81 | The Biblical achilles heal | Luke 17:3 | TheFinalSQL | 120335
There is a big difference between an apology and repentance. Esau was sorry, apologizing in his way, to the point of tears, but he did not repent and Jesus did not forgive him. The definition of repentance/repent seems to be your sticking pont. Perhaps Paul from 2 Corithians can assist you. Here is part of chapter 7: 2 Corinthians 7:9-11 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. I think the 7 times in one day is an extreme example. Going through through 7 cycles of the above in one day would be quite a roller coaster ride of emotions to say the least. I believe Jesus gave that number to express that there is no limit. If you repent you will be forgiven. If you do not repent Jesus will not forgive you. Praise the Lord! Norm |

83 | The Unity of Faith, Hope and Love | 1 Cor 13:13 | TheFinalSQL | 120258
From Easton's Dictionary: Hope one of the three main elements of Christian character (1Co 13:13). It is joined to faith and love, and is opposed to seeing or possessing (Ro 8:24; 1Jo 3:2). "Hope is an essential and fundamental element of Christian life, so essential indeed, that, like faith and love, it can itself designate the essence of Christianity (1Pe 3:15; Heb 10:23). In it the whole glory of the Christian vocation is centred (Eph 1:18; 4:4)." Unbelievers are without this hope (Eph 2:12; 1Th 4:13). Christ is the actual object of the believer's hope, because it is in his second coming that the hope of glory will be fulfilled (1Ti 1:1; Col 1:27; Tit 2:13). It is spoken of as "lively", i.e., a living, hope, a hope not frail and perishable, but having a perennial life (1Pe 1:3). In Ro 5:2 the "hope" spoken of is probably objective, i.e., "the hope set before us," namely, eternal life (comp. Ro 12:12). In 1Jo 3:3 the expression "hope in him" ought rather to be, as in the Revised Version, "hope on him," i.e., a hope based on God. Praise the Lord! Norm |

84 | Jesus said Don't Tell" about my miracle | Dan 9:25 | TheFinalSQL | 120255
In studying this you may find there are several decrees to rebuild the temple. However, with Daniel 9:25 the prophecy deals with the city Jerusalem being rebuilt, as found in Nehemiah. Even though Jesus probably knew the exact time to proclaim himself publically, he did not force this belief onto others, such as Judas to bring this to a conclusion. Praise the Lord! Norm |

85 | Jesus said Don't Tell" about my miracle | Dan 9:25 | TheFinalSQL | 120249
Very good question. Luke 8:56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done. Matthew 16:20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ. This is why: Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. We find in Nehemiah the decree to rebuild Jerusalem: Nehemiah 2:8 And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king's forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me. In Luke we find the Messiah: Luke 19:38-40 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. Before you try to add up those weeks, the definition of weeks from the Hebrew shabuwa, should be noted(1B): 1) seven, period of seven (days or years), heptad, week A) period of seven days, a week a) Feast of Weeks B) heptad, seven (of years) Jesus would not proclaim himself publicly until the prophecy would be fulfilled. 87 | existence of hell | Is 5:14 | TheFinalSQL | 120017
Isaiah written long, long before 800 AD. Isaiah 5:8-17 Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth! In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant. Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah. Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands. Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness. Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat. Praise the Lord! Norm |

Will Jesus forgive you if you do not repent? Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: Esau was not forgiven: Hebrews 12:16-17 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. Praise the Lord! Norm |

90 | Can God Bless America? | Prov 14:34 | TheFinalSQL | 119654
Psalms 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. The USA has taken prayer out of the schools. The USA has taken the ten commandments out of courthouses. The USA has taken every opportunity to invoke this idea of separation of church and state. Our nation no longer has God as LORD. Unless it does I do not think the LORD will bless this nation. It's a good thing salvation is an individual experience: Acts 2:40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Praise the Lord! Norm |

91 | Evidence of the Holy Spirit | John 3:8 | TheFinalSQL | 119652
John 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 16:7-15 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. 93 | What were the Urim and Thumim? | Ex 28:30 | TheFinalSQL | 119628
28:30 Urim and the Thummim. The etymological source of these two terms, as well as the material nature of the objects represented by them, cannot be established with any degree of finality. Clearly two separate objects were inserted into the breastplate and became thereby an essential part of the High-Priest’s official regalia. Aaron and his successors bore over their heart “the judgment of the children of Israel,” i.e., “judgment” in the sense of giving a verdict or decision. The passages in which the terms appear (Lev. 8:8; Num. 27:21; Deut. 33:8; 1 Sam 28:6; Ezra 2:63; Neh. 7:65) and those which record inquiries of the Lord when a High-Priest with the ephod was present (Josh. 9:14; Judg. 1:1, 2; 20:18; 1 Sam. 10:22; 23:2, 4, 10–12; 1 Chr. 10:14) allow for the following conclusions: 1) that these two objects represented the right of the High-Priest to request guidance for the acknowledged leader who could not approach God directly, as Moses had done, but had to come via the God-ordained priestly structure, and 2) that the revelation then received gave specific direction for an immediate problem or crisis, and went beyond what could be associated with some sort of sacred lots providing merely a wordless “yes” and “no” response. 95 | why isn't the fourth commandment kept? | Ex 20:8 | TheFinalSQL | 119518
Here is another, we enter into the rest by believing in Jesus Christ: Hebrews 4:1-10 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Praise the Lord! Norm Praise the Lord! |

96 | why isn't the fourth commandment kept? | Ex 20:8 | TheFinalSQL | 119510
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Galatians 4:8-11 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. Praise the Lord! Norm |

98 | Does the OT apply to us as christians? | Bible general Archive 2 | TheFinalSQL | 118446
You ask the question of the OT, but your answer deals with the law. The OT does apply to us as Christians, scripture in the Bible is the old testament. The new had not been written. The only exception may be Peter talking about Paul's Epistles in 2 Peter 3:15,16 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. Acts 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, Acts 17:10-11 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Here are the keys(power and authority) Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And Philip with this understanding he received of the sciptures, the old testament he was able to preach Jesus: Acts 8:26-40 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth: In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea. Praise the Lord! Norm |

99 | if Jesus died on Friday and rose Sunday | John | TheFinalSQL | 118445
Jesus died on the preparation day(the day before the sabbath) John 19:31-33 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: He rose on the first day of the week(the day after the sabbath): John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. To help understand how time is viewed: Genesis 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. The preparation day begins on our Thursday evening. The first day of the week is Sunday. Now you may say that Thursday to Sunday is 4 days, but remember, it is 3 Hebrew days and 3 Hebrew nights.
