941 | Bingo! Gambleing! | 2 Tim 1:1 | Val | 213923
There is a verse that says something to the effect that there are some things that are not wrong but they are not profitable. It is written by Paul who compares the christian's walk as a race. One who runs in a race puts aside those things that would hinder his race. Many things come under this verse such as drinking, smoking, gambling, overeating, etc. Do a word study on profitable or read the epistles of the Apostle Paul. Sincerely, Val |

942 | References that deal with "a sane mind"? | 2 Tim 1:7 | Val | 209010
2 Tim 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. This verse is good for one who has fears. There are chemical imbalances that people may have who would need to go to get help in the medical community. Of course go to the Lord in prayer first. |

If you do not have any other problems with your pastor, let it go. If you cannot, then move on to another congregation where you feel more accepted. Titus 3:1 Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed, Titus 3:2 to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men. |

946 | negative self concept | 2 Tim 2:15 | Val | 195996
There is good news for you. God can take care of any problem. First look inward to see if there is any disobedience or sinful behavior that needs to be dealt with. Proverbs 28:13 says "He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." If you have never received Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior, that would be the first step to having peace. Freedom from guilt is included in Jesus' death on the cross, but we must trust Him to cleanse us. Read and study the Bible beginning with the gospels. Begin the habit of daily prayer confessing all present sins and asking for forgiveness and cleansing. Thank God for taking away the sin and guilt. Find a Bible-teaching church and begin to go regularly where you will hear and study God's Word. I pray you will find peace. If you continue to struggle seek out a pastor of a Bible-teaching church. Ephesians 2:14 "He Himself is our peace" |
