181 | i just dont understandthe verse. | Matt 1:1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 119196
Matthew 10:21, "And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death." Jesus had commissioned the disciples to go preach, "The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. (v.7)" They were to go to "the lost sheep of Israel" who were still under the law of Moses. They didn't know the Messiah had come and would be opposed to the teaching that He had come in the flesh. It is blasphemy under the law for anyone to say that he is God, and blasphemy was punishable by death. Telling these people would cause great division and that's what the verse is saying. See also Luke 12:51-53. Some would want to continue to live according to the law only and some would choose to follow Jesus, causing division. I hope this helps. WalkingTalkingBible |

182 | IM PREACHING ON SUNDAY!!................ | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 119194
Hi, SAZ! I know what you're dealing with. Last year I had to teach about being single and saved, and I didn't know what to say. So, first, I asked God to give me what He wanted me to tell His people (He, only, knows what they need to hear). Then I fasted, and as I fasted, I wrote down what I had learned from God being single and saved. Then, I received my message (the same day I was going to speak) and many received it. I think what is most important is that you rely on God to give you want He wants you to preach. Use your own experiences as a young single Christian and don't worry about what you think they might want to hear. For Scripture, I would use 2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 6:4, and Luke 1:37. I would back those up with the story of Rahab, the harlot who was saved, and her family (Joshua 2; 6:17,23-25; Hebrews 11:31) and the conversion of Saul (*to Paul, Acts 9). These are just what I would use, God may give you something totally different. I'm praying with you, WalkingTalkingBible |

183 | is it wrong to wear fine clothing | 1 Tim 2:9 | WalkingTalkingBible | 119187
Angel, you presented two very good points (among others): 1) being sanctified (separated) and 2) letting the Light of Christ be seen of others. I remember before I came to Christ, people would come try to tell me about getting saved and they looked just like me, as far as how they dressed (excessive jewelry, body piercings, tattoos, etc.). I don't even have a tattoo, imaging how much of a stumbling block it was for me to see Christ in them. I see now that some churches have thrown away the "separation" and "be ye holy" teachings of God and have begun compromising to get the world's attention. We have to keep in mind that God says, ". . .with lovingkindness have I drawn you" and that's what will draw the world. The church is a place for sinners to come and get cleaned up. If everyone were turned away because of their sinful lifestyles, there would be no one in the body of Christ. But when they come, they need to be loved and taught, and the same Jesus who cleaned us up, will clean them up. WalkingTalkingBible |

184 | Did God create all evil in Isa. 45:5-7 | Bible general Archive 2 | WalkingTalkingBible | 119096
The evil spoken of in Isaiah 45:5-7 is calamity, as physical and not moral. We have no control over tornadoes, earthquakes, some sicknesses, etc. We do have the choice to sin or not. God didn't let Satan take over the world, man did by sinning against God. When God created man, He created him in His image (Jesus) and His likeness (without sin) and gave him dominion over everything on earth (Genesis 26-28). When man sinned, dominion was lost to the devil and the sin separated man from God (Isaiah 59:2). Because of His love for man, Jesus gave His life so that man can be reconciled back to God if he chooses Him as Savior. WalkingTalkingBible |

186 | Let your women keep silent? | 1 Corinthians | WalkingTalkingBible | 118885
I believe 1 Corinthians also applies to churches today. A woman (and men) should keep silent in reverence to the the one(s) God has called to lead the church. For example, in prayer service, where the bishop or preacher is leading the service, I notice a lot of women speaking in tongues and praying very loud so that the preacher can't be heard. This is not orderly. In the Corinthian church, which was predominantly new converts, they were blessed with the gifts of the Spirit. The problem was that the women were speaking over the men and it caused a lot of confusion. That's why they were told to keep silent in the church (also, the men were told to keep silent if there were no interpreters). Everything has to be done decently and in order. Women can speak in church, as long as it is orderly (when called to speak by the preacher). I do not believe 1 Corinthians 14 should be used to tell women that they should not speak at all in the church. WalkingTalkingBible |

187 | what makes you a prophet? | 1 Corinthians | WalkingTalkingBible | 118881
For the our age, church age (dispensation of Grace), one who operates in the gift of prophesy - it is a gift of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:4, 10, 28 - 31). It is also called a "calling" (Ephesians 4:1-4, 11-12) in which God reveals divine messages to the prophet to be told to the members of the body of Christ. This message would be something that only God can know, as opposed to psychics who only speak of what has already been spoken. To a prophet God reveals things to come and those things come to pass. In our dispensation, a prophesy is spoken for our spiritual growth, our service to souls, and edification (Ephesians 4:11-12). WalkingTalkingBible |

Backsliders are ones who were once living according to the will of God and turned again back to their worldly and carnal ways. "Believe" means more than "what one feels is right" or what one's beliefs are." To spiritually believe is to be fully committed to, fully accept, to fully trust (look up the greek word for "believe" in the concordance) God. You have a choice to live according to the will of God or not. Someone who has returned from following God back to the "world" is considered a backslider. Israel received the label "backsliding" because they had turned from the ways of God to serving idols and practicing sin. If salvation (being delivered) was a one time deal, then we wouldn't need the Holy Ghost. We wouldn't need to die daily to ourselves. We wouldn't have to resist the devil. We wouldn't have to abstain from every appearance of sin. Eternal life in John 3:16 means that those who are committed to (and remain committed to) the Word of God (Jesus) will have eternal life. But if you return to practicing sin, and you die (or the Rapture takes place) you will still have eternal life, just not with God. (Proverbs 14:14; Jeremiah 2:19; 3:6,8,11-12,14,22; 5:6; 8:5; 14:7; 31:22; 49:4; Hosea 4:16; 11:7; 14:4; Ezekiel 33) WalkingTalkingBible |

189 | what passages bind and rebuke satan | NT general Archive 1 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118838
Hank, I put that in there (with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance) because there are many that speak in tongues but the tongues are not from God. Speaking in tongues is the initial sign to the other people of God that the believer has received the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:4; 10:44-46; 19:6). The believer knows that the Holy Ghost is dwelling in them because there is a change in the way of life. And I agree, the fruits of the Spirit are far better evidence of the indwelling of the Holy Ghost than tongues. I know some people who spoke in tongues when they were filled with the Holy Ghost and then they went back to their worldly ways. Some churches today have tarrying services to help "seekers" receive the Holy Ghost. I don't really agree or disagree with it, but I know you can receive the Holy Ghost anywhere and not just in a tarrying service. Speaking in tongues, other than the gift, has nothing to do with your spiritual walk. WalkingTalkingBible |

EdB, sorry, I don't mean to ignore the other issues, I don't remember what they are, so I can't say that I agree or disagree. It doesn't seem like you are seeking understanding. It seems more like you are trying to prove me wrong. I say that because I have given you scriptures on everything but "pleading the blood," and you have chosen not to accept what was given. I pray that your understanding will be opened, and I hope you are truly praying for me with the best interest of my soul at heart. While we are all on different faith levels, it is not of God to slander one another, or judge one anther based on what we think we know. No one will get a "diploma" in holiness, we're all trying to make it to be with God. When I see someone is unable to understand at the time, I don't keep plucking away at them. I know "some sow, some water, but God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6-8)." Neither do I say that they are being falsely taught because I don't know their hearts, only God does. I don't know everything, so I can't say what everyone else is saying is false, unless it is not according to Scripture. If you carefully read my answers, you will find that I never said anything about "saints binding Satan." I haven't found the bible to directly say, "plead the blood," but I know that I am saved by the blood of Jesus - no one else's blood was good enough. I know that there is power in the Name of Jesus. If you read Mark 16:17-18, you'll see that believers will be enabled to do the works that Jesus did. Jesus says in John 14:12, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." In the beginning of Acts, the Holy Ghost was poured out on believers. After that, throughout Acts, we see miracles, healings, and demons being cast out. They worked many "miracles and signs." Well, we have this same power through our faith and commitment to Jesus, who was God in the flesh. Casting out demons is a process which includes binding. Demons do not work apart from Satan, so what they do are his works. That's where the phrase, "bind the works of Satan" comes from. I know that whatever you do against the enemy, you must be covered by the blood of Jesus and I know that every spirit is subject to the name of Jesus. I wouldn't try to bind and rebuke anything without having Jesus living in me! If you are filled with the Holy Ghost (with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance) then you have the same power (through Jesus). If the Old Testament can be applied to our lives, why is it so hard to apply the New Testament to our lives? WalkingTalkingBible |

While Salvation is a gift (and a Wonderful gift indeed!), it is a conditional one. Understanding that Salvation, or deliverance, is only through Jesus, we have to acknowledge what He is offering deliverance from. First, there's the deliverance from the bondage of sin. You hit it on the nose: Satan can only present, but we have a choice whether to sin or not. Also, we are empowered by the Spirit of God, Who now dwells in believers, not to sin. Before we are saved, we are overcome by the power of sin. We had no power, in ourselves, against it. Now that we are saved, we have power, not in ourselves, but through Jesus, who now lives in us. In John 10:28-29, Jesus spake of His sheep in eternity past (My Father, which gave them to Me - this is before He even went to the cross, so Salvation hadn't been offered to Gentiles, yet there are going to be both Gentiles and more Jews that will be added to the sheepfold). Which brings us to the second thing we are delivered from and that's death, or eternal separation from God. This is what makes Salvation eternal. Matthew 10:22b says, "but he that endureth to the end shall be saved." This is why we must die daily, if we turn from righteousness and return to sin, we are no longer considered delivered (Ezekiel 18:26-28). However, Salvation is offered to all who are willing to turn from sin and submit to the will of God. We have to continue to submit ourselves to the will of God. As far as Satan and rebuking, binding, what have you, sin is the power through which Satan works. Yes, he is limited by God on what he can do, because he is not in control, God is at all times. But God is the Power that works in the believer against the powers of Satan. 2 Corinthians 10:4-6 tell US to pull down the strong holds . . . Who is it that present these actions? Yes, Satan! This is who we now have the power, through Jesus, to fight. It's not the people who come against us (and sometimes each other), it's Satan and the spirits that follow him (Ephesians 6:12). Jesus didn't suffer, die, and resurrect so that He can have power over the enemy, He already has it. He did it for us. WalkingTalkingBible |

Salvation is eternal? So are you saying, once saved always saved? What about backsliders? Will they go to the kingdom of God just because they were once saved? So God has Satan on stand-by and everytime we "mess up" He let's him get us (a little to bring us back to humility)? If Salvation is once and for all, why are we in a spiritual warfare? Why do we have to worry about the flesh and its desires if Salvation is a "one-time deal?" Knowing that Jesus IS our protector and mediator, why, then do we have trials and tribulations? Because we're being punished for something we've done? The works of the devil are unbound through sin. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for its sin, why then is that same sin present today? Isn't it more than just the flesh and it's desires? I want to encourage a deeper, Holy Ghost led - study and understanding of the truth for all of us (especially me, as I am learning something new everyday). WalkingTalkingBible |

EdB, I only gave passages. Nowhere in my answer did I say, "We can bind Satan." Satan will be bound sometime after the Rapture (Revelation 20:2). We can bind the works of Satan, in the Name of Jesus (1 Corinthians 10:13; Jeremiah 1:10). We can also plead the blood of Jesus over ours lives and others, taking the authority over the devil that was given to us when we were filled with the Holy Ghost. In Jude 9, Michael rebuked Satan by simply saying, "the Lord rebuke you." Let's understand revile: it means to "downtalk" or "slander." We, as children of God, don't have to downtalk or slander Satan (or anyone else), it's a waste of time and breath, since he's already defeated. 2 Peter 2:10-14 is a good example of how worthless it is to downtalk or slander spirits of the devil. Again, they are already defeated. Luke 10:19 is when the disciples were given power for what Jesus had charged them to do. But we, as children of God, have also been given power, through that of the Holy Ghost, to do what He has charged us, which is no different than what the disciples were given (Mark 16:17-18). Remember, EdB, when we are no longer bound by the power of sin and death, the devil becomes our enemy. We are not fighting against people and circumstances anymore, we are now in a spiritual war against the devil and his spirits (Ephesians 6:12). You might ask "what are we in a war over?" We are fighting to keep our souls saved and our eternity with God secure and God has given us the power and authority to do so. In no way will Satan walk all over a child of God who knows Whose he/she is and who he/she is in Him. If you think I'm getting too much junk, please pray for me. WalkingTalkingBible |

Matthew 16:18-19 says, "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock [the Revelation of Christ] I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Matthew 4:1-11 shows us how Jesus rebuked and resisted the devil by using the Word. Jude 9 shows Michael, the archangel, rebuking Satan Mark 16:17 shows us that in the Name of Jesus there is power against the devil. "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover Luke 10:19 says "Behold, I give unto you power [authority] to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you." I know there are more. . . WalkingTalkingBible |

195 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118277
Thanks, Rex, this helps alot. I understand now, that, what's going on today is a lot of self and not enough truth. It takes the power of the Holy Ghost to submit yourself and not power in self. I see a lot of women being ordained as bishops, calling themselves elders and pastors, and it grieves my spirit. I want women to understand that "head" is a position that God ordains and not men (even though some men take it out of context). I understand now the role of a woman of God in the body of Christ is in no wise less important than the role of the man of God. They are just different and God made it this way. Brothers and sisters in the body of Christ must learn to love each other, regardless of a title or calling, and not make it seem like "if you're not the head, then you are less important." Thanks, again, Rex. WalkingTalkingBible |

196 | description appear in the old testament | Rev 1:14 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118263
Nothing describing His race or nationality. All we know is that Jesus was Jewish. I agree totally with Rowdy's response. Titus 3:9 (KJV) says, "But avoid foolish questions, and GENEALOGIES, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain." I understand that knowing Jesus' race is worthless to our salvation and His love. WalkingTalkingBible |

197 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Titus 2:4 | WalkingTalkingBible | 118259
Thanks for taking time with my question. It has to be understood that the Corinthian church was predominantly new converts. They were operating in the gifts of the Spirit and there was some confusion. Since the Corinthian women were not well educated, they were advised to learn from their husbands at home (1 Corinthians 14:35). They were told to keep silent in the church out of obedience, they, too, had the gifts of the Spirit. Men, who spoke in tongues without an interpreter, were also to keep silent in church (1 Corinthians 14:28). I know women can hold the offices of Evangelist, Teacher, Prophetess, and Deaconess. These offices do not only serve women, but for the edification of all souls. Since "minister" means "to serve," I think of this to be more of a duty rather than a title and women and men believers are to be "ministers." But I'm still a little unsettled about women bishops, pastors, and elders; but it's almost clear that women in the latter positions is not Scripture. Thanks for your time, Fletch. 199 | Does God ordain women bishops? | Not Specified | WalkingTalkingBible | 118219
Is it Scipture (the will of God) for a woman to be a bishop, pastor, or elder? 1 Timothy 3:1-7 state the qualifications for such positions. I understand that all believers are to preach the word, but I'm seeking for an understanding on the offices and a woman's role in them, and I'm only concerned with what God says. The reason for this concern is that these offices are ones that seem to be directed to the "head." Does "head" only pertain to a man in marriage? Can a woman, according to Scripture, be the "head" of a church? WalkingTalkingBible |
