201 | spiritual or physical? | Gal 6:1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 181555
I asked my question to try to understand where Blazer was coming from. My question was not a suggestion that there's spiritual healing for physical or mental illnesses. However, the Spirit can "heal" the wounded spirit of man. I don't know if this is the type of answer Blazer was looking for. WTB |

202 | Saved without faith? | Eph 2:8 | WalkingTalkingBible | 120827
I was asked by one of our forum members, "Faith keeps us saved? Where does scripture tell us this?" I'm concerned that there are teachings going forth in our time that omit the responsibility of the believer. There are teachings that omit the importance of "knowing" God and focuses on "the knowing of" God. There are teachings that deny God in that of the power of the Holy Ghost - once saved, always saved, just believe :one time repentance, one time confession, one time to ask for forgiveness and it's all done - I have eternal life because God promised it and I believe! My question is how can you be saved without faith? Yes, Jesus gave His life for the sins of the world, He did His part. I understand that without the guidance of Holy Ghost this question is difficult. I'm not concerned with being popular in this forum, it would be a bit scary if everyone agrees with me. (I enjoy learning and sharing God's Word as led by the Holy Ghost - I never want to be a stumbling block to other souls). "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:" (Matthew 7:13) "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Proverbs 16:25) WalkingTalkingBible |

203 | Saved without faith? | Eph 2:8 | WalkingTalkingBible | 120850
Hi, Tim. Thank you for replying to my post. I think we are looking at my question from two different perspectives. I'll try to be more specific: In John 3:16, Jesus says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Salvation involves two beings: 1)God and His love for the world and 2)man. When I made the statement "Jesus did His part" I am saying that all that had to be done for man's salvation (deliverance) had been done by Jesus. But just because Jesus died for the sins of the world, doesn't make the world saved. Man has to "do something." Look at it in this perspective: God so loved the world that He "did something" that whosoever "does something" should not perish, but have everlasting life. Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. None of us today saw Jesus suffer for us. None of us today saw Jesus hanging on the cross. None of today were there when He died, resurrected, and ascended, but by faith, the Word of God is truth. Man has to do something and that is to have faith (believe). We are saved because we have faith that Jesus did it all. Yes, we are saved by His blood, but since we didn't see the blood, only by the Word of God, we have faith. If we didn't "do something" (believe) how would we know that the Word of God is true? If all that had to be done for souls to receive salvation is Jesus dying and resurrecting, then EVERYONE would be saved! Salvation is to the one with true faith. (Colossians 1:23; Ephesians 2:8; Mark 11:22; Hebrews 11:6, 12:2; 1 Peter 5) Your Sister in Christ, WalkingTalkingBible |

204 | Saved or hoping to be saved? | Eph 2:8 | WalkingTalkingBible | 120896
You are saved IF you continue in faith. That's why Jesus said, "He that endures to the end shall be saved (Matthew 10:22)." You are saved (or delivered) from the bondage of sin if you accept Jesus as Savior. Then He empowers you via Holy Ghost to maintain salvation but you have to choose to continue in faith. Then when you die, if you have kept the faith, you will be saved from eternal damnation (or eternal separation from God). Colossians 1:22-23 says, "In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel. . ." It's not that we hope to be saved, but we were given salvation because we believe (accepted, have faith, trust) and we have a responsibility to maintain it and God has provided everything we need in that of Jesus Christ. 205 | Is the bride of christ the church? | Eph 5:23 | WalkingTalkingBible | 143806
Ephesians 5:22- Yes, the bride of Christ is the Church. As Paul is speaking in this chapter about the relationship between a husband and his wife, he parallells it to Christ and the Church. Also, Revelation 21:9-14, the angel shows John the bride of the Lamb which is the Church (identified by the 12 angels(12 tribes of Israel) and the 12 foundations (12 apostles). WalkingTalkingBible |

206 | How do you avoid negative satan. | Phil 4:8 | WalkingTalkingBible | 127133
Hi Sweetee, these verses came to mind when I read your request 2 Corinthians 10:4-6: "(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled." Another is James 4:7: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Ephesians 6:12-18 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;" Isaiah 26:3: "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." 208 | is it wrong to wear fine clothing | 1 Tim 2:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 119187
Angel, you presented two very good points (among others): 1) being sanctified (separated) and 2) letting the Light of Christ be seen of others. I remember before I came to Christ, people would come try to tell me about getting saved and they looked just like me, as far as how they dressed (excessive jewelry, body piercings, tattoos, etc.). I don't even have a tattoo, imaging how much of a stumbling block it was for me to see Christ in them. I see now that some churches have thrown away the "separation" and "be ye holy" teachings of God and have begun compromising to get the world's attention. We have to keep in mind that God says, ". . .with lovingkindness have I drawn you" and that's what will draw the world. The church is a place for sinners to come and get cleaned up. If everyone were turned away because of their sinful lifestyles, there would be no one in the body of Christ. But when they come, they need to be loved and taught, and the same Jesus who cleaned us up, will clean them up. WalkingTalkingBible |

210 | Rowdy, Rowdy, are you sure? | 1 Tim 2:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 132083
PasserBy, I understand your view, but remember, conversion is a process. Those young women are making a transition, like we all are. Remember when God first saved you? Did you go from sinner to perfect saint? No, none of us do. It's a process. It seems that the church these young women are attending is providing the love (of God) needed to grow spiritually. If more churches would focus on loving, instead of preaching with condemnation all the time, more souls will be drawn to God. Just as God has patience and longsuffers with us, we must have patience and long suffer with other souls. Let's celebrate the fact that these young women have chosen Christ and let's pray for them that they fall in love with God to the point that they will make all the necessary sacrifices needed to walk successfully with Him. Freely you have received, freely give. Share what God has shared with you. WalkingTalkingBible |

EdB, that is exactly what I mean about preaching AT souls and not loving enough. I could not have explained it better. Very well put. I was a victim of being preached at and not loved at all. I knew the Bible, but what led me to Christ was when I found out how much He loves me. God Bless You WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi, Doc, when I used the word 'conversion' I was not speaking in theological terms. I do understand, however, that theologically, conversion has one meaning, and it's pertaining to the moment when one accepts Christ as Savior. I also understand that this is instantaneous. But in reality (spiritually), conversion also pertains to spiritual growth which is a process. When one accepts Christ as Savior, she doesn't immediately become holy. God teaches her to live holy. For example, when I first accepted Christ as Savior, I was full of pride, anger, and selfishness. Those sinful characteristics didn't just "fall off" when I accepted Salvation. As I grew closer to God, I was converted from prideful to humble. Later, I was converted from angry to peaceful, selfish to giving, hateful to loving. It's a process as I am being converted from the sin nature to holiness. And He's not finished with me, either. Holy is the very nature of God. I believe I'm safe in stating that no man has taken on the nature of God when Christ was accepted into his soul. However, I guess I could've used the word 'transition' but it means conversion! 2 Peter 1:4-8 "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." These don't all come in the instantaneous conversion, you obtain these characteristics of God as you walk faithfully with Him and are continually converted from the sin nature to holiness. What EdB responded concerning conversion and preaching - I could not have said it better. I didn't mean stop preaching. I mean that preaching and love has to line up with each other. God says that we are the light of the world. Light is silent. Our way of life should be a witness to others even when we are not preaching. A lot of people are preaching, but few are loving. God says He drew us with lovingkindness and that's the same compassion we ought to have for other souls. Let me know if you understand my position and thanks for responding. WalkingTalkingBible |

Hi, Kalos, I view theology as man's understanding of God. Theology is equal to religion while it is often defined as the study of religion and/or the study of God. I prefer not to know OF God but to have a relationship with Him and rely totally on divine revelation. Theology offers questionable theories on Salvation (where a one time confession and repentance is taught), being born again, Holy Ghost, and forgiveness. It heavily relies on the findings of man rather than revelation from God. Theology also encourages the research of man's findings rather than a personal relationship with God Who has all the answers about everything. I separate theology from reality because it deals with what man thinks God is about and reality is what the Spirit says. I don't believe that theology is all wrong, although very limiting, some of it is in line with the Truth. However, why deal with something that has a lot of holes in it when I can have a relationship with God and get the whole truth? When I don't know the answer to biblical questions, I seek God for the answer. I hesitate to go to websites and biblical scholastic findings for an answer. I don't want what man thinks, I want to KNOW God. I do believe that after God has given an answer it's okay to see what others say about the topic. This way you will already have the truth and won't be deceived by someone else's theory or belief. Because the Holy Ghost is our divine teacher and the known fallicies of theology, I am saying that one can have a healthy relationship with God without heavily relying on theological findings. Hi, Doc, thanks for sharing that testimony with me. I know some that follow the Baptist teachings (I'm not saying that all Baptists are this way) and they go to church as the "good thing to do." The ones I know don't trust God, don't go to church often, gamble, curse, fornicate, etc. I continue to live a Godly life before them instead of preaching at them all time. I also ask God to keep me humble so that I can love them unconditionally, like He loves me (I know I don't do everything right). Some of them are wondering how I was cruising the Caribbean last week and missed hurrican Ivan (I visited almost all of the islands hit and New Orleans!). They see the blessings of God in my life but have not yet figured out what the difference is. I pray that God will give them the mind to receive the truth. With the love of God, WalkingTalkingBible |

216 | What is it about the Gospel? | 2 Tim 1:12 | WalkingTalkingBible | 123846
Hi, Aixen7z4, the apostle Paul was persecuted by those Jews (Pharisees and Sadducees) who didn't accept Jesus as the Messiah and those who were against the teaching of (His) resurrection (Matthew 22:23; Acts 17:18,32). Paul was a Pharisee and the son of a Pharisee, who not only persecuted the followers of Christ, but had them exiled, put into prison, and killed, until He was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost (Acts 9). "Gospel" and "shame" do not seem to belong in the same sentence, but think of Christians (the real ones) today: how often does one spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to the unsaved? All of a sudden, they get scared to say something - maybe for fear of rejection or embarrassment. I wonder how many Christians would even openly confess Christ (even with bumber stickers, wearing crosses and T-shirts) if they knew that someone wanted to kill them or put them in prison if they mentioned His name? This is the shame Paul was talking about. He could've easily chosen to close his mouth and hide because so many wanted him silenced - even to death. Paul, regardless of what he was suffering by spreading an unpopular message, continued steadfastly in faith, doing the work of God, and was one of God's chosen used to lay the foundation of the Church. He is our example of how to walk in faith in times when we are led to witness, win souls, or spread the goodness of God - boldly! As it was mentioned to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7, we (true believers) were not given the spirit of fear. "Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." (Mark 8:38) Does this help any? WalkingTalkingBible |

217 | Ordaining Others... | 2 Tim 2:15 | WalkingTalkingBible | 121774
Hi, Justme! Very good post. While I understand the zeal to work for God, I also understand the importance of spiritual preparation. I've been called by God to be a teacher/evangelist (I didn't even know what an evangelist was when I was called, imagine if I had gone out trying to evangelize!!). However, the last thing I want to do is go out and teach people wrongly and become a stumbling block to others. I think what you said about being a "lone ranger" is very important. As I grow spiritually, I see the importance of staying under leadership: it teaches the soul subjection and humility - both are needed when commissioned by God, or else we'll be out there teaching of ourselves. Also, patience and long-suffering are important while you've been called to a ministry, but haven't been sent out yet. I learned that it doesn't matter how much zeal you have if you are not lead by the Holy Ghost, you are ineffective - a voice in the wilderness! WalkingTalkingBible |

218 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118230
Is it Scipture (the will of God) for a woman to be a bishop, pastor, or elder? 1 Timothy 3:1-7 state the qualifications for such positions. I understand that all believers are to preach the word, but I'm seeking for an understanding on the offices and a woman's role in them, and I'm only concerned with what God says. The reason for this concern is that these offices are ones that seem to be directed to the "head." Does "head" only pertain to a man in marriage? Can a woman, according to Scripture, be the "head" of a church? WalkingTalkingBible |

219 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118259
Thanks for taking time with my question. It has to be understood that the Corinthian church was predominantly new converts. They were operating in the gifts of the Spirit and there was some confusion. Since the Corinthian women were not well educated, they were advised to learn from their husbands at home (1 Corinthians 14:35). They were told to keep silent in the church out of obedience, they, too, had the gifts of the Spirit. Men, who spoke in tongues without an interpreter, were also to keep silent in church (1 Corinthians 14:28). I know women can hold the offices of Evangelist, Teacher, Prophetess, and Deaconess. These offices do not only serve women, but for the edification of all souls. Since "minister" means "to serve," I think of this to be more of a duty rather than a title and women and men believers are to be "ministers." But I'm still a little unsettled about women bishops, pastors, and elders; but it's almost clear that women in the latter positions is not Scripture. Thanks for your time, Fletch. 220 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118277
Thanks, Rex, this helps alot. I understand now, that, what's going on today is a lot of self and not enough truth. It takes the power of the Holy Ghost to submit yourself and not power in self. I see a lot of women being ordained as bishops, calling themselves elders and pastors, and it grieves my spirit. I want women to understand that "head" is a position that God ordains and not men (even though some men take it out of context). I understand now the role of a woman of God in the body of Christ is in no wise less important than the role of the man of God. They are just different and God made it this way. Brothers and sisters in the body of Christ must learn to love each other, regardless of a title or calling, and not make it seem like "if you're not the head, then you are less important." Thanks, again, Rex. WalkingTalkingBible |
