34 WalkingTalkingBible |

82 | What is the meaning of unleavened bread? | Ex 12:1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 122385
Unleaven bread is a symbol for sin. 1 Corinthians 5:6-8, "Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." Unleaven bread goes back to the first Passover meal (Exodus 12). The Hebrews were told to "eat it in haste" (the lamb, bread, and herbs). Naturally, it takes time for bread to rise with yeast (leaven) as an ingredient. The leaven symbolizes sin as a hinderance to being "passed over" from the judgment of God. They were to eat "with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand" (verse 11). This signifies being prepared to move instantly on the word of God. WalkingTalkingBible |

85 | Please elaborate more on question 1 | 1 Sam 19:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 133178
Hi, to correctly answer these questions, we have to look at the dispensations - these tell us in which way God deals with man and what He expects from man. 1. God does not have an evil spirit. God is holy and His spirit (character in this sense) is holy. As we know, holy means pure. 1 Thessalonians 4:8b "but God, who hath also given unto us His holy Spirit." Leviticus 19:2 ". . . for I the LORD your God am holy." During Saul's time, God was dealing with man through the Law. Deuteronomy 28:15 "But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:" Saul disobeyed God and God kept His word; Saul was cursed. An evil spirit was sent to torment Saul and he chose not to repent. In the our time (Grace Dispensation), God does not allow evil to come upon us, we do. The gift of Salvation frees us from the bondage of sin. It must be understood that true repentance is not just saying 'I'm sorry'. It starts with realizing that you are a sinner and that your very way of life is an offense to God. Then you have to be accountable for your sin and desire forgiveness. A soul that is truly repented is not so quick to sin. Evil, now, comes against us because we are the children of God. We are told that our enemies are not of the flesh. God equips us for spiritual warfare, why then would He send it to us? In this dispensation, we choose whether we will abstain from evil or do evil. Romans 6:16 "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" 2. In the past dispensations, God's spirit did not live in man. In the OT, we read where the spirit of God moved, came over, was with, etc. In our dispensation, we have the opportunity for the spirit of God to dwell within us. It's one thing to get saved, it's another thing to live and stay saved. The Holy Spirit basically shows us how to live holy and helps us persevere until Jesus returns for us. WalkingTalkingBible |

86 | how does this apply to today and faith | 2 Kin 4:28 | WalkingTalkingBible | 134379
Elisha sent his servant, Gehazi, to meet the Shunammite woman (v. 26) and she told him that all was well because she wanted to talk with the man of God. We see Gehazi's heart in how he comes to push the woman away (v. 27). Elisha knew she was vexed but didn't know exactly what was troubling her (v. 27). Applying this to us today we learn it's not wrong to want to go to the top for answers or help. In the Shunammite's case, it was the man of God. In our case, we can go directly to God. 87 | But do we have to sin? | Job 1:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117625
Hi, I'm new here and I'm enjoying your discussion. I would like to comment on the "sin showing off God's glory." Yes, He tolerates evil and sin because of His love for us. Remember when He created the world? God created the world and man without sin. The devil had been expelled from Heaven (which was the darkness and lack of form and emptiness). The only way evil enters into the world is through sin. Man chose to sin against God and lost dominion to the devil. God is not glorified in evil. Because evil enters into the earth via sin, God gets glory when we return to Him through accepting Jesus and do His will. Sin glorifies His adversary, the devil. (Romans 6:1-2; Isaiah 59:2; Genesis 1:1-2)

Yep, you got it! God gets the glory when we overcome sin. WalkingTalkingBible |

89 | But do we have to sin? | Job 1:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117633
God doesn't allow evil so that He can get glory. He gets glory only we choose to do His will over our sinful ways. (Sorry, I forgot to put this in the last answer)
90 | Job 1:21 why does he refer to God here w | Job 1:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 117635
During Job's dispensations, God dealt with man via conscience and law as opposed to our dispensation which is Grace. It wasn't until Jesus that the devil was exposed. Job, and the other O.T. people didn't deal directly with the devil. They had no power against him because this was before the Day of Pentacost. Job knew God as having all power, he didn't know that God had a conversation about him with the devil. God had to fight the enemy for them as oppose to us, being given power via the in-dwelling of the Holy Ghost and the acknowledgement that we are not fighting against flesh and blood. In our dispensation, God has given His believers power (authority) over all the power of the enemy. For the second part of your question, 3 John 2 tells us that God wills for His believers to prosper and be in good health, even as our souls prosper. God loves to bless His children. When it's time for us to be taken to a higher level in faith, He may move some things out of His way. When we are giving more attention to the things and people He has blessed our lives with, and He's not first in our lives, He will move those out of His way. But as far as giving and taking, God has a loving motive behind all that He does. Whatever He permits to happen in our lives, it's for our own good. (Isaiah 41:10; Luke 10:19; Acts 1:8; 3 John 2; 1 Corinthians 10:13; Romans 8:28) WalkingTalkingBible |

92 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 133182
Hi, ds8334, I agree with the post that james210 wrote. Isaiah 59:1-2 says "Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear." It is sin that separates man from God. So who are they talking to when they "pray" a prayer that is not asking for Salvation? Well, look at it this way: wouldn't Satan love it if we thought we could pray, get what we ask for, and not get saved? It's a trick of the enemy and the fault of the unbeliever! Many times it seems that the unsaved has more than us, but God tells us in Psalm 37:16: "A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked." 1 Peter 3:12: "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." John 9:31: "Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth." The answer is that unbelievers can pray to God, but He will only hear them when they are asking for forgiveness. Otherwise, some of the unbelievers' so-called answered prayers are actually those of the believers who are praying for them. WalkingTalkingBible |

93 | Can unbelievers pray to God? | Prov 28:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 133196
Yes, God heard Cain's prayer, but this was in a different dispensation (Conscience). He wasn't dealing with man the same way He's dealing with us. The question was "Can unbelievers pray to God (not the prayer of Salvation) and have their prayers answered?" The answer is found in Scripture concerning the dispensation when Salvation is offered - now. There's no excuse (Romans 1:20) for a soul not to accept Salvation. This doesn't mean that God doesn't have compassion for the unbelievers, as He only knows what it takes to win a soul - but they have their choice as to what they want to believe. Although, God is merciful, He is also just. He turned His ear away from His own until they turned from their wicked ways (2 Chronicles 7:14). I'd have to stick with Scripture on this one. "For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil." 1 Peter 3:12 WalkingTalkingBible |

94 | Do animals have souls? | Eccl 3:21 | WalkingTalkingBible | 127854
I'm hearing that animals have souls. This is a topic that I've never really given much thought. I would say right off that they do not, but since I haven't studied this topic, I could be wrong. Is there any Biblical proof that animals have souls? Thanking you in advance, WalkingTalkingBible |

96 | 1Peter 2:1 | Matthew | WalkingTalkingBible | 125895
Hi Natalyi, I dealt with this situation personally with family members. I found that once I stopped quoting the Bible for every word that came out of their mouths (that's how I got this name!) and for every situation they experienced, they started to pay attention to me. What got their attention was the way I handled myself in adversities, they saw how faithful I was to God, and most of all, they couldn't understand why I am happy all the time. (I owe it all to Jesus!) He said to let our lights shine. This doesn't mean that we have to stop witnessing verbally, but let your life be a witness - how you conduct yourself as a child of God. I believe that this is the reason why we are to study to show ourselves approved to God, only He knows when a soul is ready to receive His word through you. When I was baptized with the Holy Ghost, He led me to first, have a genuine relationship with Himself, and second, to fully submit to Him, that way, when I witness, I wasn't "casting pearls" or just "a voice in the wilderness," neither was I speaking of myself, I was just a vessel used by God. Be encouraged, although the people seem stubborn, you have planted some good seeds. What I would say (if I was led to do so) to someone that say the things in your post is 1) God wants to be first in your life. He will take care of you. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew (6:33) 2) Be thankful for what you have and don't be greedy. "And having food and raiment let us be therewith content." (1 Timothy 6:8) Don't stop verbally witnessing (as led by the Holy Spirit), when they complain, you say, 'How do can I help?' Remember Jesus said that if they don't receive your word, shake the dust off. However, keep praying for them and please keep loving them because that's what draw soul - His love. I'm dealing with someone very close to me now who knows about paying tithes, but refuses with a bunch of excuses. I see this person in all kinds of financial trouble, home falling apart, losing in all areas of life. But this person has to make a choice for herself. All I can do is what God leads me to do, and that's pray and continue to love. Believe it or not, these are much more powerful than Bible verses. Remember, they are spiritually blind and cannot see what you see. Show them the way with your life which shines the Light of Jesus. Don't count them as lost, you may be the sower, someone else will water, but God gives the increase! I hope this helps you. WalkingTalkingBible |

97 | 1Peter 2:1 | Matthew | WalkingTalkingBible | 125910
I know what you, mean! I don't mind you being long winded, I love to hear testamonies on how God is giving the victory in others lives. You're right, I'm also God's witness. Yes, I have given her the verses on robbing God in tithes, offerings and the blessings (Malachi 3:8-12). I've also given her spiritual advice on believing in God which is trusting Him for everything and also on giving ungrudgingly. The problem I run into the most in teaching about tithing is that people say that they can't afford to tithe. What they don't understand is that they can't afford NOT to tithe! Thanks for your response. WalkingTalkingBible |

98 | Guidelines on rebuking | Matthew | WalkingTalkingBible | 125911
LeslieN, are you a new convert? I ask because you seem a little lifted up in your own eyes. We are here to share, study and help each other understand God's Word. If revelation is given to you where one understands because of something that you've stated, give God the glory, you can't do anything on your own. God will not give His glory to another! I'm not being mean, I'm only going by such phrases as "this is my work" and "also a pat on the back, well I can't really get one if no one knows who I am." Let's remember, we're not here to "sound good" to each other or become famous (even though some will), but to help souls desire a closer relationship with God. It's all about Him, not about us. If I've misjudged you, I apologize. WalkingTalkingBible |

100 | 1Peter 2:1 | Matthew | WalkingTalkingBible | 126032
Your outlook is a very good one. Love is what sets true believers apart from all others who profess to be believers. Your question helped me to take a closer look at ‘fellowship’ and ‘believers.’ This verse came to mind: "Finally, all [of you] should be of one and the same mind (united in spirit), sympathizing [with one another], loving [each other] as brethren [of one household], compassionate and courteous (tenderhearted and humble)." 1 Peter 3:8 (AMP) What stands out in this verse is ‘one and the same mind (united in spirit). True believers have that one and same mind towards Truth because they are submitted to and led by God. There may be different levels of faith (new converts to mature saints), but everyone (of the true Church) is united in spirit, by the Spirit. We believe in one God, three manifestations: the Father, Word, and the Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7). We believe that God came in the flesh (born of a virgin) to die for the sins of the world. We believe that Jesus resurrected on the third day. We believe that God, manifested as the Holy Spirit, dwells in every baptized (not water) believer. We believe that Jesus in the only mediator between man and God (1 Timothy 2:5). We believe that Jesus will return. What do we call those who believe something other than the truth? What if they believe in a god and not God? Are they still believers? I haven’t found a religion yet that doesn’t have some erroneous teaching and doctrines. However, knowing that God loves every one of us equally, whether, catholic, non-denomination, Jew, Mormon, Jehovah's Witness, sinner, etc., we are to love these souls unconditionally. God is not partial when it comes to saving souls. It's not good enough, in God's eyes, that one believes in something; one must believe that God is God (Hebrews 11:6). I believe God places different ones in our lives so that we can be used by Him to bring them into the light of the Truth. Afterall, it is not God's will that any should perish and this should be our will also. Thanks for this opportunity to share my views and let me know your thoughts. WalkingTalkingBible |
