341 | Anybody know of a church in Silverdale? | Acts 2:1 | Tamara Brewington | 204324
Say you guys I need help with something. I have a friend out there in Silverdale Washington who is seeking Christ and needs to go to church to hear the gospel. Now don't get ruffled by what I am about to say y'all. Does anybody know of a church of whatever denomination that does not believe that salvation consists of Jesus plus? I mean Jesus plus baptism, or good works, or lawkeeping, or constant scripture study to keep the Holy Spirit, or speaking in tongues as evidence of salvation and so on as a second requirment to get saved... I looked on the web, but maybe someone from Washington State, my former home knows of a church like this whichever denomination? Thanks the Hat Lady |

342 | Define wine, please? | Rev 17:2 | Tamara Brewington | 204314
Whatever you want to do about curtailing a discussion is fine, I won't bother to answer you then about it then... You ain't too interested in a rebuttal I can tell. I appreciate your insight, how's that? I do have to disagree with you though, I think it is important to have free discourse about Biblical concepts, doctrines and so on based on the scriptures and our intrepretation of them. But I respect your right to cut short any further discourse just the same.. Maybe next time if you don't want think it is profitable to discuss something further you could refrain form asking questions while at the same time saying let's let it go (we understand what a rhetorical question is..., but asking one and then saying let's not get into it may have an unintended barb in it somewhere). God bless, Tamara |

I heartily agree Lionheart! Do you have the scriptureanalyzer4all? It has the original language word order for Greek and English with lexical components... You probably know of the esword and www.esword.net and have that. But do you have the legitimate modules for it that are not on their home page site? If you want, email me at whatdoyoubelieve@hotmail.com and I will send you three links... Oh wanna laugh? I rushed out the house this morning after leaving you a note saying I was late for first Sunday... Stupid git, went flying down the street in a white hat and suit for communion and was the only one wearing white in church!... OH MY Gosh, I was wilting all through service pondering seriously about externals............. Then it was time to usher and I felt stupid in white because the other usher was wearing black and had to remind myself I was serving the Lord, not there for a fashion show. Laugh out Loud.................... God Bless, the hat lady |

I am seeing four; Release from demon possession: Mathew 12:22,23 Luke 11:14 - salvation makes you holy. Resurrection from the dead: Luke 7:11-17, John 11:1-45 - salvation gives eternal life. Release from physical infirmity: Mathew 9:27-31, luke 17:11-21, John 5:1-9 - salvation cures the incurable, restores spiritual sight, restores one's spiritual abilities. Prophecy: Mathew 24:4-14,Mark 10:32-34, Mark 14:27-31 - salvation restores man to a right relationship with God. I like Sunday School Bible quizzes, they make me work, don't stop posting them please. Oh Yeah geez louise... My Pastor is another one... My Pastor made me go take Greek, said, you are ready go do it... My school has a couple prerequisites, had to take Greek Foundations 1,2, before taking NT Greek, haven't taken the NT yet... That stuff is no joke, believe me the demons come out when you go to learn this stuff, they do not want anyone to learn the truth! I am terrible at it though, it is very, very difficult to learn to read a language in different letters... I am in awe of folks that have deicated their lives to learning the original languages, it makes a great big difference when it comes to expository preaching and teaching, sure does... I told my Pastor about this site in the hopes he might find the time while on vacation this summer to teach on line, there is another gem set in pure gold, God blessed our church while we were searching for a pastor. I was glad and surprised when Pastor Moran put his title in his stats and his email too... I Timothy 3:16,17 God Bless the hat lady... |

Dear Tim, I am intrigued... Pray tell, which recources.. Like an idiot I glanced at the concordance and did not look closely enough to see that there was more than the most prominent number for wine... If you were using another resource, pray do tell what it was, I love to collect and use new Bible tools in my endeavor to be learning more. I haven't had the time until today but I am definitely going to go to your stats and spend the time to learn a few new things... God Bless, Tamara |

347 | Why can't I speak in tongues yet ? | Acts | Tamara Brewington | 204301
Oh My John, so very patient with me, forgive me as I chatter a bit here. LOL. I just thought of the scripture that keeps floating back to me in here I Corinthians 13... I was laughing at hats (oops there is that nasty word again) flying through the air at the rapture myself though (so much for so called unwarranted humor...). I take myself and others way too seriously sometimes, oops here comes another scripture in the middle of my chatter;Romans 12:3 For through the peace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. The hatchet was buried between me and everybody as soon as I got on my knees the other day to ask forgiveness in my part of all of it before forgiving everyone else. You know what? Let me tell you something about the dreaded issue of hats and the issue of being a computer twit to wit, they ain't half as important as the love of Christ bewtween us all. I am a novice a new jack whose life got ruined worse than it was the day I woke up from a comma and decided, since He commanded me to live and go back out and bring Him fruit, to go do just that. On fire for the Lord, scriptures are my life, without them I have no anchor, through the blurr of a ruined mind they were there, they proved themselves to be absolutely solid. John as soon as you were answering me back again, I was sooo relieved that you were willing to teach me some more. I have a great pastor/teacher and a good church family, but there are plenty good teachers around in the body of Christ and when you find some gems that have been polished for a while you just want to soak up every word... You weren't harping John, you are being more than patient with me, so are Val and Lionheart and Azure and Hank and Searcher and Cheri and the others. I get impatient about the word, I need to chillax as my son likes to say, Mom chillax. There is time in God, I am saved, let God work things out, we are all one giant organism spread from China to the USA and beyond. I notice you end your posts with Shalom, not judging. There are so many denominations with different doctrines and I try not to judge others if they actually believe in the blood of Jesus for forgiveness of sin, I believe they are saved. Some might not agree because of the Jesus plus theory, you know, Jesus plus baptism, Jesus plus a priest, Jesus plus works, Jesus plus the law, Jesus plus add nauseum. But I had the priveledge of having a Cathholic doctor who asked me if I believed in the blood of Jesus to forgive sins after waking up out of that comma. And he was asking because I was dying and I told him I was a child of the most high God and what Jesus told me while I was under. He said then ask Him for a miracle or you will die soon, I don't care what denomination you are go pray on the blood. 40 days and 40 nights later I was miraculously healed and out of there after praying something the Holy Spirit spoke into my heart. I have a high and healthy respect for the blood of Jesus to save from sin and His stripes to heal from deathly illness. I don't care that the doctor was Catholic and I believe since he believes first and foremost in the blood of Jesus that he is going to heaven. I got to be a Baptist quite by accident and after learning a bit more than I knew decided I agreed with the basic tenents of that denomination and stayed. But I have fellowshipped with my brother's church, Church of Christ and had a very good time (both types of that denomination, with and without music, my brother switched around a bit). I am saying all this by way of leaning on the blood above tradition (there goes that aspect of the dreaded subject again) or denomination. I think that each denomination has a lot right and a few things all wrong including mine because we ain't God and we can't get it right in our present state. What is graceful about you, (whoops I have been chatting!) John, is the love of Christ in you towards me and the ability to put up with my crap and teach me at the same time. That's grace. Thanks for everything and your prayers too, God Bless, the hat lady |

348 | Why can't I speak in tongues yet ? | Acts | Tamara Brewington | 204290
Thanks Hank! Lionheart told me to guard my heart! I will be praying aout that... I had to laugh for a while after learning how to follow a thread... I saw that sometimes the old timers hunker down into a serious back and forth study and sometimes digress into heartfelt obvious chatter! I was laughing so hard after being told that my posts were like unto chatter with the fact that at that time I kept including exploration into the scriptures that folks sent in reply to questions... Go figure I later gave up trying to believe that some would be addressing the scriptures in my questions and did not include scriptures or contexts at all. And in those cases did not even bother to try to answer folks back on their notes because I was discouraged. I think I need to guard my heart in more ways than one... I will endeavor to reach out to others in continued sincerity and also go back to including contexts and scriptures without too much brevity as this makes it hard for others to understand what exactly is the context of the questions, which is what we are supposed to be doing here as part of following guidlines... As I pointed out to Azure, I said hardly received help, not didn't receive any. I will continue to ask for help. God, bless, have a good Sunday, gotta go, late for first Sunday, Tamara |

349 | The Hat situation? | 1 Cor 11:16 | Tamara Brewington | 204282
Any reaon this post didn't make it in my mail box? Did you follow the thread from the original question, or pick it up somewhere along the road? Transference has been practiced for so long in the church concerning doctrines large and small, you know where we take what was the intent of the author and change it to fit today's standards of society because we don't think it applies to us today... Convention was never the thrust of the question whether it was moral at the time and should be for us today or whether it is just a peice of history to be discarded and the essence extracted into a re-application for today is the question. I appreciate your post though, at least you were aiming at the part of the question about history somewhere in there. But I will try looking on the web for the Catholic Doctrine to check out your idea, I didn't realize Catholics had a doctrine on this subject. The only thing I know about the history of this thing is that people only stopped wearing hats in the beginning of the twentieth century or so. Interesting that it is seen today as something that has been unimportant for a very long time, a century doesn't compare to nearly 2,000 years... God Bless, Tamara |

Thanks Lionheart, I need prayer somehow I just offended Azure... About something totaly different, I said hardly anyone was willing to school me how to use this site when I first came. She seemed to take it that I meant no one was willing to school me when I first came to this site in a note full of instructions how to navigate this site to someone who is new as of today. She sent me the post numbers from when you schooled me and when she schooled me. Yikes! God Bless, Tamara |

353 | Why can't I speak in tongues yet ? | Acts | Tamara Brewington | 204274
Oh my dear Azure, it was a little while of asking before anyone stepped up to the plate and I had stumble around a bit at first. Didn't mean to belittle your help or Lionheart's help either. And didn't I say hardly anyone, which of course means someone did! I have had a realy hard row to hoe in here Azure, I think you know this, my first help from you though I remember well, an admonition on how to post a note, if I remember correctly... If you will remember no one answered me so soon that I did not continue to stumble a bit which is what I meant. Have I ruffled feathers again Azure? I am trying so hard prayfuly not to do that anymore... To every old timer who sees this post, forgive me if I have offended you by saying that hardly anyone was willing to school me, but it took a while before anyone did and that is the truth. God bless Azure and the other old timers. |

I just saw that you are completely new, welcome to the forum! Trick, once your question had been answered go back to the primary page, click on your answered question and scroll to the very bottom of the page. There you will see all the people who picked up what is called the thread who did not chose to answer you, but answered each other about their notes to your posted questions. You may be surprised once in a while what you find out in this manner. It can be enlightening in more ways than one. Once you are there, click on each user name and it will take you to their personal profile which has been left there in order for you to know a little bit about them. You may need to go in and click on your own name in a question you have posted and and fill in your personal profile so people will know a little bit about you too. Be sure when you click on someones name to click on to their stats up to the right and go into where it says questions asked, or notes answered, etc. This will give you an excellent idea what they are doing in here, what they believe, a little about what they are about. When you want to comment on anything you see any where, in a thread, in a note, in a posted question be sure to select note, the person whose name you see will get your note. Hardly anyone was willing to school me I had to learn the hard way. God Bless, Tamara |

355 | Why can't I speak in tongues yet ? | Acts | Tamara Brewington | 204270
The first group of people the Holy Spirit fell on at Pentecost in Acts 2 on the Jews gathered at Jerusalem who were disciples of Jesus and they were speaking in other languages to other Jews the great deeds of God. In the end of the chapter a great many of these Jew from other countries believed after Peter the apostle preached to them and they were baptized and they also recieved the Holy Spirit. That is the fist group to be included in the church. Then the second group of people the Holy Spirit fell on was in Acts 10:34-48 Peter goes to Cornelius a Gentile and he and all of his household heard the gospel and even before they got baptized in the Holy Spirit fell on them, they spoke in tongues and then they got baptized. The third group of people who got brought in were the Samaritans in Acts 8:4-18 who received the Holy Spirit after believing in the gospel and being baptized. The fourth group of people that got brought in whom the Holy Spirit fell on where those who had the baptism of John and once Paul had them baptized the Holy Spirit fell on them and they spoke in tonuges. So there was a reason people were having the Holy Spirit fall on them in this way and in some instances speaking in tongues. God was brining the four major groups into the church. After these groups; the Jews to whom the promises belonged, the Samaritans who worshipped the right God the wrong way, all the pagans the Gentiles, and those who had received the repentance and baptism of John were brought into the church, you don't find the Holy Spirit falling on people in the Bible making them speak in tongues quite like you do in Acts. In Acts people had tongues of fire fall on them and they spoke in real languages as evidence that the Holy Spirit had included a group. In I Corinthians it says in 12:4-7 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. Speaking in tongues is not the only evidence, nor does it have to be the first evidence that the Holy Spirit is working. What if God did not give you the gift of tongues? What if He gave you a different gift? You can tary till the cows come home, but you can't decide for God which gift He will give to you. Your words may be limited for a reason, you may have been a different gift! Read Romans 12:1-8 and you will see that once you present your body as a living sacrifice it becomes possible through the renewing of your mind to prove what the will of God is... You can know with certainty what your gift realy is over time by doing this. Read on through verses 3-8 about the gifts being exersised. It takes time to discover what your gift is don't rush God and decide what it should be. God Bless, Tamara |

Hey Lionheart long time no hear! Ok Lionheart, but since I only found out that folks were getting ruffled in here after a couple of posts you will have to excuse me... No one in my congregation is getting ruffled, they had one heated debate which I stayed out of, trying to understand the passage. So I can keep weariing the hat out here, but can't speak about it in here anymore. And it ending up being that in here they were derisive towards me and deciding that me talking about whether or not it was an historical issue or a moral issue that we now set aside was being concerned with external conformity and lacking in internal examination, rather than a valid question. What a crock to decide that that is the case for me without actually knowing me... Anything automaticaly becomes a matter of the weak and the strong as soon as someone gets ruffled feathers in here over another's practices of Christianity. Now that being said, if they thought I was weak why did they pass judgment on my opinions as the passage says? What does that say about who was weak? Paul also says, I Corinthians 10:29,30 I mean not your own conscience, but the other man's; for why is my freedom judged by another's conscience? If I partake with thankfulness, why am I slandered concerning that for which I give thanks? So in here I won't be talking about this any more unless others want to talk about it. But outside of here it's a non issue and I don't have to change out here AND I DON'T GO AROUND ADVOCATING HATS, that was never the case in here or out of here. I received an email from a Torah Observant Christian from the forum who stated that they got a bunch of flack for being a Sabbath keeper and for being Torah Observant. This person no longer posts very much because of being talked about in notes not directed at them (which is what also happened to me) and because of derisive comments. What happened to them and what happened to me is unacceptable behavior according to the rules of this site. If you go all the way through the posts you will see unwarranted humor, which is discouraged by this site, and derisive and or challenging comments intended to put me in my place. That is unacceptable behavior again. God, Bless, Tamara God, Bless, Tamara |
