65 | Is baptism a work? | NT general Archive 1 | Teacher | 66321
Dear CWADE, it is funny you should say this, "If baptism was REQUIRED to achieve salvation, then Paul should have said, "Believe and be baptized and you will be saved." But, he didn't." Didn't Jesus say this exact thing in Mark 16:16, "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned"? How is this explained?
66 | Is baptism a work? | NT general Archive 1 | Teacher | 66312
I hear so much debate about baptism. Is it a work? Is it a requirement for salvation? Are we saved before baptism? On, and on, and on... My question is, with so much that is said about baptism in the bible, the examples of conversion, the answers Peter and Paul give to the questions, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" and "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" (Acts 2:37, 16:30 respectively) can someone explain to me scripturally whether baptism is necessary or not for salvation? If it is, why? If it is not, why?
67 | Unforgivable sin | Romans | Teacher | 66308
Thank you. The information in this post is most helpful. What about those who believe in unconditional election though? If a person is elected by God to salvation yet blasphemes the H.S. how will it end?
68 | Unforgivable sin | Romans | Teacher | 66196
Henri, thank you. You did answer half of my question which involves what blaspheming the Holy Spirit is. I agree that if someone rejects God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the word we have teaching us about all three, that there cannot be any forgiveness for such a person. The second half of my question is why is it an unforgivable sin? If I behave in such a way as the first part of this post and reject God and all He is about but then by some miracle I change, I repent, and obey the rest of God's will, can I not be forgiven for even this sin?

What exactly is involved in "blaspheming against the Holy Spirit" and why is it an unforgivable sin?
70 | 1/3 of the angels | Is 14:12 | Teacher | 66185
Read Isaiah 14.12-21 This passage talks of Lucifer being cast down to Sheol and the "lowest depths of the Pit" but doesn't say anything about angels being taken with him. Further down in Revelation 12:9 there is more about it too. The 1/3 could be figurative for a good part of the total but who really knows how many angels there are?
