EdB, sorry, I don't mean to ignore the other issues, I don't remember what they are, so I can't say that I agree or disagree. It doesn't seem like you are seeking understanding. It seems more like you are trying to prove me wrong. I say that because I have given you scriptures on everything but "pleading the blood," and you have chosen not to accept what was given. I pray that your understanding will be opened, and I hope you are truly praying for me with the best interest of my soul at heart. While we are all on different faith levels, it is not of God to slander one another, or judge one anther based on what we think we know. No one will get a "diploma" in holiness, we're all trying to make it to be with God. When I see someone is unable to understand at the time, I don't keep plucking away at them. I know "some sow, some water, but God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6-8)." Neither do I say that they are being falsely taught because I don't know their hearts, only God does. I don't know everything, so I can't say what everyone else is saying is false, unless it is not according to Scripture. If you carefully read my answers, you will find that I never said anything about "saints binding Satan." I haven't found the bible to directly say, "plead the blood," but I know that I am saved by the blood of Jesus - no one else's blood was good enough. I know that there is power in the Name of Jesus. If you read Mark 16:17-18, you'll see that believers will be enabled to do the works that Jesus did. Jesus says in John 14:12, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." In the beginning of Acts, the Holy Ghost was poured out on believers. After that, throughout Acts, we see miracles, healings, and demons being cast out. They worked many "miracles and signs." Well, we have this same power through our faith and commitment to Jesus, who was God in the flesh. Casting out demons is a process which includes binding. Demons do not work apart from Satan, so what they do are his works. That's where the phrase, "bind the works of Satan" comes from. I know that whatever you do against the enemy, you must be covered by the blood of Jesus and I know that every spirit is subject to the name of Jesus. I wouldn't try to bind and rebuke anything without having Jesus living in me! If you are filled with the Holy Ghost (with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance) then you have the same power (through Jesus). If the Old Testament can be applied to our lives, why is it so hard to apply the New Testament to our lives? WalkingTalkingBible |

Hank, I put that in there (with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance) because there are many that speak in tongues but the tongues are not from God. Speaking in tongues is the initial sign to the other people of God that the believer has received the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:4; 10:44-46; 19:6). The believer knows that the Holy Ghost is dwelling in them because there is a change in the way of life. And I agree, the fruits of the Spirit are far better evidence of the indwelling of the Holy Ghost than tongues. I know some people who spoke in tongues when they were filled with the Holy Ghost and then they went back to their worldly ways. Some churches today have tarrying services to help "seekers" receive the Holy Ghost. I don't really agree or disagree with it, but I know you can receive the Holy Ghost anywhere and not just in a tarrying service. Speaking in tongues, other than the gift, has nothing to do with your spiritual walk. WalkingTalkingBible |

Backsliders are ones who were once living according to the will of God and turned again back to their worldly and carnal ways. "Believe" means more than "what one feels is right" or what one's beliefs are." To spiritually believe is to be fully committed to, fully accept, to fully trust (look up the greek word for "believe" in the concordance) God. You have a choice to live according to the will of God or not. Someone who has returned from following God back to the "world" is considered a backslider. Israel received the label "backsliding" because they had turned from the ways of God to serving idols and practicing sin. If salvation (being delivered) was a one time deal, then we wouldn't need the Holy Ghost. We wouldn't need to die daily to ourselves. We wouldn't have to resist the devil. We wouldn't have to abstain from every appearance of sin. Eternal life in John 3:16 means that those who are committed to (and remain committed to) the Word of God (Jesus) will have eternal life. But if you return to practicing sin, and you die (or the Rapture takes place) you will still have eternal life, just not with God. (Proverbs 14:14; Jeremiah 2:19; 3:6,8,11-12,14,22; 5:6; 8:5; 14:7; 31:22; 49:4; Hosea 4:16; 11:7; 14:4; Ezekiel 33) WalkingTalkingBible |

Tongues, as one of the signs of the in-dwelling of the Holy Ghost (Mark 16:17) can be found in Acts 2:4;10:46;19:6. Tongues, as a Spiritual gift can be found in 1 Corinthians 12, 13, and 14. WalkingTalkingBible |

I'm sorry (and very concerned) that you can't agree with what I've written about tongues, which were Scriptures. Please ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost (we can never get too much). Also, Morant61 has given you the correct interpretation of the Scriptures you use to justify your stand on tongues. Kalos has given an excellent website with questions and answers about tongues and the Holy Ghost. Please read and ask God to open up your understanding. Don't miss out on the fullness of the Holy Spirit! WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi Ken John, along with what Prazn has answered, the Holy Ghost that was poured out on souls in Acts is the same Holy Ghost today. What has changed is the church. The in-dwelling of the Holy Ghost - the Spirit of God living inside the believer - empowers the believer to do the ministry that God has called him/her to do. Also, the Holy Ghost empowers the believer to serve God spiritually as opposed to doing what one thinks is right, or the best one can do (Acts 1:8). I've visited churches where people go through the routine sermon, sing some songs, take the offering, and go home. There's no power in religion. But I pray that you get a chance to get a relationship with God - one that's above knowing all of your Bible and theology (the devil also knows the Bible), but a genuine relationship where you actually get to know Him. He's a living Being! You'll find that the presence of God is unlike anything else in the world! Today, most of the time people speak in tongues is when they are rejoicing and praising and letting God have His complete way with them! It happens to me! There are believers, today, who have the gift of tongues and believers with the gift of interpretation. There's just no way you can have the presence of God Almighty and all you do is nod and clap your hands. God says in 1 Thessalonians 5:19, "Quench not the Spirit" and that's what has happened today. The Holy Ghost, that Fire, has been put out in many of the souls today. These walk around with their theology and knowledge of what the Bible says, dignified and prompt, but no real knowledge of who God is. They only know what the "book" says, they've never experienced anything. Although many teach that 2 Timothy 3:1-4 is talking about unbelievers, it is actually speaking of those who claim to believe. Verse 5 says, "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." Verse 7 of the same chapter says, "Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." Jesus says in John 14:10-12: "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." Notice He says, "he that believeth on Me" which refers to all who believe (commit to, trust, accept). We as believers have to choose to grow spiritually, God won't MAKE us do anything. We, as children of God, are responsible for bringing souls to Christ and the Holy Ghost is willing to empower us to do so, if we are willing to allow Him. (I guess this is why I was called a "false teacher" by many in this forum because I told of binding and loosing and casting out devils. I understand, now, that without the Holy Ghost, none of this can even be understood, let alone performed. Anyhow, I pray for the souls of all and say, "Let God be true and every man a liar") Your Sister in Christ, WalkingTalkingBible |

Thanks, jcsav, and you're right, the True Church hasn't changed. That's why when a spiritual truth is spoken, it is causes much persecution. But I rejoice! Broad is the way. . . and I'm going to stick to the truth as opposed to what I think and what theology and religion says. I believe that after the truth has been given, it's up to the individual to choose. I agree, also, that God always will have a Witness. Many are called, but few are chosen. WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi, Searcher56, Matthew 16:19 says, "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Mark 16:17-18 says, "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." A child of God is to walk in the Spirit which is to be lead of the Holy Ghost in all that we do. You speak as if you think of "casting out devils, (demons in our language)" to be 1)a ministry only needed in Haiti and 2)as if this ministry is some magical show. The Holy Ghost gives power to discern spirits and He also gives power to handle spirits. The Holy Ghost, who is God, also gives wisdom on what to do with spirits. If the Holy Ghost leads me to go to Haiti, I will, but I think there are enough DEVILS here in the U.S. to deal with. WalkingTalkingBible |

Has the ministry of the Holy Ghost changed? It is foolishness to some who profess Christ to cast out devils, speak in tongues, heal the sick, raise the dead, etc. The Holy Ghost empowers the true Church to be witnesses to Him (Jesus), to do what? Bring souls to Him. How? By doing the works that He did. Is it that the Holy Ghost has changed or those who oppose are PROFESSING Christ but not POSSESSING the Holy Spirit? I'm very concerned. Hi, Rowdy, how is the Holy Ghost different in the apostles as in other believers? "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." - John 14:12 There's only one way to get power from God and that is to have Him living on the inside and totally yield to Him. Humans don't have power, all power comes from God (Matthew 28:18). Even the apostles were powerless until they were filled with the Holy Ghost. Faith moves God, period, and without faith, it is impossible to please God. Who can God use today to work miracles and do as Jesus did? True believers who are willing to believe and be used by God. God doesn't discriminate, He doesn't have favorites. He loves us all and whoever is willing to do His will are the ones He'll use. There's nothing new under the sun, the same issues then, we have them now. People are in need of deliverance, but there are too many professing that will sit back and say, "I'll pray for you" or quote some Scriptures instead of getting their hands dirty and leading these souls to Christ. There are many souls who we come in contact with: oppressed , depressed, sick, and tormented; the Holy Ghost is much too powerful and loving to only give these people the Word. God knows that it takes more than giving the Word and praying for some, that's why He promised to live in believers. Anyone can quote some Scriptures - even satan knows the Word of God. When was the last time he layed hands on someone to heal them? Probably the same time some of the professing only s-aints. It's sad how today's religion and intellectual theologists have put God "in a box." All of a sudden, the Holy Ghost is powerless and the works done in the early church no longer exists. I invite every professing saint to ask God to fill them with the Holy Ghost and give them the mind (or heart) to have compassion for these souls out here - to be willing to do more than talk the Word, but also do the Word. You'll find that your relationship with God is much more rewarding when He's using you for the purpose He created you. WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi, Rowdy! My position, my point, my question is, How has the Holy Ghost changed? Why is it now believed that only the early Church was empowered by the Holy Ghost to work miracles and have spiritual gifts? "I am the Lord, I change not." - Malachi 3:6a Yes, I know many (one very personally) who God uses to heal, cast out, speak and interpret tongues, whatever means of deliverance the soul needs according to the leadership of the Holy Ghost. I don't know what "sherking" means and I am aware that there are many false teachers, but God is living! Is it because the Holy Ghost is not actually dwelling within, as some claim? It seems that if the we all had the Holy Ghost we would be all with one accord (granted there are different levels of faith). We would have the same concerns and compassion for others as God has. It takes more, for some souls, than giving them a word and telling them you'll pray for them. It takes more than a ministry that tells people what they should do, it takes deliverance and if the Holy Ghost dwells within, then the power needed is there. Maybe you're thinking of the TV evangelists that put on a big show, healing and doing whatever. I'm talking about bringing souls to Christ and helping them be delivered from strongholds and curses that they were bound to as unbelievers and wrestle with as believers. Tim Moran has given you some great points in his posts. I know, personally, that God doesn't live in us so we can sit back and do nothing in the lives of others. I, personally, get my hands dirty. I know that without God, I am nothing, but I can do all things through Christ, Who strengthens me! Like Tim stated earlier, people are doing things their way - programs and stuff. But the true Church will do things God's way! I've concluded, from some of the posts of other forum participants concerning miracles, signs and wonders, that: 1) they think little of God OR 2) they think He's different from the God of the early Church OR 3) they don't know God Many know what the Word says literally, but don't KNOW the Word. I'm concerned because the devil knows what the Word says but he will not put It into action! "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost" 2 Corinthians 4:3 WalkingTalkingBible |

72 | Spirit/spirit?Is Spirit given or spirit? | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 122332
Hi, Ray! Acts 8:18 - 19 would be "Spirit," because it talks about the Holy Ghost Himself 1 Timothy 4:14 and (I assume you meant) 2 Timothy 1:6 would be "spiritual gift" because those speak of something from God The Holy Spirit (God Himself) is a gift - Acts 2:38 spiritual gifts are from the Spirit (God) - 1 Corinthians 12 God is a Spirit (John 4:24) and He is holy, but when describing Him as being holy and a spirit, it would be Holy Spirit. (I almost confused myself!) WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi, Ray, thanks! No, I don't think the Word is an it (no way!!). You are right, I should've said, "the devil knows what the *word says but he will not put *it into action!" Thanks for catching that and thanks also for the verses. I do believe the Holy Spirit proceeds from God (and is God). I haven't studied 2 Corinthians 1:22 so I'll have to get back with you on the idea of the holy spirit as a down payment. WalkingTalkingBible |

". . . but some doubted. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" Matthew 28:17b, 19 "And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not. And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them." Mark 16:11, 13 "And their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not. . . Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. . . And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? . . . And he took it, and did eat before them . . . And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. . . but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high." Luke 24:11, 39, 41, 43, and 47 The disciples were having a problem believing that Jesus had resurrected. These verses (above) are from the other three Gospels and are parallel to John 20:18-23. "He breathed on them" showing them that He was not a ghost, but alive again. In Luke's account, He ate fish and honeycomb, and told them to touch Him, to show that He had resurrected. 75 | Playing Cards | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 125045
Hi, nakia1980, the answer that prayon gave to your other question concerning music also goes for this one. While reading your questions, some verses come to mind: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:2 and "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17 It seems that the Church (Body of Christ) is struggling to draw and satisfy souls who are not really born again. God calls for a holy nation - one that's separated (sanctified) in views, thoughts, and actions. The Church shouldn't have to stoop to worldly activities to draw and keep souls, the Light of Jesus is enough. He says, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." John 12:32 (on the cross as well in the hearts of believers). As Christians, we are to glorify God in all that we do. We are to acknowledge Him in all our ways. Also, He wants praise from the sun up until the sun down. I said all that to say, if God can get the glory from you playing cards, play on. If God can get the well deserved praise as you listen to your music, listen on. If these are things you used to do before you were born again, avoid them. The enemy is trying to draw you back. When you are born again, instead of feeling that you can't do things, you find that there are things that you don't want to do. The Holy Ghost will lead you to fun things to do while maintaining your sanctification if you're willing. Thank you for your questions, they really made me do a self exam. WalkingTalkingBible |

77 | when was lucifer kicked out of heaven | Genesis | WalkingTalkingBible | 117642
Revelation is not just a prophesy of the last days, it is the actual revelation of Jesus Christ, in whom all things were made (John 1:1-3,14). God doesn't have a beginning or end and Jesus is our beginning and end (which is God, His Word). Revelation 12 is a very good example of the summary of the beginning to the beginning of the tribulation period. The woman is the nation, Israel. The crown of twelve stars symbolizes the twelve tribes of Israel. The child is Jesus. This chapter tells us what went on in the beginning. Before the earth and heavens were created, all this had taken place, thus taking us to Genesis 1:2 where the devil had already been expelled from Heaven, he and a third of the host of heaven (Revelation 12:4).
78 | WTB Show where is the devil kicked out. | Genesis | WalkingTalkingBible | 117652
In Genesis 1:2, we see that the earth, a creation of God, being without form, and it was void (emptiness) and darkness was present. One may question if God made the earth like that. Remember, God is perfect, having all power, and Holy - how could He create something formless and void? As God moved across the face of the deep He saw the potential for informity in His creation. Why, because the devil and his followers had been expelled from Heaven. Now in verses 3-5, we see that God created light. This light was not the sun, moon, or stars (which were not created until the 4th day). If this darkness had been simply natural darkness, then those natural lights would have been sufficient. However, the darkness that "was upon the face of the deep" was a darkness that only the light of God, better know as the Shekinah glory (Exodus 40:34-35) could separate. The light, which is the presence of God was divided, or set apart, from the darkness, the presence of the devil. I believe the devil was kicked out before the completion of the first day of creation. Revelation 12:4 also shows the devil and a third of the host of heaven being expelled from heaven. But since we know that God created everything in the beginning, then the expulsion had to have taken place before, or during the beginning of the creation of the earth. Satan is an angel, or spirit, created by God. How does Job 1:6 prove that Satan was not kicked out of Heaven? He came to present himself like the rest of the angels. The angels ascend and descend all the time (John 1:51). Satan is not in control, he has to also submit to God. WalkingTalkingBible |
