2 | Fare thee well | Not Specified | TheFinalSQL | 113257
Fare thee well. I did not even have to ask my Pastor if I should be here. He answered it plainly in Bible class last night. I have got exactly what I needed from this site. A confirmation of what I need to do and the direction to go. I thank you one and all. Psalms 150:1-6 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Brother Norm |

Currently, it is impossible to know, because the calendaring system used by the Hebrews in the Old Testament is unknown. There are a few month names mentioned. i.e. Ex 13:4 On this day in the month of Abib, you are about to go forth. By the time of the New Testament the Babylonians/Greeks had much influence on the calendar, thus the Old Testament Hebrew calendar is lost. Here is a good site for info about calendars in the Bible: http://www.bible-history.com/jewishyear/jewishyear_nelson_s_illustrated_bible_dictionary.html Norm |

This is the first site I posted to in relation to the Bible since. I look through the posts and give an answer where I can. I find plenty of wonderful exchanges of quesions and answers here. I invite you to ask a question relevant to the points you brought up or answer some. Enjoy this site. Praise the Lord! Norm |

Re 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. If it's PI you want. PI you will get. 1Ki 7:23 And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about. PI is the circumference of a circle divided by the diameter. Using the information from the quoted scripture above, that would give a result of 3, 30/10. However, if we delve into the Hebrew words used we find something very interesting, specifically for the word line. If we look this verse up in Strong's Concordance the word line has three numbers: line [06957] (8675) [06961] The number in the middle, 8675 tells about the other 2. Basically, what has happened in such a case is the original writer used an unusual form of the word. Translators kept the unusual form, but also added the usual form of the word. I am glad they did. 06961 or qaveh is the unusual form of the word line. You will find it is used only three times in the Bible. 06957 or qav is the usual form found 21 times. The Hebrews did not have separate characters for numbers and letters. Characters in their langauge represented both numbers and letters. If we take the ratio of the gematriacal value of each form of the word line, qaveh being 111 and qav being 106 111/106 gives the ratio 1.0471698113207547169811320754717 Multiply that by the original ratio from the circumference to diameter, 3 and you get: 3.1415094339622641509433962264151 That is PI correct to 4 decimal places. Praise the Lord! Norm P.S. Here is an online Strong's Concordance I find very useful: http://www.blueletterbible.org/search.html |

1Co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1Thess 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1Thess 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 9 | who created satan? other names for him.. | Bible general Archive 2 | TheFinalSQL | 107314
God created satan. God created everything. Read Eze 28:11-19. 15 tells us God created him: Eze 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. Satan has been since the beginning: John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. Some names, titles, descriptions for satan: Serpent - Genesis 3:1 Anointed cherub that covereth - Ezekiel 28:14 Lucifer, son of the morning - Isaiah 14:12 Dragon, old serpent, Devil - Revelations 20:10 Leviathan - Job 41:1 Praise the Lord! In 1 Corinthians 14. The MacArthur Study Bible does a very good job in explaining. I'll add an excerpt at the end. Speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance is not the same as the gift of tongues. Praise the Lord! Norm MacArthur Study Bible for 1 Corinthians 14:2-39 14:2–39 Although it is not indicated consistently in some translations, the distinction between the singular tongue and the plural tongues is foundational to the proper interpretation of this chapter. Paul seems to use the singular to distinguish the counterfeit gift of pagan gibberish and the plural to indicate the genuine gift of a foreign language (see note on v. 2). It was perhaps in recognition of that, that the King James Version (KJV) translators added consistently the word “unknown” before every singular form (see vv. 2, 4, 13, 14, 19, 27). The implications of that distinction will be noted as appropriate. Against the backdrop of carnality and counterfeit ecstatic speech learned from the experience of the pagans, Paul covers 3 basic issues with regard to speaking in languages by the gift of the Holy Spirit: 1) its position, inferior to prophecy (vv. 1–19); 2) its purpose, a sign to unbelievers not believers (vv. 20–25); and 3) its procedure, systematic, limited, and orderly (vv. 26–40). 15 | Trinity Doctrine? | Bible general Archive 2 | TheFinalSQL | 107915
Excellent question. Read it, MT 28:19 in comparsion to the great comission in the other gospels: (KJV) Lu 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Mr 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Something you did leave out in your question is the name. Mt 28:19 says to baptize in the name. What is the name of the Father? What is the name of the Son? What is the name of the Holy Ghost/Spirit? Matthew 1:18, John 5:43, John 14:26 Jesus said in Matthew 28:18 "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." If these are three persons, how much power does the Father have? How much power does the Holy Ghost have? I think the biggest confusion is "Who is Jesus?" The Son and the Father prior to the cross were two separate entities. However, that is not the case now. Isa 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. 23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. Is God above Lord? Isa 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. No, God is Lord. Is the name of our Lord Jesus Christ? Mine is. NASB Rev 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty." The quoted portion of the scripture about is Jesus's words in red. Jesus said in this verse that he is the Almighty. Praise the Lord! Thank you Jesus! Norm |

17 | EXODUS 28 :30 KJV | Bible general Archive 2 | TheFinalSQL | 108713
28:30 Urim and the Thummim. The etymological source of these two terms, as well as the material nature of the objects represented by them, cannot be established with any degree of finality. Clearly two separate objects were inserted into the breastplate and became thereby an essential part of the High-Priest’s official regalia. Aaron and his successors bore over their heart “the judgment of the children of Israel,” i.e., “judgment” in the sense of giving a verdict or decision. The passages in which the terms appear (Lev. 8:8; Num. 27:21; Deut. 33:8; 1 Sam 28:6; Ezra 2:63; Neh. 7:65) and those which record inquiries of the Lord when a High-Priest with the ephod was present (Josh. 9:14; Judg. 1:1, 2; 20:18; 1 Sam. 10:22; 23:2, 4, 10–12; 1 Chr. 10:14) allow for the following conclusions: 1) that these two objects represented the right of the High-Priest to request guidance for the acknowledged leader who could not approach God directly, as Moses had done, but had to come via the God-ordained priestly structure, and 2) that the revelation then received gave specific direction for an immediate problem or crisis, and went beyond what could be associated with some sort of sacred lots providing merely a wordless “yes” and “no” response.
