Not all churches have altar calls ... and since there is no Biblical directives what one is to do when they respond to the Gospel, except to call (verbally) on Him (Rom 10:9-15) ... churches decide how it should be done. There are other minor issues, some which divide the church, that are not specified in Scripture. Searcher |

Word Study ... Shabbath (Heb), Sabbaton (Grk) ... Kathy, Matt 28:1 (KJV) says "In the end of the sabbath" and the Greek is jOye; de; sabbavtwn, ... 252 | Is divine initiative always passive? | Bible general Archive 2 | Searcher56 | 103207
Greek study ... perfect passive participle ... Kathy, I had help from AT Robertson ... and then checked out if what he said was so. It is not just "passive voice" ... is it perfect passive participle of sunagw. Plus, this does not mean It was "of divine initiative" ... Romans 7:14 says "Sold under sin (pepramenos hupo ten hamartian). Perfect passive participle of pipraskw, old verb, to sell. Moreover, are you saying if it is an "active participle" ... or anything that is not in the passive voice ... it is not "of divine initiative" |

Why don't you want to do the research? I suggest you check out everything anyone says to see if it is so (Acts 17:11) ... including myself. There is great danger when we don't ... it is how some trends start, as well as cults ... then some becaome traditions.

256 | Are we supposed to observe the Sabbath? | Bible general Archive 2 | Searcher56 | 103284
If anyone posts something that may not be based Scripture, it will challenged. If a post contradicts Scripture - it is against Christ ... and it is not funny. Sometimes, I have found it easier to take a post in sections. |

Kathy ... My concern is that many quote another source, believing it is true. Wayne Jackson said what you did http://www.christiancourier.com/archives/sabbath.htm ... however when I checked the Acts 20:7 out, I found he was not correct. Searcher |

260 | Are we supposed to observe the Sabbath? | Bible general Archive 2 | Searcher56 | 103422
I am not concerned about the day of "worship" which should be holy ... not a holiday ... I am concerned that you said something that is wrong. Wayne Jackson said that the context proves his point ... and didn't defend the it is in the passive voice and that it meant it was by God (divine). It is against Christ when you say something about the Bible is not so ... that Acts 20:7 is in the passive voice and that it meant it was by God (divine). |
